Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Delivers increased productivity and streamlines fraud processing in banking, though technical support could be faster
Before AutomationEdge, we had to hire coder-level experts with Java or Python knowledge. This approach took considerable time and required error handling to automate processes. With this tool, all processes are automatically handled with errors, and no-code automation is available. The cost for a developer is now significantly lower. Previously, we hired highly efficient developers with high salary packages. The license cost of 5 to 10 lakhs per year for one person to automate is equivalent to a person's annual salary. With the license and a developer hired at 3 to 5 lakhs, we can automate 40 to 50 processes.

Has improved analytics and reporting but needs better integration and support
To improve IBM Robotic Process Automation (RPA) for the next release, there should be more integration with external systems, and more integration with IBM's data and AI platforms is needed. There is an AI part in IBM Robotic Process Automation (RPA) for Machine Learning, but IBM has another platform specifically for data and AI, which is integrated right now. More features are hoped for in the future.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We have a plethora of good use cases saving good, hard dollars."
"I find Automation Anywhere (AA) to be really fast on the development side."
"Web-based control is the most valuable feature. We can access it from anywhere in the world with the control room URL and in any browser. Bot Insights make our report generation and other insights view easier. We can export the data in the form of CSV, PDF, etc."
"It helps improve performance and helps companies save time and money."
"I like working with most of the commands in Automation Anywhere, such as object cloning commands. I like MetaBot for automating Citrix."
"No review content was provided."
"it helps to save time when doing processes. E.g., when you do a manual process for eight hours, that time is saved because the bot will do that task for you. The process owners will be able to do the analysis part. The repetitive/manual part will be done by the robot."
"With Automation Anywhere you can read and extract CSV data easily. You don't need multiple commands to read it."
"The initial setup was easy and straightforward."
"The staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect, even surprising us with a complimentary dessert to celebrate our anniversary."
"The chatbot that they have is most valuable. It is one of the best features because they own it, and they don't need to integrate with other parties to have a chatbot. This is one of the main features. The rest of the features are common to all RPA tools or vendors available in the market."
"The product's most valuable feature is the executor."
"The studio design is fine compared to other similar products. There is nothing extraordinary about it, but at the same time, there are not any negatives."
"AutomationEdge is really easy to use because the workflows are simple."
"It is a valuable tool for developing efficient solutions, especially in finance and banking."
"In general terms, the solution has helped our business by speeding up execution times."
"It is a good tool for automation."
"I am satisfied with the technical support."
"One of the most impactful features of IBM Robotic Process Automation (RPA) has been its one-time setup capability."
"If you have a business process, and once you have automated that process, you have a readily available workflow in place."
"It is easy to use. We have enabled our resources who don't have a background in automation to be certified and trained, then implement this product within a very short period of time, as it is very user-friendly."
"I like the integration with Watson and the possibility to have an intelligent reading of all the customers' documents."
"No other solution I have seen can provide this level of flexibility."
"The initial setup is straightforward."

