Centralized identity governance has automated lifecycle management and simplifies compliance
One Identity Manager could be improved by making the initial setup and configuration simpler, especially for complex workflows and integrations. The user interface and reporting dashboards could also be more modern and intuitive with better out-of-the-box analytics. Additionally, clearer documentation and faster implementation guidance would help organizations get value more quickly. One specific challenge my team encountered was the complexity during initial configuration, especially when setting up custom workflows and role models which required more time and expertise. We also felt that out-of-the-box reports and dashboards are limited, and more customizable real-time analytics would be helpful. Better documentation and guided setup wizards would make adoption easier, particularly for teams new to identity governance tools. One improvement I think One Identity Manager needs is the enhanced self-service experience. The end-user self-service portal could be more intuitive with clearer guidance for access requests and password resets. Additionally, while integrations are solid, deeper cloud-native connectors and API-driven automation would help in hybrid and multi-cloud environments. A more responsive mobile interface or dedicated app for approvals and tasks would help managers who are often on the go. One more improvement is the built-in predictive insights or trend dashboards around access patterns and risk could improve proactive governance. More descriptive error messages and in-tool troubleshooting tips during setup configuration would reduce dependency on external documentation or support.

User access management excels but needs enhancements with integration capabilities
I was aware of that because I used to manage these solutions earlier on, but it was purchased by the Procurement team, so I was not involved in any of those. There are certain details I may not be able to disclose currently, but we can speak in general about a number of products and tools that are ongoing. I have not been using access management controls here, so I don't have the latest features or details or hands-on experience in that space. I cannot share all the details about the improvements in security operations since we were exploring some products, but I'm familiar with Saviynt as I was one of their partners for other solutions, and currently, I cannot disclose a lot of performance related to my current roles.

Identity management enhances connectivity and productivity with streamlined access and robust security, offering time-saving processes and facilitating seamless integration with other BI tools
One area that could be improved with SAP Identity Management, other than support, is user engagement from an implementation perspective. It would be beneficial for SAP to extend their events and workshops that are currently performed for partners to their final customers, as many customers want to know what's new and what else they can do without solely depending on the partners. For SAP support in Brazil, everything is in English, which poses a difficulty for many customers. The support could be improved for the specific needs in Brazil, as many customers have difficulty accessing the support center due to the language barrier. This feedback is specific to Brazil, though it's unclear if SAP receives similar feedback from other countries. It could certainly be enhanced with Portuguese documents, among other improvements.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"One of the most valuable features is the ability for business people to input their knowledge about business processes directly into the product. It's a good tool for anyone familiar with business or technical administration. The shopping cart capability for requests and the catalog features were also initially valuable."
"From an end-user perspective, it is very easy to use. There is no need to follow extensive documentation; you just need to go through the process while raising a request."
"I find it user-friendly."
"It is very comprehensive. There are a lot of features in the product. The strong points are that you can model your organization in One Identity Manager and create roles."
"The solution does help us efficiently manage lots of authorizations automatically."
"Workflow management is an important feature. With other identity management products, there was no workflow management so we had to build it ourselves."
"The most valuable feature of One Identity Manager for me is its Designer tool."
"One Identity Manager is an IGA tool with everything available in the same tool; for example, Identity Lifecycle, attestation, certifications, and role-based access management are all available in one tool."
"This solution is great for providing control access across your environment."
"Depending on the requirements, SailPoint IdentityIQ provides a lot of functionality that can suit any enterprise's requirements."
"I think the certification module is perhaps one of the most valuable features."
"It significantly reduces the workload for certification processes."
"One of the most valuable aspects of SailPoint is its open integration interface."
"I find the solution to be comprehensive."
"IdentityIQ's best features are the hassle-free user experience and security."
"The most powerful feature of the solution is its platform-based approach. Unlike other solutions, this tool offers a high level of customization. It is an open and flexible platform, allowing users to tailor it to their needs. This ability to customize and adapt the solution to individual requirements makes the solution stand out as a powerful product."
"The most valuable features of SAP Identity Management are business roles and automated user provisioning."
"Rather than implement a basic SSO, this solution assisted us with setting up two-factor authentication."
"NW IDM is extremely flexible, and with a small amount of effort you can integrate the basic provisioning for most of the commonly used modern systems."
"What's most valuable in SAP Identity Management is that it's easily an out-of-the-box solution for connectivity with SAP applications. We do not have to do any customizations, and this makes the solution very compatible with most SAP applications. SAP Identity Management is also very user-friendly."
"What I found most valuable in SAP Identity Management is process automation."
"Automatic provisioning by designed workflows are valuable in any authorization audit."
"With SAP IDM we have stopped manually managing all changes in user accounts after his/her transferring between organizational units."
"What's most valuable in SAP Identity Management is that it's easily an out-of-the-box solution for connectivity with SAP applications."

