Proactive monitoring has improved availability and capacity reporting for my infrastructure
The current features including availability, performance, and capacity are good enough, and I think more of better alerting along with improved thresholds of alerts should be implemented. It is helpful, but it should also include the capability to detect zero-day attacks if there are any. I think the remediation could have been better. For example, if I am upgrading my firmware or BIOS or firmware of the infrastructure, it should give me exact CVSS scores and remediation data provided against the CVSS scores. I think the Dell CloudIQ app could be more interactive. If there is a possibility that I can open tickets or SRs via the Dell CloudIQ app, that would be a good feature.

Better support and more accessible resources are crucial. Customers have expressed that support is not as flexible, and it is difficult to obtain necessary information quickly. Customers would benefit from improved training material for integration with other products. The solution's pricing is high and needs to be reconsidered, and the technical support should improve to provide more accessible and open information.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The best thing about this solution is that you can check for the infrastructure and system updates that you might need to be compliant with the Cloud."
"We chose this solution because it is a free product offered from Dell which you can use to monitor, manage and optimize cybersecurity."
"It's convenient because you can access it from a mobile device without needing a laptop."
"Our company uses the solution for forecasting capacity and performance via cloud visualization that is maintained by Dell."
"CloudIQ allows us to monitor our servers centrally, and we can receive notifications in case of issues, like a potential hard drive failure."
"The dashboard is clear and user-friendly."
"This solution would be very helpful for anybody that is solely using Dell equipment."
"The mobile application is the most valuable feature for us; we can monitor all the storages on our phones, and it's really good."
"We managed to convince our client to use CA UIM as it individually ensures monitoring of all the aspects of an application, be it processes, event logs, URLs, ping availability, server response time, log monitoring, database monitoring, clusters, and what not."
"The most valuable features of UIM are that it's scalable and it's relatively easy to set up monitoring on the servers."
"The product is worth every bit of its cost."
"Again, I can not say enough the cohesiveness of the product; it's not multiple different piecemeal products that have to be configured to work together, it's all one product under the hood, and it does what it says it does."
"The product has a lot of flexibility in how we can report data, collect it, report it, and query it."
"I enjoy the product; it has done everything that we expected it to do."
"CA UIM Solution is very easy and fast to use, it offers both agent-base and agent less monitoring options."
"DX UIM is scalable."

Cons

"The process of upgrading could be streamlined."
"It can improve the reporting facility to create custom reports or dashboards."
"PowerScale is the only file system offered and that is limiting."
"The reporting capabilities of this solution could be improved."
"Doesn't do well in terms of integrating with technologies other than Dell."
"It can improve the reporting facility to create custom reports or dashboards."
"The main limitation of CloudIQ is that it is intended to be used exclusively with Dell hardware."
"In terms of improvement, they should enhance the product range."
"There is also room for improvement in the reporting. It is not really good enough, according to our customers."
"Another room for improvement in DX Unified Infrastructure Management is its technical support because it's sometimes not as knowledgeable or responsive."
"Open source and acquired components are often bolted on and integrated poorly."
"Making a GUI with criteria such as selection by robot/hub/probe etc."
"Administration interface, in particular the infrastructure manager. The event console could also use a make-over."
"UIM supports AS400, but it is somewhat limited."
"We have products that we’re moving away from that have a better GUI and they’re 15 years old."
"The UI seems sluggish at times. When you go to maneuver or browse through, it takes a while to update."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I believe it is a free product because we don't pay for it."
"The solution is more expensive than NetApp which offers file systems in various price ranges."
"The product-price ratio is better than other brands such as Fortinet or SonicWall."
"The license cost depends on the number of probes and robots."
"Pricing for DX Unified Infrastructure Management isn't cheap at all. It's a complex tool, so you have to pay more. No one is happy with a large bill to pay, but if it's a complex product and you designed a complex solution to be monitored, it'll be your fault that you need to buy an expensive product, and that would be implicit in the design of DX Unified Infrastructure Management. Monitoring is just a small part of it. Sometimes you have to pay a significant amount of money for a complex yet very good solution."
"Reasonable setup cost and licensing prices."
"This product is expensive compared to other vendors (SolarWinds, ManageEngine)."
"CAD $400,000 annually."
