Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We are a lot more organized, and have transparency throughout key areas of our business thanks to this solution.""The way it allows our team to communicate with each other and keep each other up to date on many ongoing assignments at once through comments and the subitems feature is very helpful.""I am able to keep much better track of all current projects and each aspect of individual projects, which has helped to make team meetings a breeze.""There are so many automations to streamline everyday tasks and reduce click counts when doing admin work. It is incredible.""Before signing on with Monday, we had no idea what the total value of our book of business was, and keeping track of renewing policies was very difficult.""Monday.com sends email notifications to keep us all on task. I love the email reminders asking me where I am with the assigned task and if I need some help. I have used this to get things done on time, and it also encourages me to acknowledge when I need some help because I have not been able to complete the task.""Items and boards are ideal as they help in keeping everything in a single location without any confusion.""The value is that monday.com provides us with an overall picture of how much work a teammate has."

"The ability to update in real-time before meetings is great.""To me, one of the most powerful features of Smartsheet is being able to email others.""The dashboard feature is the most valuable aspect of the solution.""The fact that you can have different access groups is definitely a pro for Smartsheet. It also has the ability to integrate with a lot of tools.""The dashboard and the layouts are quite good.""What I found most valuable in Smartsheet is its project customization feature. It's a great solution because you can add in your own WBS. You can see it in Jira style, Kanban, and you can even do Agile and Waterfall. Another feature that's valuable in the solution is when you have those connections, you have that API, you have a sandbox, and you can make a solution, it's a tremendous product because you can pull data.""Smartsheet is stable.""Smartsheet offers more than Project because it's similar to a table-based, database-type system. It's like a hybrid between Excel and project software. We were able to enter the formulas and do much of the automation. We added budgets to it and linked them to a vendor page. Smartsheet let us integrate the budget into the project seamlessly. With Project, we needed to open up Excel."

Cons
"Some boards are just buggy.""It spams my inbox with many unwanted emails.""Opening up a task and adding content/updates could be a little more organized visually.""It would be helpful if there were a little more flexibility with user numbers and the ability to add guests for a period of time.""Having easier access to training videos on how all features can interact with one another would be helpful.""It helped us a lot in content management issues for TikTok and YouTube, however, it would be good to have an integration for each social network to get all the data within a single platform.""I have just started to use this solution, and there are no new features that I need at this time, but it could be more user-friendly.""We'd like more automation."

More monday.com Cons →

"Lacks the ability to edit attachments within the solution.""There are some pain points for me. Other people use it a little differently, but I would like to be able to do a little more with it. I would like database functionality with it wherein if I bring in several Excel spreadsheets of data and load them into Smartsheets, I should be able to make a correlation between an index field and run a report against those two. I can do it, but it's a little clunky. So, I need a little more experience to feel comfortable doing that.""They provide a limited number of sheets which is not enough.""I'd like to see them add more features to their automation.""The downside of Smartsheet is that there are some security concerns. We were able to restrict people from sharing sheets with anyone who was not in our domain, but it could be easier. We also found it hard to restrict certain user groups from adding attachments to sheets.""The long-term timelines could be improved, especially the visuals on the projection Gantt chart.""Smartsheet could improve by having seamless integration with Azure Board.""The main challenge with Smartsheet is that when you start putting components on the Smartsheet dashboard, they don't know about each other. So, if I filter something in one widget, or if I click on a region or a project ID, the other widget or component and the visualization that's on that dashboard don't change. It doesn't know about the other component."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I wasn't involved with the licensing, but I believe it's negotiable."
  • "The solution is quite inexpensive. For example, we pay $8,500 for 75 users. It's somewhere around $100 a user, approximately."
  • "The project manager would be responsible for any licensing fees. As an end-user, we just follow suit."
  • "Fees are paid monthly per user."
  • "The price is reasonable for the number of users we have."
  • "I am using its free version."
  • "We tell others it's about $2200 for a ten-person plan and it can be adjusted; it's easy to scale."
  • "monday.com's pricing is fair compared to its competitors, although it is a bit more expensive than most of them. It's more expensive than Jira, Zoho, ClickUp, and Trello. But it is fairly priced when you compare the kinds of features and the capabilities that you get and the ROI."
  • More monday.com Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Its licensing is on a yearly basis. I was responsible for negotiating the price with the Smartsheet team, but I don't remember what the price was. Its standard license probably was around 5,000 to 6,000 a year. The enterprise version is significantly more expensive."
  • "Smartsheet only requires licenses for project managers. When we were using Asana, we had to purchase a license for everyone who wanted to access their tasks and use the system. That gets costly fast. It was one of the main reasons we left Asana. As Asana and these other tools scale, they become way more expensive."
  • "There would be more extensive usage if the solution were cheaper. It's really expensive right now, and that's why we provide a few licenses for admins. The rest of them are just users without admin privileges."
  • "I would assume there is a licensing fee. I don't think that it is free."
  • "It is less expensive than Microsoft Project for enterprise or Oracle Primavera by an order of magnitude. If you buy a Microsoft Project license, it's probably $300 or so by itself, whereas Smartsheet is probably less than $50 per head."
  • "For a normal license, like the one I had: I had my own Smartsheet because I wanted to play with it and I didn't want to mess with what I was doing in Verizon, so I paid $200 monthly, and it gave me all the same functionalities, so I could do whatever I wanted for $200. The problem is if you have anyone else working on it or deploying on it, it's $200 a month for every single person who's deployed on it, that's working on it as an owner or an administrator, so owners and administrators are the only ones who can change, edit, and add data to worksheets and columns. Depending on the size of your organization, Smartsheet can be costly. As for implementing its Control Center, Smartsheet forces you to have three people come in: it's a minimum of three people from Smartsheet for three months who will provide you the solutions for the Control Center side, and that's $150 an hour, so it can become very expensive. For my company, not having the Control Center would save on the setup fees and then the $20,000 a year, because the Control Center of Smartsheet is a yearly subscription of $20,000."
  • "Smartsheet has many licensing models. You need to add the package that best suits your requirements. The license is paid per user and it is monthly. The cost was approximately $7 per PC, $15 for professional, and $33 for the enterprise plan."
  • "If I'm not mistaken, it was pretty manageable. It was about 200 bucks a seed. The business really felt a strong need for it. So, it was viewed as a safer and more straightforward cost that we were willing to pay as compared to Domo, which took some convincing."

monday.com stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its task status feature and its ability to integrate with external apps. PeerSpot users take note of the advantages of these features in their reviews:

Ben D., Front End Developer at a marketing services firm, writes of the product, “Their flagship feature, what used to be called the pulse, is great. Pulse offers great management. Being able to see everything at a glance and check task status, is wonderful. They use subtasks and the simple aspects of task management have been really helpful.”

Another PeerSpot reviewer, the Head of Projects at Smart Media SA, notes, “The boards offer an amazing and clear view of my tasks, campaigns, and progress. Automations especially with Slack and Outlook help with keeping my team up-to-date always. Graphs and charts are valuable for reporting purposes and to track progress made. Workforms/surveys are valuable and a very cool added feature.”
