Provides seamless backup integration and long-term reliability for enterprise data protection
The price is quite high; this product is not considered cheap. Additionally, if you use higher availability boxes, they also come at a premium price. However, they provide business continuity, which is the main reason why companies invest in this solution. Tape is slow; when restoring several virtual machines or databases amounting to several terabytes, Dell PowerProtect Data Domain represents the fastest and most reliable solution, ensuring great integration with backup software. If a customer has limited budget constraints, they may opt for cheaper external storage comprised of just a bunch of disks and utilize it for backup, as backup is not a business-critical service. However, I see great value in Dell PowerProtect Data Domain because it is fully automated, features great integration with backup software, and provides good value for money. I would rate software support as a ten, while I would give hardware support a seven. I never give any product a perfect score; I think Dell PowerProtect Data Domain deserves a nine. The only minor problems are the certificate issue and the price. These certificate issues are quite rare and mainly arise when we forget to restart and upgrade the box for several years.

Collaborate effectively with partners and benefit from robust data management capabilities
The functions of HPE StoreOnce that I find most valuable are its deduplication and replication options. These features save data and reduce the size of data significantly. If the actual size for backup data is 100 terabytes, using StoreOnce, it will be around less than 10% of the original size due to the 1 to 10 deduplication ratio. So, compression and replication are critical features I appreciate. Additionally, adaptive backup and restore capabilities of HPE StoreOnce are indeed very helpful functions. As I know from my technical team, the process is very easy for end users because the GUI and user experience with StoreOnce are straightforward. They can restore their backups at any time. An important feature of StoreOnce is that they can reserve an amount of storage capacity as protected capacity for a limited time, safeguarding their data against intrusion and other interactions. Based on feedback from customers, StoreOnce is regarded as a highly useful solution for backup. I am satisfied with the security aspects of HPE StoreOnce, but it's crucial for any company to maintain a multi-layer security approach. Starting with a firewall is essential for maintaining their environment. Additionally, security features on StoreOnce are useful. I believe that no company should rely solely on one layer of security; they should adopt a multi-layer security strategy that begins at the network level and extends to their internal solutions.

I have used DataDomains for many years now. Once you get over the initial price tag and look at cost/TB (realised), it really is good value. The features in the newer DDOS versions match or are better than anything else I have ever seen/heard of. I have several sites that have dedup ratios of 60:1 or even 100:1 (ok: 99:1). The Data Domains I have installed and maintain are all very reliable...

Data Domain is a purpose built back up appliance and offers the best deduplication and lowest cost per logical TB in the industry. Coupled with software such as Networker, you have an unbeatable design (depending on data being backed up etc.). With deduplication taking place before it hits the LAN/WAN, it also saves network congestion and therefore costs in productivity/performance as well.

We have had very good success with the HPE StoreOnce product line. It usually comes in priced lower than the Data Domain solution. Getting up to 20 and 30 to 1 dedupe.
