Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It has a great career time monitoring tool.""It shows you so many details of what's going on in that log-on that, if there's a problem, you can identify it in five minutes.""When using ControlUp, the core feature that we have found valuable is its UI. It is a valuable tool to view the analysis reactions of a base core Level 2 or Level 1 team so that they can complete the necessary troubleshooting.""The script-based actions have allowed us to extend the core reporting capabilities.""The most valuable features in ControlUp are endpoint monitoring and the many features that are available.""Security, uptime, and reduced capital expenditures are the main reasons we use ControlUp. So basically, the money that we consume is based on the amount of time we are using a service.""The most valuable feature is the granularity of visibility into the resources that are in use by our applications.""ControlUp has an easy installation process."

"It is a powerful tool that allows users to collect and transform logs as needed, enabling flexible visualization and analysis.""The solution allows us to dig deep into data.""The solution has been stable in our usage.""Elastic Observability significantly improves incident response time by providing quick access to logs and data across various sources. For instance, searching for specific keywords in logs spanning over a month from multiple data sources can be completed within seconds.""The price is very less expensive compared to the other solutions.""Good design and easy to use once implemented.""The most valuable feature of Elastic Observability is the text search.""We can view and connect different sources to the dashboard using it."

Cons
"The most common complaint that I have heard, at least within our organization, is about reporting. They have their own reporting. It's just that it doesn't yet include everything that you can look at within the application. You can only report on specific metrics or collections.""Something I would love to see from a partner perspective would be maybe a way to do this in a surface hosting provider.""This solution be improved by including load throttling tools. For example, I can identify a service where we spend a lot of CPU but I cannot restrict the service from ControlUp. I have to use another tool like AppSense.""Solve is a quick and intuitive tool for quickly mapping data together, however, once you have the view of the data that you like, it is difficult to share this with colleagues.""The graphical user interface needs to be improved from version to version.""ControlUp could improve the integration. Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop monitoring has better integration.""We'd like to see the mobile app working again so that we can get alerts 24/7. This is especially useful for the person on call.""It can be improved by including script-based scheduling."

More ControlUp Cons →

"The auto-discovery isn't nearly as good. That's a big portion of it. When you drop the agent onto the JVM and you're trying to figure things out, having to go through and manually do all that is cumbersome.""The cost must be made more transparent.""There is room for improvement regarding its APM capabilities.""Elastic Observability is an excellent product for monitoring and visibility, but it lacks predictive analytics. Most solutions are aligned with the AIOps requirements, but this piece is missing in Elastic and should be included.""The solution would be better if it was capable of more automation, especially in a monitoring capacity or for the response to abnormalities.""They need more skills in the market. There are not enough skills in the market. It is not pervasive enough on the market, in my opinion. In other words, there isn't a big enough user base.""In the future, Elastic APM needs a portfolio iTool. They can provide an easy way to develop the custom UI for Kibana.""There could be more low-code features included in the product."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "We are satisfied with the price compared to other solutions."
  • "Personally, I would say that the only thing I could compare it to is another monitoring tool that we use, Nagios."
  • More ControlUp Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "So far, there are just the standard licensing fees. Several of the components are embedded in the license or are even open source. They're even free depending on what you use, which makes it even more appealing to someone that is discussing pricing of the solution."
  • "There are two types: cloud and SaaS. They charge based on data ingestion, ingest rate, hard retention, and warm retention. I believe it costs around $25,000 annually to ingest 30GB of data daily. That is the SaaS version. There is also a self-managed license where the customer manages their own infrastructure on-prem. In such cases, there are three license tiers that respectively cost $5,000 annually per node, $7,000 per node, and $12,500 per node."
  • "Pricing is one of those situations where the more you use it, the more you pay."
  • "The price of Elastic Observability is expensive."
  • "Users have to pay for some features, like the alerts on different channels, because they are unavailable in different source versions."
  • "One needs to pay for the licenses, and it is an annual subscription model right now."
  • "Since we are a huge company, Elastic Observability is an affordable solution for us."
  • "We will buy a premium license after POC."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by PeerSpot users currently using the ControlUp solution.

A Chair, IEEE Consumer Technology Society - Dallas,Texas, USA at a non-profit says, “In terms of the public cloud, ControlUp's features make us feel very secure. Security, uptime, and reduced capital expenditures are the main reasons we use ControlUp. So basically, the money that we consume is based on the amount of time we are using a service. ControlUp offers a return-on-investment type of approach that helps us.”

A VP Virtualisation and Citrix Engineer at BlackRock mentions, “Solve is quickly becoming one of the most-used features. Its interface allows us to connect to all 54,000 monitored endpoints in real-time. The script-based actions have allowed us to extend the core reporting capabilities. Combined with the triggers, we have been growing their usage to fix things before they become an issue. Lastly, the controller view allows us to compare the configurations of settings side-by-side which is extremely helpful when tracking down the RCA of an issue.”

A Senior Citrix Remote Access Engineer at Rabobank comments, “The high-level view of the estate coupled with powerful administration tools has been great. We can see real-time performance and trends and can create triggers for common issues with associated scripts that can automate a lot of the previous manual remediation steps.”
