Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable features are load balancing and WAF.""F5 BIG-IQ reduces the propensity for error.""F5 BIG-IQ is a central management system for the BIG-IP.""The reporting feature is quite good.""We use this solution on a daily basis, and it is very stable.""Features like AFM, the gateway, and Global DNS are the coolest features that save work for us.""Scalability: To move from larger boxes to smaller boxes, along with virtualization. So, we are not locked into a particular size.""The backup, monitoring and logging are the best features."

"The workflow engine of K2 is its main strength. Its workflow engine is probably one of the best, and that's the reason why Nintex bought K2. It can clearly handle any complex process or scenario. K2 is almost low-code. It is a no-code or low-code solution. You don't have to read a whole lot of code. It is pretty much GUI based. Their support is also excellent. The biggest advantage of K2 is SmartObjects, which allow you to separate the data from the application. It is a standalone application that allows you to build a data source from different places, which a lot of other applications also do. It is called SmartObjects technology, which is pretty powerful. If I have data from different applications, such as JD and ServiceNow, I can just create a SmartObject based on a data source and use it. I have some forms that have six, seven, or eight applications in a single form with data from different places.""The Vizio-style designer that runs in the browser is, to me, by far the most valuable feature of the solution. It means that the customer doesn’t have to install any client tools to create powerful workflows.""Our solutions using Nintex has been most successful in automating HR processes because it allows you to easily and rapidly build solutions that conform to the unique business processes for each entity.""K2 is reasonably priced.""I think that it adds value to any organization, mainly in terms of business applications where you need workflows.""NWC forms could be better. Also, the ability to build workflows that are not dependent on SharePoint is very desirable. The forms feature just isn’t as functional as the forms for SharePoint.""Provides the ability to automate SharePoint processes (building sites, lists, updating content). You can also automate document and content processes, onboarding and offboarding, and general IT and HR solutions.""This solution is very easy to use and customize, using almost zero coding. It's built on SharePoint which many companies in our country have experience with. This made it easy to adapt the application in our environment."

Cons
"The shell, kernel, or Linux has something like a delay, especially with the Virtual Edition, when you are trying to implement it in the cloud and you want to access it remotely with web management. It would be great if they could improve their kernel. It was difficult for me, especially when I got started with BIG-IP. I was struggling to find which commands work with it. If you want to work with it, you have to be a Linux guy.""Sometimes the solution does not work.""F5 BIG-IQ is a complex solution, and it cannot manage everything related to BIG-IPs.""The solution's rSeries has been made free, and iSeries should be made free as well.""There are a lot of scripts available on the internet for people who know how to use them, but with a graphical interface, it would be easier for new users.""Integration with VAS is something that they need to work on.""They could use YAML or JSON if they wanted to make it a little bit easier for us.""F5 BIG-IQ should improve by being a complete certificate management solution because currently, it is only for Venafi. Other automation platforms, should be added."

More F5 BIG-IQ Cons →

"User interface could use some improvement. Perhaps integration with Visual Studio or SharePoint Designer would be useful.""Converting a document from PDF to MS Word, or vice versa, needs to be improved.""It's very tedious to manage.""Unfortunately, Nintex Workflow is not that stable. We are looking at shifting to another tool.""The interface could be better and more language support is needed in the development environment or in the solutions platform in general.""Nintex seems to be very server intensive. It is one of the reasons that we are moving to a different product on the SharePoint 2016 platform.""The cost of the solution is high and has room for improvement.""Currently, copying workflow actions from one workflow to another is not possible. Also, the Office 365 solution is not as mature as on-premise."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I would like the product to be cheaper."
  • "There is only one licensing fee for F5 BIG-IQ and everything is included in the price."
  • "F5 BIG-IQ is a cheap solution."
  • "Users have to pay an annual subscription fee for the solution's iSeries."
  • More F5 BIG-IQ Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Nintex products are expensive, but valuable. Licensing in on-premise was historically based on a perpetual model, where you’d license per Web front-end. However, they are switching exclusively to a consumption (subscription) model, where you purchase the number of workflows you think you’ll use in your environment, and can scale up from there."
  • "Offering a licensing model that allows for multiple small workflows would be a huge improvement to an already great platform."
  • "Our maintenance costs are reduced."
  • "The annual support costs are expensive."
  • "Comparatively, it's expensive."
  • "We pay on a yearly basis. It's my understanding that we pay approximately $11,000/year."
  • "The initial investment in K2 is heavy. Currently, the expenditure is $28,000 for a year. After we go to the cloud, it is going to be per seat and probably cheaper. Currently, there are unlimited users."
  • "There is an initial fee when purchasing and a fee for maintenance afterward."