Cons

"The bot scaling process was painful, when you go beyond a few bots, and because we had stability issues. We had to work through the issues, and they took us a long time."
"The biggest challenge in attended automation, every time the agent has to log in to the control room and execute bot for most of the agents this is a time-consuming activity plus they are not tech-savvy."
"The focus on usability and user experience is bang on. Addressing several personas and making it easy for every persona to adopt and embrace is the spot on focus. That's an area that has a lot more room to improve. In the absence of that, the skills and expertise in the industry are going to struggle and if you need broader adoption, which has maximum potential, the persona-based user experience is a focus and I'd say Automation Anywhere is already working on."
"We have done some automation of incoming documents, but it has been somewhat hard."
"Regarding the UI, once you're in some of the screens there are fixed dialogues. They are a set size, so there's a lot of horizontal scrolls and vertical scrolls."
"We have a new feature share in Automation Anywhere, but it does not migrate automatically from the previous version to the new one."
"AA sometimes poses compatibility problems with new web browser versions like Chrome."
"Migration is probably our biggest challenge. When we were trying to do the migration to the new version, it was a little bit painful. We didn't have that many bots, and I can't imagine the level of effort that some of the bigger customers have to put in for that. The product is stable, but moving from one release to the other was the issue."
"The licensing for this solution should have a more competitive pricing model. The price is in the top five of similar products."
"With the solution, customizing software can be time-consuming."
"In the future, they should have a similar version for the cloud and on-premises, and the installation should be flawless within few minutes."
"The price of the solution could be improved."
"We cannot use extra modules while working with AutomationEdge. It crashes if we have lots of data to process in Excel."
"It's not an intuitive tool."
"The ease of use is the main thing on which they really have to focus. If they want to go against the giants, it should be improved in ease of use, and it should be more user-friendly. It would be helpful because everyone should be empowered irrespective of whether they know how to code or not. They should enhance its user interface and make it more intuitive."
"In AutomationEdge, I think there could be improvements. The variables sometimes are really confusing when you use them because the aspects around the variables are confusing, particularly the global variables and the local variables."
"IBM’s support should improve response time."
"IBM should provide specific solutions for specific problems, like templates for invoicing processes, or general templates for creating efficient processes."
"The users should be allowed to create folders in Control Center."
"One of the things I would definitely like to see is more of the machine-learning and cognitive capabilities."
"Capturing GUI operations is very easy, but capturing IBM Logistics automation is hard. It does not always work with browsers or automotive applications like SAP."
"The pricing of IBM Robotic Process Automation (RPA) could be improved."
"One of the things I would definitely like to see is more of the machine-learning and cognitive capabilities. For example, now that we're starting to automate more and more tasks, there are some things that still require us to go back and modify the robots when we need to. But if we had more of the machine-learning integrated into it, I believe it would be easier to maintain, so that we wouldn't have to go back and adjust every time."
"Extensibility is the key, especially in terms of the Recorders feature that we have. That should be browser independent. Enhance it because some people have Chrome, some have Internet Explorer, etc. Also, integration with PDFs: Not just the ability to read information from PDFs but the ability to write information from PDFs, make it secure, sign it, etc. Finally, if they can allow a token exchange inside the tool itself, that would help."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's fine. However, I'm concerned with the credits in terms of the pricing for the AI models. It is understandable that the new ones are more expensive, but the base models, after doing the pricing conversion, cost about four to ten times as much as paying directly."
"The licensing cost for Automation Anywhere is high."
"It is not too expensive, but there are many tools available in the market that can provide the same functionality at a cheaper price."
"Automation Anywhere might have a higher upfront cost than some competitors, but its extensive features and seamless integration with other tools can save organizations money in the long run."
"It's a bit expensive compared to other RPA tools on the market."
"The Automation Anywhere license is affordable and not complex."
"We have seen the tangible benefits of taking monotonous work off people's plates, creating capacity, and cost reductions."
"The pricing is reasonable and one can achieve ROI faster when compared to other tools."
"If you are looking for a budget solution, you can consider AE. It has all the features. Scaling it is way easier because of the cost itself."
"The product is available at the lowest price."
"I give the price of the solution a nine out of ten."
"Price-wise, AutomationEdge is pretty affordable, making it not so expensive when you compare this with other tools in the market."
"The licensing for this solution should have a more competitive pricing model. The price is in the top five of similar products."
"It is expensive but its value can justify the cost."
"Pricing can be made better. Currently, I think the pricing is based on the market. The pricing also depends on the business partners that offer you the solution."
"I rate the pricing ten out of ten. So, the pricing is very good for me."
"IBM licensing is annual and based on Virtual Processor Cores (VPC). This provides flexibility as part of the containerization environment."
"The license is paid annually."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"There is a free trial for one month, so you can use it to run your payloads or proof of concept. After that, you can pay for the license on a monthly or annual basis."
"The product has a yearly licensing fee."
"IBM RPA is cheaper than other tools."
"The product is reasonably priced compared to other tools."
