There are several areas where Trello could be improved based on our academic research and team project usage. One improvement would be more advanced built-in analytics, such as better progress tracking dashboards or productivity insights without relying on third-party tools. Another area is scalability for complex projects where boards get very large with many cards and dependencies. It can become harder to manage without additional structure or hierarchy features. Overall, it works very well, but these enhancements would make it even stronger for larger or long-term projects.

One additional area of improvement in Trello is automation and integrations. While Trello does support basic automation through Butler, more advanced and flexible automation rules would be helpful, especially for academic research workflows where tasks often move between stages in more complex forms. It would help if automation rules were easier to set up and more flexible for different project workflows. Additionally, smoother integrations with tools such as Google Drive or other study applications would save time and reduce switching between platforms.

I think one additional improvement for Trello would be support for larger projects with many tasks and team members. As boards grow, they can become crowded and harder to navigate. More advanced filtering, reporting, and project overview features would help users manage complex projects more efficiently.

I have been using Trello for the past two years.

My main use case for Trello is graphics, specifically for interacting with a graphics designer.

A quick, specific example of how I use Trello with my graphics designer is that I put requests in for them and I manage those requests as well as from other people who need to use the graphics designer.

It is hard to track completed requests and show performance based on closed cards.

The customer support for Trello in my experience is not great, as I tried to reach out to get answers before or even look on the web community support for things, such as the out-of-office notifications, without finding answers.

I don't really think Trello is good for automation, or that it has good automation features; in general, it's a pretty standard project management board.

My advice to others looking into using Trello is that with any project management software, you just need to know if it meets your needs and do a POC, while also recognizing that Trello is similar to Monday.

On a scale of one to ten, I rate Trello an eight out of ten.

I mostly do software development. I am building a SaaS platform for business process automation, so I mostly work with software now. That is why Trello is mentioned. I am not working much with network infrastructure anymore at this time. If I do work with network infrastructure, it will be occasionally with Juniper Networks, but not Cisco. Trello is the only software product that I work with now. What I do now does not involve digital infrastructure anymore. It is mostly software.

I have found the boards in Trello to be quite valuable for providing updates from the project manager to the dev team. I found that to be most valuable in managing a sprint.

Because we upgraded from the free version to the $6 per month version, and because most of our projects at this time are not huge, we have found that to be very sufficient. Trello is one software that we use quite often. Even though I am not a developer anymore, I am leading the organization and I focus a lot more on sales and management. Trello is still one software that we use a lot.

In terms of notifications, in terms of managing our sprints, in terms of managing our tasks, Trello is most valuable for task management. It helps with managing time and expectations. It also eases communication. Trello has been pretty much everything we need for our software development.

Trello's Kanban interface is awesome. For us, it actually addresses all of our needs in that regard.

Maybe some AI enhancements would be beneficial, but in terms of how we use Trello here, a lot of people seem to be really happy with Trello and that is always the go-to. Most people will just immediately tell you to go to Trello and get their latest products. I think Trello has done a fantastic job regarding that.

I have been using Trello overall for about six years.

We worked with the paid version. We had that subscription, and the last time we had it was for maybe about a year or so. That subscription only ended a couple of months ago. We used the paid version, which was $6 a month. We had about five or six licenses.

I purchased directly from the Trello website. I did not use any other method. I am not sure Trello has resellers. I think they may have partners where you can buy Trello from, perhaps Amazon or a couple of places, but I doubt if Trello has partners or maybe I do not even know if they actually really need to have partners.

I have not had any reason to interact with their technical support, so I would not know. I think it is quite responsive. I have not really interacted with customer support much. The only interaction we had was some messages regarding subscriptions and managing subscriptions.

I have not used Trello's mobile app for project management. Maybe my colleagues have, but personally I have not.

I think Trello is quite popular in Nigeria. Trello and Jira, Confluence, especially Trello and Jira, are the most popular project management software in Nigeria currently. I think Trello is doing a good job with marketing, but most people actually use Trello.

We have a Trello account for my company Infohob, which is currently inactive in terms of paid subscriptions, but the account is still active.

I know that there have been some improvements. I have seen some articles published on LinkedIn regarding Trello, but I have not used it recently myself. It is used mostly by the team, even though I also had a subscription or a license. I was not as active as my teammates. From what I see, I think it actually pretty much exceeded our expectations or at least met all of our expectations regarding task management and sprint management. I think it was excellent. At the level at which we use Trello, I think we are just fine.

I find the pricing reasonable.

Trello is the most popular option in the market. I actually find it hard to think of any other products in the market. You may have other products which would be mostly for companies using ERPs, maybe depending on the size of the company. If it is a small company, then it would be Zoho or Odoo. If it is a big company, probably SAP or Oracle. But generally, Trello is clearly the most popular product in Nigeria.

We use Trello for a number of different things. We use it in R&D, in product, and across the company for tracking ideas and monitoring tasks.

The ability to move cards between boards is really helpful, as well as the labels. The ability to tag different team members in both the description and the comments, and the due dates feature are handy. We are able to customize the labels, both the text and the color, so when looking at a board, we can easily filter or see cards related to specific tasks or team members. This functionality really streamlines using Trello. Trello definitely saves time and makes things a lot easier, except when it's buggy.

