Collaborative work with students has improved but storage limitations and support issues remain
We have Google Workspace, and we use it primarily for Drive to collect items. We categorize folders with topics and material either for students or for research. We use Google Doc to share documents, especially when we assign homework to be corrected for peer correction or classroom correction. With Teams and Microsoft, we use it for collective calls and exam supervision because we use video surveillance through camera with Teams. We use Teams for meetings and to share material with students. The ability to share documents with students and assign them things and correct them in real time has been beneficial. You can verify what they write, and they can contribute and cooperate to create a collective document, which is something that our society nowadays requires. The ability to cooperate, especially those who work with languages and those who work with writing, need to learn how to cooperate. There is co-editing and co-writing, all these sorts of things. I love the fact that I can easily have access to folders that I can categorize and where I can upload research material and teaching material.

The ability to have duplicate document names is very useful for content migration. During trouble-shooting you will discover that the logs are all over the place.
During trouble-shooting you will discover that the logs are all over the place - even on servers you would not expect - and fragmented into dozens of files, yet the detail is excellent. It's Java execution logs, so needs a bit of interpretation skill, though. Speaking of Java, the web interface requires JRE and degrades in mysterious ways without it: No warnings or graceful fall-back. The web UI is otherwise VERY awkward and limited in functionality. The Windows client on the other hand is extremely dated but rich in functionality - not pretty, though. Despite the API, there is no vendor support for integration into any other systems except through HTML frames.

Reliable, user-friendly, and secure
The initial setup is straightforward. It's not complicated. I’ve done the deployment when I was in Citrix and the deployment for the current customer and therefore have experience doing this a few times. How long the deployment takes is up to the customer in terms of what type of storage zone controller you're going to operate. If you're going to operate on-premise, then you need to have the network team and the server, physical server, the load balances, and storage zone controller storage deployed. It shouldn't take, if the infrastructure is ready, more than a week. IN that time, you can set up the entire full-fledged configuration and have enrollment running if you have all the hardware and the communications ready. That's on the on-premise side. If it's on a specific cloud, even when you purchase the procurement, it won't take even a day. In 24 hours, you will be up and running easily on the ShareFile cloud if you are working with the Citrix cloud. If you're doing a private cloud, then the communication to open the ports between the ShareFile can complain to the private cloud. That might be at least a week, depending on the internal teams. If they work very fast and smoothly, it's a matter of a day. You only need one person to maintain the solution. It’s pretty low-maintenance.

Pros

"The most valuable part of G Suite is the integration among all of the components."

You can manage your whole team and have many tools. Over seven years, the solution has gone through some drastic upgrades and improvements which are done automatically, I do not have to manual upgrade."
"The speed and response time are the most valuable aspects of the solution; it's always quick and available, and I don't think there's ever been a time when it's been unreliable."

Cons

"We would like to use something within Google Workspace for project management, but we didn't find it there."
"I believe that Sheets could have a more functional and user-friendly interface. Google Sheets currently lacks macros and cross file links which can be found in Excel."
"The cost could be improved. It can sometimes be a bit confusing figuring out how we are actually being charged."
"It takes a long time to import the data from G Suite into another platform."
"Integrating Copilot with Google Workspace is slightly difficult."
"The only inconvenience is the fact that you have limited storage. After a while, you have to buy a surplus."
"The solution has a complicated licensing structure and it's expensive, especially for small businesses."
"G Suite could offer something a little more solid in terms of chat — something that is a little more like Slack and integrates with everything. But, unfortunately, the chat is very basic there. It doesn't offer that many features and feels like it doesn't belong there."
"Upgrades can be nightmares, partly because there can be architecture and engine changes in minor version increments."
"The user interface is not very intuitive."
"Some of our customers are facing issues if they've deployed in hybrid mode."
"The configuration on the mobile devices is a little clunky, in terms of setting up the application."
"My only issue with this solution is the cost, which should be improved."
"The configuration on the mobile devices is a little clunky, in terms of setting up the application."
"Some of our customers are facing issues when sending files outside their company."
"Reporting features could be better Support could be better; we don't usually need it but I have read a number of complaints from users with more complex implementations (API use, AD integration) that have had issues."
"Everything they have should be integrated into one item."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is a bit on the higher side than normal. For a basic Google account it costs $100, but Enterprise is %150."
"It's about $8.30 up a user per month."
"It's cheaper to run a couple of users in a Google platform than what it would be with Microsoft Exchange."
"Licensing costs are on a yearly basis."
"The price of G Suite Enterprise is reasonable compared to HotSpot. I'm not going to say G Suite Enterprise is affordable. It's valuable, you find value in paying your gas bill or your electricity bill, because of what it allows you to do."
"There are several areas where a G Suite implementation can reduce costs: lower license fees than some competing products, reduced hardware, and IT support costs."
"We have purchased an annual subscription."
"We receive value for the price that we pay."
Information not available

"If you are already a Citrix customer, I recommend having the Platinum licensing level, as it provides licensing for a number of various features that all integrate together."
"Citrix has a very good file auditing features and security features."
