Enables management of multiple operating systems with a single license
The best feature is that it's a Microsoft product, so if anything goes wrong, we get quick support for anything required. Remote system functionality allows us to sit anywhere and take control of any device via remote management. We can enhance security for clients' laptops with built-in Microsoft Defender, which is available with the Microsoft Intune license. We use it for reporting purposes through endpoint analytics. When pushing scripting, there are two types available: remediation script and reservation script. Through endpoint analytics, you can push defender policies to clients. It helps with reporting, inventory updates, and monitoring tenant status health.

Solution elevates team collaboration and manages remote support efficiently
For me as a user in the service desk, there is already a lot of functionality in the product. I don't have any specific ideas for improvement on that side. Some technical aspects could be improved, particularly in product management. For the end user, enhancements do not seem necessary at the moment. They could probably give the technician client a more modern interface, but the crucial factor is stable connectivity in a remote session. I see more potential for improvement on the administration side, like better transparency when a patch is installed. It would be useful for administrators to see the version and patch levels of the product easily. BeyondTrust could also enhance their quality control process before releasing a new build to ensure no new bugs are present. This is a common issue among software manufacturers.

Accessing the same desktop experience from anywhere but user template creation needs improvement
Mostly we are quite happy with it. However, some of us want a more powerful desktop. When not present, we use a remote tool called Splashtop, which is a good solution for some users. We have about ten licenses for those who need a powerful workstation at the office. We have not used many different tools. We are never in contact with Microsoft. These are quite basic configurations, to be honest. It's not complicated. AI is coming to or is already in some applications we are using. Not system-wise, however, it might be good. I'd rate the solution seven out of ten. It's quite good, yet certainly not perfect.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The best features in Microsoft Intune that I appreciate most are its centralized features."
"The biggest asset is the range of device management options available with Intune, whether it is a Windows device, a Linux device, a Mac device, or mobile devices."
"Overall, I would rate Microsoft Intune as eight out of ten."
"The feature that we need occasionally but is really important is the ability to remotely wipe a device, control it, and perform similar functions."
"The stability of Microsoft Intune is ten out of ten."
"The ability to push applications on devices is valuable. You do not have to manually install applications one by one. If you like to use ten different applications, you do not have to manually go and download them one by one. Intune can compile a package for you, and then you can just push them from the admin center."
"It's normally able to meet 100% expectations of our customers."
"Autopilot is a great feature. Most users are looking for a zero-touch deployment."
"We like that it records the remote sessions. If a technician is logged into a user remotely to fix any problem, it records the decision."
"We rarely need support for anything, but when we do, they are on it and always helpful."
"Solution has a good UI."
"I like Remote Support's ability to connect to a system without end-user interaction. A support engineer can log in to the system if a user is stuck and doesn't know where to go. This is helpful when conference room computers get locked down and the user can't access the guest OS."
"We are able to be more effectively connected to computers and servers all over the world."
"The seamless integration of chat, our ITSM management software, and remote viewing/control software makes for a valuable tool."
"The jump to feature function is the most valuable to us as it allows us to directly remote control customers."
"Bomgar has allowed our service desk (based in India) and our other support personnel based in the US to seamlessly support our users worldwide."
"The most valuable part of RDS is that it allows you to work from any location and check the server through a VPN connection."
"The solution is easy to deploy and there are many features available that you can turn on or off depending on your budget."
"Microsoft Remote Desktop Services is scalable."
"The solution is easy to use."
"Microsoft Remote Desktop Services is highly stable."
"It's built into the operating system and has a command line interface capability to insert credentials, IDs, a password, et cetera."
"The most valuable feature is that it gives me full accessibility to my servers."
"The solution performs well and is easy to use."

