Real-time alerts have reduced server outage impact and support fast incident response
In the dashboard, if they could show a little more metrics regarding the application and related things, that would be how New Relic could be improved. Currently, there are things showing from the server level and application level, but it can be improved. That is what I felt. Regarding user interface, I do not feel much concern, but for some kind of issues when we are trying to get support from the New Relic team, their SLA seems to be long. They are taking seven to ten working days for resolving some kind of scenario or issue. That is a bit difficult for us. If they could improve the customer support by reducing their SLA within three to five days, if they could remediate everything, that will be so much helpful. When it comes to the customer support part, I felt they need to be a little more improved on that part. The support overall is good, but they can improve. That is the reason I have given it eight out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The initial setup of ExtremeAnalytics is straightforward and user-friendly."
"The application response latency is valuable and suitable for troubleshooting."
"The solution's scalability is a ten out of ten."
"The most valuable feature of ExtremeAnalytics is wireless intrusion prevention."
"It gives insights to non-technical people about what technical issues are most important, how much it impacts customers, and potentially, where we should be targeting our development teams when they have time."
"In my opinion, New Relic is a good tool, and if a colleague was asking my opinion, I would say "Go ahead and use it!" It is a good solution."
"The APM feature is highly valuable as it can record session hosts, usage, and diagnose customer behaviors."
"If you want to keep monitoring your site and find the performance of it, this is a good option to do so."
"New Relic has been in the business for a while, it offers a wide selection to attach a monitoring mobile app, server, and cloud, and if you want to go with just one product, it fits all your needs."
"From the perspective of effort and time taken while identifying issues and resolution, we have gained a lot."
"New Relic has proven itself as a very reliable and convenient way to monitor your servers and applications."
"What I like best about New Relic APM is its user interface because it's simple. The most valuable feature of New Relic APM is end-to-end monitoring."

Cons

"There are issues with cloud distribution of the servers, and it could be faster."
"The solution's stability needs to be improved."
"ExtremeAnalytics could improve application control. The URL filtering is not working properly. We have had issues with the reports and heat maps not working as expected. We have been receiving download errors when attempting to retrieve the heat maps and reports."
"Sometimes it works really slow, but I think it depends on the organization-to-organization usage."
"Email alert customization is limited."
"I'd like a way to pull charts and data into third-party services. If we can pull that data and recreate charts, that would be great."
"About six months to a year ago, we invested a lot of time automating a lot of our interactions with New Relic. However, their API couldn't do a lot of things, and even getting a list of errors was impossible without scrubbing every application/server manually and checking health conditions yourself."
"The product's initial setup phase is not straightforward to manage if you have no experience with installations, making it an area that can be improved."
"While the New Relic dashboards and UI are customizable, they can sometimes lead to a clumsy behavior."
"One major issue for me with New Relic is data privacy."
"If you are concerned about how your services behave, then New Relic shouldn't be your first choice."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is an eight out of ten."
"The price of the solution is approximately $100 to $120 and is paid annually."
"We spend somewhere around $5,000 to $6,000 per month with an annual recommitment of maybe $60,000. These are just ballpark figures."
"This solution required a license and it is better than some other competitors."
"I loved this product, but we can no longer afford it, so we dropped it."
"The monthly cost os $1000 per server per month, but it could be even more. We pay about $250 for the server, and then New Relic wants over $1000 to give us statistics on those servers."
"Cost is significant with a lot of extras."
"The solution is cheap, but prices can go up when users grow."
"The pricing could be better. We did not purchase the full version. Maybe if we applied all the other features of the full version of New Relic, we could get all the features that we feel are missing."
"The pricing is okay comparatively their competitors. The only concern was whether it should be purchased on demand or bring your own license, and which way passes some savings onto the end customers."
