Centralized endpoint security has improved and supports hybrid work and BYOD policies
Regarding what I dislike about Microsoft Intune and its downsides, I would say that more Mac controls are needed because we have limited Mac and Linux control. When comparing controls and policies between Windows, Mac, and Linux, Windows has almost everything you can think of, while Mac and Linux have limited types of control. You cannot implement certain things on Mac and Linux that you can on Windows. The limited controls are a major issue. Additionally, if Microsoft could find a way to embed servers into Microsoft Intune, that would be beneficial. Microsoft Intune is not really designed for servers or Windows servers. It is more tailored towards Windows 11 and Windows 10 operating systems. Windows servers are not fully supported. Enterprise organizations usually have both servers and endpoints, which are users' workstations. For servers, most people look for other solutions such as SCCM, which is Configuration Manager. However, SCCM is what Microsoft Intune is trying to replace. Both SCCM and Microsoft Intune belong to Microsoft. Microsoft is trying to transition organizations into Microsoft Intune, the native cloud solution. However, because this update is still in process, servers are not fully compatible with Microsoft Intune and cannot be managed by it. The current policy that has emerged from issues with clients is what they call co-management, which is relatively new, and I do not know if adoption is significant. Many legacy or older customers who have been using these products for decades still have SCCM. When it is time for them to manage their Windows devices, they use what is called cloud attach. Cloud attach is a term whereby your SCCM is connected to your Microsoft Intune. Most people do not know about it, but I have deployed it for several organizations. Cloud attach and co-management work together so that your device is in SCCM, but some policies are pushed from Microsoft Intune. It is like two different solutions working hand in hand. That is what they call co-management. Microsoft Intune does not bring all of your endpoint and security management tools into one place, which is the goal and how it should be. However, as I mentioned, servers are not included. If we talk about end users, Microsoft Intune does bring all your devices together. In a typical enterprise environment, you have end users with workstations, laptops, company-issued phones, and bring your own devices. You can create policies for all of these. However, for the backend, your servers do not have much coverage. Servers are not really covered by Microsoft Intune in that way.

Remote support has reduced client visits and saves us significant time and costs
The best features that AnyDesk offers in my experience are the remote control and remote access. Those features are valuable to me because of the ease in how you connect remotely without necessarily installing AnyDesk on your computer. You just download the application, open it, and it gives you your address. You share this with your colleague or client, and then in just one click you are connected. Another feature I appreciate about AnyDesk is security. If you are trying to do something that requires administrator rights of the computer that you are working on, it will alert you and request that the person on the other end accept the operation that you are doing. That security feature is excellent. AnyDesk has positively impacted my organization by helping us provide timely help to our clients. This reduces costs because we do not have to travel to the client to help them. I can connect remotely and help someone in a timely manner. I can share a specific outcome where, now that we have more than one hundred clients that we help, I estimate we have saved more than one hundred thousand dollars.

Secure remote access has transformed global support and simplified cross-platform collaboration
BeyondTrust Remote Support has good features that are not available in other apps, including rebooting without disconnection and the ALT + CTRL + deletion function. It's easier for data transfer, and multiple people can join a session easily. I think BeyondTrust Remote Support could be improved by being a bit more user-friendly in terms of connecting for a user. I would add that the zoom function allows us to zoom, but you can't particularly move around once you have zoomed in. Additionally, sometimes a remote connection cannot be established for unknown reasons, even if the host machine is clearly online. I have noticed that BeyondTrust ABS can sometimes be challenging to navigate, but it's no more challenging than other competitors.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's easy to deploy a configuration or policy to a system, especially when you don't have Azure AD. Now we are talking to all these small and medium-sized customers who don't necessarily have an on-premise Windows Active Directory. If they have invested in Office 365 Premium, this functionality becomes available to them."
"The most valuable feature of Microsoft Intune for me is its fully cloud-based nature, allowing me to work from anywhere, whether I am using my mobile phone, Windows, or macOS devices, so I can access it from any place at my convenience."
"Overall, Microsoft Intune is genuinely built for growth, catering well to both small teams and large enterprises with the same foundation and scaling smoothly without requiring a significant overhaul."
"If I assess Intune's user experience, I would say it is perfect and simple."
"I like that it's very good and very simple. I found that we just needed to have a proper subscription for an Intune tenant, and from the subscription, if we have the right role assigned, like the global admin role or the owner role, we can use Microsoft cloud resources. With the help of that, we can do many things like setting up Microsoft Intune in the cloud to create our virtual machines. All these can be done, and the steps are very simple. I really liked it. I like features like Windows Auto-Enrollment. I like it very much because whenever you supply it to the end-user, it will be ready to use immediately. The end-user only needs to provide the user credentials, and then they are good to go. I also really like Cloud PC, which was recently launched on Azure."
"What I appreciate about Microsoft Intune is that it is easy for me to deploy software to an environment with 600 laptops."
"Microsoft Intune is far more efficient and faster than MECM."
"I would recommend Microsoft Intune to others; it is a very good and scalable solution."
"AnyDesk has positively impacted my organization by helping us provide timely help to our clients, reducing costs because we do not have to travel, and with more than one hundred clients I estimate we have saved more than one hundred thousand dollars."
"BeyondTrust Remote Support has been a great tool that provided us a better view which helped our technicians create more accurate tickets when escalating issues."
"The solution is stable."
"The file transfer feature allows IT to provide needed drivers and files without interfering with the employee's workflow."
"In summary, this is a really nice product that is really secure and I can recommend it to other users."
"One of the largest values that we get from Bomgar Remote Support tool is the ability to assist our drivers with their mobile devices. We were unable to do this previously."
"We are able to be more effectively connected to computers and servers all over the world."
"The solution has been very stable. We haven't had issues at all. It doesn't crash or freeze. There aren't bugs or glitches either."
"Live chat enabled a new support channel into our service desk, integrating with our Service Management toolset. The meet-in-the-middle remote control functionality bypassed a lot of network restrictions that hampered our previous solution, enabling a far wider reach to our end-users."