Cons

"There could be more competent processes and improvements in the policy space."
"Historically, Group Policy has simplified the management of various items, such as printer and drive mappings and while Intune offers workarounds, it lacks native support for these functionalities."
"I would like to see Intune improve its handling of hybrid domain joins. We continue to experience issues with machines losing their hybrid domain join status."
"We are currently unable to control aspects of group policy from Teams like we can for GPO. They are still not part of Intune. Microsoft is adding this, but it's currently in preview, and few GPO features have been added to the product."
"Intune could be enhanced by automating application upgrades, similar to how it automates operating system upgrades."
"Microsoft support was not very responsive, and it took approximately one and a half months to get on a call to clear what the problem was."
"Microsoft Intune has potential for improvement; I would like to see a lot more customization in the reporting tools."
"There's a significant discrepancy in Intune pricing between tenants."
"The screen annotation tools could be expanded. I would like to see a text/typing annotation tool."
"It lacks voice integration like the other products because they need the compression to support that large amount of concurrent sessions. We've had to sacrifice voice."
"I would have picked an internal team member who was going to stay on the team for more time. Shortly after we went live, we had a change of staff and lost the main implementer."
"Static notes for hosts: If I could enter notes on a Jump Client and have them appear every time I connect to that Client, it would be a huge benefit."
"There were a few employee devices that failed during the initial deployment, which required a second deployment."
"Lacks some kind of voice communication option."
"The ability to connect mobile devices could be improved. Smartphones and tablets are becoming more prevalent throughout corporate environments. From time to time, we have problems connecting to those devices. You can't stage the application to connect without a user's input. You had to guide them through enabling permissions for the app. Then they need to enter the URL and session key. It would be great if they could streamline that process."
"It is pricey. It would be nice if it weren't so expensive because then you could afford more licenses and have more people involved, but I get it. They do have something that's unique compared to some of their competitors out on the market. It is a very robust and safe tool. If the price could come down, that'd be great."
"We'd like to see more integration with other vendors."
"Remote Desktop Services doesn't scale well."
"We encounter challenges with portability, especially for users of iOS devices."
"The user interface needs improvement."
"Its look and feel could be updated. In Azure Remote Desktop Services (RDS), which is a VDI solution, we would like to see linked clones. It is a Hyper-V solution, and it doesn't support linked clones and uses a lot of storage. That's why we don't use it. VMware has a similar solution that supports linked clones for the master image."
"The product is not very scalable."
"The only issue I experienced was with the initialization of the session, which affected the stability of the solution."
"From the perspective of an IT professional, Microsoft Remote Desktop is very easy to use. However, it could be made easier to use for the end user, especially when it comes to activating it."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Microsoft Intune is expensive."
"Its pricing seems reasonable."
"The price of Microsoft Intune is reasonable."
"We have a limited budget for security investments, so Microsoft should consider reducing pricing in our region. This would make investment more viable, especially since larger businesses in other countries can afford it easily."
"There is a license required to use this solution. However, it was part of a bundle package. Microsoft Intune is far less expensive than other solutions, such as Workspace ONE."
"Our enterprise agreement includes Microsoft Intune at no additional cost."
"Its price is fair. It's a normal price. It isn't too expensive or too cheap."
"The price is very reasonable."
"This product provides value for money."
"The product maintenance and licensing costs are on the higher end, so I would carefully review how many licenses you need. The concurrent license model is helpful in this manner."
"BeyondTrust Remote Support is a very expensive product."
"Their pricing is a little bit high but it's negotiable depending on the type of client. It is approximately R6,000 per year for a user. I would rate the pricing a four out of five."
"It is not the most cost effective solution on the market."
"I would like to order more licenses. This would allow us to support more end users concurrently."
"It is expensive. Performance-wise, it is pretty good, but we're less happy with the cost. Its licensing is on a yearly basis. It is also on a per-technician basis. A certain number of concurrent technicians can log in and access all the features."
"The licensing is concurrent and we spend about $10,000. It's my understanding that there aren't any extra costs beyond just the straight licensing."
"The price of Microsoft Remote Desktop Services is reasonable. The solution can come for free for some clients with certain agreements."
"I recall that you don't need to pay for Microsoft Remote Desktop Services because that's included in Windows."
"The price of Microsoft Remote Desktop Services is reasonable."
"It's not an expensive solution."
"I would say it's expensive as there similar products available for free."
"It's not an expensive product."
"The solution comes free with Microsoft Windows."
"The pricing is moderate."
