Helps us to implement and understand the status of our projects
The initial setup is straightforward. The solution's deployment takes around two months time. We have to set up the solution. We have to put in the data to ensure that the solution is working. We need to fill out our process, our tools, and our data. Two developers were involved in the deployment process. It is a self-maintained solution that requires updates from time to time. I rate the setup an eight out of ten.

Centralized workflows have boosted cross-team collaboration and made complex projects manageable
monday.com can continue to improve their AI capabilities. When comparing monday.com to several alternatives when I was evaluating a project and project management, product road mapping, and workflow management platform for us, I looked at competitors such as Asana, ClickUp, SmartSheet, Airtable, and Notion. In my opinion, competitors such as Airtable and SmartSheet, especially followed by Asana and ClickUp, have worked on their AI and generative AI roadmap to combine database functionality with a very user-friendly interface for knowledge management and project tracking, essentially combining both worlds. Their AI is more sophisticated than what monday.com has released thus far. They provide a cleaner task-focused workflow management platform and I think that monday.com can still improve on this core piece of their technology. I think monday.com could also seek to be more process-oriented and intuitive. Other alternatives such as Asana and SmartSheet offer that approach. There is a steeper learning curve to learn monday.com in my opinion compared to Airtable, Asana, and others because I have also used those tools and platforms at other organizations. There is a bit of a learning curve with new users on monday.com because it is not as streamlined as I have experienced with competitors such as SmartSheet or Airtable. The capability sets are great, however, you may need to be hand-held via a monday.com rep when you get started within your organization or view the library of tutorials that monday.com has available. You can also view them on YouTube and that will help you get started on monday.com.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I would recommend trying planningIT"
"The dashboard is the most valuable feature."
"ERP approach to IT (edit architecture elements as data using forms, easier for many people compared to drawing / modeling) Hundreds of predefined reports (not only for analysis but also for displaying profiles for single elements like an application including dynamically generated diagrams based on edited data) Very sophisticated meta model (dozens of man years of experience condensed in it) Enterprise collaboration features Web client for the enterprise, either on-site installation or running in a private cloud."
"My personal experience with the product was good, primarily because of the support team's responsiveness."
"The many different ways to organize boards, either for the whole team or just for me, have been a very efficient way to keep track of work, as well as a centralized place for team communication."
"It improved the communication between all the teams and the company, especially during remote work due to COVID."
"It made the collaboration between marketing and creative studio teams much neater and seamless."
"The user experience of Monday.com is exceptional; it's very easy to navigate and customize to our needs, and it's an outstanding product."
"Monday is the perfect time management tool."
"Monday is our home base for everything product-related, but we also use it for other teams as well."
"Without Monday, it would have been impossible for us to achieve the same level of success that we have recently seen."
"I like how you can trigger notifications and reminders automatically when different statuses are changed or updated."

Cons

"The user-experience, enhanced performance, and in-hand governance can be improved."
"The tool is clearly not very intuitive."
"Only few predefined integrations with other tools exist, most integrations are implemented via an integration module based on XML typically needing vendor expertise."
"I would love to be able to hide rows visibility. Currently, this is only available for columns."
"We'd like integration with SharePoint so that it becomes easier to find and share files stored in SharePoint."
"The site could load a bit faster. I notice when I'm in locations with internet that isn't as speedy (like when I'm tethering with my phone) it can lag a bit."
"I often find it difficult to keep track of all the projects I am involved in."
"Without having to go to the Enterprise level, I would love to see better access controls so that we can securely build boards that we can share with clients to manage their work/projects (and in our own branding and own URL)."
"I wish there were more calculations available across boards and pulses."
"In my initial exposure to the interface, I did not find it to be very user-friendly."
"The solution could use a more streamlined Google Calendar integration."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is expensive. There is a yearly licensing cost. There are no additional costs, only the standard license, and the cloud license."
"I think monday.com's paywalls are a little too high. Some basic features are locked behind the premium subscription. Some applications they offer within their subscription model are locked in an expensive package. These applications provide functionality that would benefit small teams, but it's too much money for a startup or a small business."
"I wasn't involved with the licensing, but I believe it's negotiable."
"Though I am unsure about the product's pricing plan, there is a need to make monthly payments towards the licensing costs attached to the solution, and it operates on a per-user plan."
"Fees are paid monthly per user."
"The project manager would be responsible for any licensing fees. As an end-user, we just follow suit."
"monday.com's pricing is fair compared to its competitors, although it is a bit more expensive than most of them. It's more expensive than Jira, Zoho, ClickUp, and Trello. But it is fairly priced when you compare the kinds of features and the capabilities that you get and the ROI."
"The pricing of monday.com was a little bit high for us, especially here in South Africa, compared to Basecamp."
"I am using the tool's free version."