There can be bugs sometimes. When more than one person tries to edit the description at the same time, it can do some unexpected things. I would like to see that improved. Sometimes they add new features, which can be either welcome or odd. More control over email notifications would also be helpful.

I have been using Trello for probably ten or eleven years now.

We used something very outdated in comparison to Trello. I don't remember what it was called, maybe something like Bug Tracker, but I'm really not sure.

I would rate Trello an eight overall. Trello is good for what we need. It is not too complex, but it has a decent amount of features that we take advantage of. Every solution has room for improvement, which is why I didn't give it a nine or ten.

We use Trello to manage projects and different tasks with various teams to manage our workflows. Some examples include getting content created. We put a card onto Trello with a content request, and then it gets moved along the queue as different people do what they need to do. It's also a way to prioritize different items by having different columns for tasks that need to get done. We can organize them by time or status. Trello is very customizable.

Just being able to manage tasks very easily is one of the best features Trello offers. We can attach whatever we need there and tag multiple people. It's a very easy way to get multiple teams working on the same project and know who's responsible. It replaces ping-ponging emails back and forth with a board where people can follow a task from start to finish and see when it's done. This allows projects to be completed without confusion and makes it easy to track different pieces using the checklists.

Trello could be improved by having a better notification system. Currently, notifications flood my inbox, making it hard to differentiate what I actually need to open. Each card move or addition results in a new email, so a digest or a better way to receive notifications would be helpful. It would also be beneficial to more easily assign different members to specific parts of cards or action items.

I have been using Trello for about five years.

I am not responsible for the budget and wouldn't know about actual ROI metrics, but anecdotally, Trello saves a lot of time, effort, and prevents miscommunication.

My main use case for Trello is to organize our job and for project management, and it helps us to organize tickets, set priorities, and build a feature list schedule for our team.

I have a free account on Trello. There are two many tools that I have used in the past. I had used Trello for some time in the past, but since my needs were too simple, I stopped using it.

The most valuable features of the solution revolve around the mobile version of the product that was easy to use.

I used only the tool's free version. I didn't use the solution extensively for several months, as it was more of trying out what Trello is capable of because it was something I kept hearing about my colleagues and from my wide circle of friends who were using it. Honestly, I didn't spend a lot of time with the tool.

I have been using Trello for my personal needs, but not to an extensive range.

In terms of stability, Trello is different from ADO because multiple people use the latter. Trello was available as a standalone version that does not allow you to collaborate with other people. Stability-wise, I rate the solution an eight to nine out of ten. I didn't explore it for its capabilities. I don't know how other features in the tool behave. I don't know much about the product since I used it for my personal use.

I understand that the tool is deployed through apps, and it has the technology all the way, owing to which it should be scalable to whatever number of users are needed.

I have used Jira in the past. I have also used another product named Redmine, but it was used around 10 to 15 years ago when my company was first introduced to the concept of agile.

Trello is at par with Jira and Redmine.

I've used Trello in a private capacity, mainly for personal organization or small team planning for the past few months.

We used the solution to track a few of the project items that were there for our business master project.

Trello's tracking features are nice, and it's a free resource, which makes the solution accessible. Trello is not as complex as most of the other products are. It's very straightforward because you can have a very small project and have to-do's associated with it, so you can work with it. It is an easy-to-use tracking tool.

Trello does not provide you with as many functionalities as Jira and various third-party integrations provided by these different platforms.

Moreover, assigning things to people is a little difficult, it doesn't make sense. It would be better if it were easier to assign within a team and if they get notifications immediately via an app such as Slack, for example, if Trello could be integrated. However, there may be integrations available that we did not explore. When we used the solution, it was difficult for us to manage through emails, and most tasks were missed out on because they were not getting tracked properly or people were not getting notified.

The solution also gets a little complex with the way assignments and the tagging of certain tasks could be.

I did not face any issues with Trello. I recently saw some updates to the solution after using it again after seven or eight years. I could see that it improved quite a lot.

Trello could be more scalable. Our focus was quite restricted and limited, so we might not have explored all the options and features available.

We had six members using a Trello board, but we could extend to 100 users on the same board.

The initial setup is very straightforward. You just log in on a browser and directly work with it.

People aren't required to set up the solution. You log into the solution, take a new blank project charter or whatever you're trying to create, and then you can categorize your list of tasks. Trello is very simplistic.

The solution does not require maintenance since it is just a web page.

Trello was free when we used it, but if we wanted many people looped in, we did need to pay a fee.

I have not used similar solutions to Trello because when working with a corporation, you would have a dashboard or a project management solution. I don't think Trello has been used in companies or corporations because I doubt it can handle that complexity now. Maybe it will later.

Even though Trello is a simplistic tool, it serves as a good tracking board for projects where you have daily standards or meetings. If companies do not want to invest heavily in project tools, Trello is a good alternative. A small startup could utilize it. If it's a smaller team and a small project without any resource management, Trello could be used. But in bigger projects where we have many things tied up, like cost, resources, and certain modules, it might be a little difficult to use Trello because it's quite simplistic.