Cons

"Sometimes the syncing is inconsistent. I'm confident that the devices are checking in every eight hours, but sometimes the devices aren't picking up the settings as quickly as I would expect. Some features haven't been updated in a while, and Microsoft doesn't seem interested in developing them. Unless you talk to an engineer, you don't know whether there will be an update."
"One area for improvement is app deployment. Another is the Windows update rollout. If you're rolling out an object to a device that's offline, Intune stops trying to reach this device after it sits idle for a bit. We are forced to find a workaround that could help manage that."
"If we could remote into a device, it would be great. Currently, we cannot directly connect to the user device. We have to use other tools such as VMware for connecting to devices."
"I consider Microsoft Intune's customer support decent but not always fast or consistent, especially compared to expectations in an enterprise environment."
"Microsoft Intune needs to improve the initial login process."
"When pushing anything from Microsoft Intune, the sync timing is 48 hours. While sometimes it takes 5 to 10 minutes, the official period given by Microsoft is within 48 hours, which can be time-consuming for policies, applications, or patches."
"I'm still playing around with it and haven't had any issues with the product yet, but support can definitely be improved."
"Onboarding of endpoint devices is not straightforward. The onboarding process was a little heavier than I thought it would be. That's the key improvement area. Obviously, the more control you have over the devices, the better it is."
"An improvement I would like to see for AnyDesk is that the free package has quite a limitation that comes with many advertisements once you exhaust the number of connections."
"The product maintenance and licensing costs are on the higher end, so I would carefully review how many licenses you need."
"They need to ensure that the remote support is compatible with the other cloud solution providers, like Huawei. Currently it is only compatible with Azure, AWS and KVM."
"The screen annotation tools could be expanded. I would like to see a text/typing annotation tool."
"One potential improvement is in the support department."
"Non-Windows support capabilities need improvement. They need to expand into Macs, iOS, and Android. It's there now, however, there's room for growth and that's probably the best area to expand."
"The Bomgar representative console could do with modernising. The Web rep console introduced is a marked improvement, but is currently not at feature parity with the thick client. This is being worked on."
"I would also like to see better support of Apple devices while using a Windows remote support console."
"Linux support leaves quite a bit to be desired. Ubuntu systems have issues with connectivity."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is not a cheap solution. The price for a device when you start using it at a large scale can be improved. It is covered under our enterprise agreement. We pay once a year. I am not aware of any additional costs."
"Microsoft Intune is moderately priced. There is a monthly license required to use the solution and it is approximately eight dollars per month."
"The product is expensive."
"Microsoft's licensing is more flexible and adaptive than its competitors."
"It comes with the E5 plan. We bought the E5 plan from Microsoft."
"Based on the features that it gives, it is cost-efficient. It is not necessarily on the expensive side of the scale. It provides a hefty number of features that any organization would want. It is in a good price range."
"The licensing costs we leave up to the customer and these vary from one to another."
"We have the business premium licenses for the solution."
Information not available
"This product provides value for money."
"Bomgar has a very fair pricing structure."
"Pricing is reasonable for what the service is offering. If it is looked at from a purely remote control perspective then it might appear expensive, but it is the wider functionality that should be considered too."
"I would like to order more licenses. This would allow us to support more end users concurrently."
"I rate Remote Support eight out of 10 for affordability. It's definitely not the cheapest product, but you get a good return on your investment."
"I highly recommend using the tech team properly trained by Bomgar. This will help the tool be more useful."
"It is expensive. Performance-wise, it is pretty good, but we're less happy with the cost. Its licensing is on a yearly basis. It is also on a per-technician basis. A certain number of concurrent technicians can log in and access all the features."
"The licensing is concurrent and we spend about $10,000. It's my understanding that there aren't any extra costs beyond just the straight licensing."