Cons

"We would like the product to integrate with ServiceNow, since One Identity Manager and ServiceNow are two of our better tools."
"What is missing is a mobile user interface for the end-users so that they can do simple things on their mobile phones on the go."
"The UI may need some improvement, but it's still great. GraphQL Cloud isn't quite visible yet to the end users, and they said there are some issues there because we have lots of users on board, so it takes time to reflect when the approval is going through and who they should contact to get it approved. The smoothness in that UI performance could be better."
"The support team could be improved on. The first level of support essentially looks up knowledge base articles and often can't provide the answer needed."
"We take screenshots with the time stamp and give them to the auditors. That's cumbersome to do, even if we're only audited once or twice yearly. I take a screenshot and then show them the time to prove that the configuration is consistent. We have built-in processes to take regular screenshots and store them in a secure place for the auditors. It would be helpful if One Identity store the configuration details as a snapshot. It would also help with any rollbacks or change reviews that the organization might want to do."
"I also find it difficult to add resources to the business roles because we have to use many options in One Manager for that. We have to add it to the IT shop so that the users can submit requests through the web portal, and we must generate that IT shop structure to add resources to the business. There is a lot of complexity in that."
"The solution can be improved from a front-end point of view. It slows the portal down."
"The current version we have is stable but there are bugs, of course. There are many bugs."
"SailPoint IdentityIQ needs to improve its customization. It should also incorporate some standardized tools for implementation."
"There are more functionalities in the Cloud that could be explored."
"The price of IdentityIQ could be lower. There are additional costs when you buy the licenses, and they force the customers to pay for them."
"Broke down several times during my 4 months but overall the delays were mostly minor."
"This solution is difficult to configure."
"They can work on their strategy for the on-premise version. They have to decide whether and for how long they will support the on-premise version. The new features first appear in the cloud, and after that, they are released for the on-premise version. In the cloud, you have more options and flexibility, which is absolutely normal. They have to have a clear strategy regarding whether they'll support the on-premises version with the same focus. The licensing for on-premise and cloud is a little bit different. They can make it the same."
"The workflow and user interface of SailPoint are not as smooth as ServiceNow's. I find raising a ticket to be too complex, which could be improved for better user-friendliness."
"Needs to focus on automation wherein provisioning of work can be improved and access certification should be automated without the intervention from a manager for approval."
"It needs to have the SSO for the HANA modules that SAP is releasing."
"The current functionality allows you only to change one user at a time. There is no option to maintain the business roles from the UI using standard validation or imports, so you have to build your business roles one by one."
"Research and marketing need to be improved."
"What needs improvement in SAP Identity Management is its compatibility with third-party applications. We'd like to get connectors or plugin settings to make it easier to manage other applications, whether SAP or non SAP applications. As SAP Identity Management is not compatible with non SAP applications, some of the clients are looking for other IDM applications such as SalePoint and Saviynt, so this is an issue we've observed in the solution."

"A lack of startup connectors to different systems, and could have better connectors for SAP IDM."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We are paying for premium support, which is expensive. However, we do receive very good, fast support."
"One Identity Manager has a reasonable price point."
"The solution is flexible, in general. You can define the parts of the solution that you want to use, and it won't affect the price."
"One Identity Manager is priced in the middle range but offers good value due to lower implementation time compared to competitors. Total cost of ownership is crucial where the main expense is in implementation, not licensing."
"On-premises, it is cheap. It is way cheaper than others. The cost of the hosted one varies. They do offer a hosted one, and its cost varies, but it is not that expensive. You have a license for employees and a license for support."
"You get a lot of bang for your buck with One Identity. It has many features that are included in the standard IGA license. Most people who are considering buying One Identity don't understand how much power is behind it in engines."
"The pricing is okay."
"It is fairly priced because they provide all the features by default. That is why they charge a bit more than other vendors. I am not sure about the exact cost part, but One Identity is a little bit more expensive than IBM and other tools."
"You are able to get discounts if you plan to use the tool for the long-term i.e. discounts for 5+ years of usage."
"It is affordable licensing."
"SailPoint is higher in price as compared to Saviynt. The initial cost of SailPoint is very high. There are additional costs to the standard licensing fees."
"You do pay one price for the license but that price depends on what you choose to include as far as the optional modules go."
"The pricing is a little bit higher than other tools."
"SailPoint IIQ is the best of best. That is reflected in the pricing of the solution. The pricing is based on the number of identities."
"The product is expensive. People need to opt for a licensing plan for one year or three years."
"They are expensive."
"The licensing cost varies depending on the specific requirements and deployment size."
"When evaluating the price of any product, I first look at how it meets my business requirements and if it meets requirements adequately and predictively. Currently, I don't see this from SAP Identity Management, so pricing for it is expensive, in my opinion."
"I rate the solution's pricing a four out of ten."
