A solution with a great monitoring system and ability to control access remotely
The initial setup was straightforward. Deployment depends on the size of a customer. We make the customer in the enterprise server, and there is a download per customer for the installation package. We can also roll it out very easily, and when we install it on one or two systems, it explores the network for more systems. We can then fire a deployment package on the other systems. So in one hour, we can do a lot. Most of the time, 90% of the work is very easy, and the last 10% are the business-critical systems from a customer. Also, we manually install important customer systems, like special applications where we like to monitor specific services in the server itself.

Offers some features but needs better customization and analysis tools
There are solutions that can perform better, but due to pricing for our corporate implementation, we had to stay with this solution. It accomplishes the necessary tasks, but there is room for improvement. The features are not as customizable as we would prefer, but they are workable. If configured properly, you can perform a drill-down analysis. However, I have not used this feature much for our infrastructure on the network side.

"Using this platform has allowed us to reach and assist our remotely based clients, regardless of their location provided they have an internet connection."
"One of the applications I have used the most was to troubleshoot users and I've never faced difficulties or issues with the application itself."
"We like the patching of the window updates in the client's systems. You can automatically do updates with a single click."
"It has made life a lot easier for the administrators."
"Since our devices are spread out across the world, we can see the status of these devices without having to send someone physically to a remote location, which saves money."
"In real-time, we know when there's an issue on our network and it helps us to be proactive to solve the situation."
"The alerts we are getting when we start losing connection access have been helpful."
"The solution and its interface are elaborate and fully integrate all monitored items for easy analysis and troubleshooting."

"SolarWinds Network Device Monitor is a straightforward product with valuable functionality."
"Overall, I rate SolarWinds Network Device Monitor ten out of ten."

Cons

"They have good technical support but it's not excellent."
"Sometimes the speed is a problem. When I've been remote controlling people, from time to time, there were some issues with people in Hong Kong."
"However, the solution does not allow you to make a script for just one customer, so it would be great if that is improved."
"They have good technical support but it's not excellent."
"Support needs to be improved because we've sometimes had to wait 24 hours to get a response."
"GUI needs to be improved and the solution lacks a process for monitoring VOIP calls."
"There are some bugs or glitches."
"The solution does not allow you to make a script for just one customer."
"The data is in the system but we are unable to pull it because reporting is not integrated and versatile."
"It would be beneficial if SolarWinds Network Device Monitor could provide a feature to monitor CRC errors specifically on individual interfaces rather than the entire device. This would help in detecting intermittent issues and packet drops on main links more accurately, especially when there are CRC errors. It's important for us to be aware of these issues to avoid any voice quality problems or interruptions on our MTS links."
"Integration with different tools, such as ServiceNow and Excel, can be improved."
"There were certain aspects that weren't supported exactly. I was just able to monitor some basic things."
"The security needs improvement, which is why we are moving away from Solar Winds. We have security concerns."
"When an organization's network grows, the complexity of the dashboard becomes an area of concern where improvements are required."
"The solution lacks in performance monitoring."
"In terms of price, it could be less expensive."
