Has improved threat visibility and centralized management but needs wider feature support
We have not worked much with granular control over web usage policies, so I cannot provide detailed feedback. We have not worked with the effectiveness of the multi-layered defense approach in threat prevention. Their product coverage is not as extensive as some competitors. They have fewer products and features compared to competitors. Support for operational technology (OT) is not as comprehensive in Check Point Web Gateway as it is in competing products.

Monitors traffic effectively but struggles with integration challenges
I find that the technical support is mediocre, at least for the Middle East. I frequently face challenges when contacting OpenStack through the distribution channel. It should be more straightforward. I notice that customers work with partners, not directly with Symantec, relying on local company integrators for support. Symantec becomes the level two or level three support, which requires navigating through a supply chain that is quite extensive.

Quotes from Members

"The Check Point Web Gateway is a great security asset, providing the website and application control our organization needs."
"Check Point Web Gateway is a reliable and stable solution."
"We have required technical support quite a few times, and it has been very forthcoming from Check Point."
"We are satisfied with the effectiveness of the multi-layered defense approach in Check Point Web Gateway."
"The product covers all the security needs of roaming users."
"One of its rather outstanding capabilities is its ability to add an extra layer of protection to our company's internal network."
"I think this solution is very helpful to our customers because its cloud-based security can be deployed quickly and maintained easily."
"We've tried other endpoint security solutions but this tool seems to be the best when specifically comparing the endpoint security features."
"In terms of most valuable features, I like the ICAP capability and URL filtering the most."
"It's nice to have it in the cloud where we can pull the reporting together for it so we can see what's happening in machines at different locations."
"It is easy to manage. The graphical user interface is quite easy to navigate, and we don't have any difficulty in using it. It is a good solution."
"Overall, this product is okay and it does the job that it is supposed to do."
"It has a faster implementation process compared to other products."
"The most valuable features are the website blocking capability and SSL interception."
"It offers an easy initial setup."

Cons

"It is not user-friendly."
"The solution should improve integration."
"Their product coverage is not as extensive as some competitors. They have fewer products and features compared to competitors."
"The tool's response time can be improved since sometimes it lags, but not always...The tool's UI should be made more dynamic."
"The support team’s response is not fast."
"I would like to see improvement in the tool's availability."
"I would like to be able to see an integration with centralized management services."
"We would really benefit from some more visual features that can help view the impact of the security gateway in the organization."
"The problem with Complete Website Security is with the dot com transition and dealing with Symantec is becoming a problem right now."
"One of the problems with using Symantec is that it's widely known and the people who are making malware have designed to circumvent it."
"The Credential ID part where you need to register it: Sometimes, it does not register a device, for some reason."
"There's a need for increased firewall functionality and capabilities. I'm not seeing a competitive Symantec cloud product. Specifically, functionalities with security as filtering from the cloud. I am aware that there is a product, a proxy in the cloud but I have compared it with other vendors and I don't find it that powerful. I think the worst thing that we're experiencing is very poor and inadequate technical support. It seems to me that tech support engineers aren't qualified to fulfill their job duties."
"Depending on the severity of the issue, I think they can be a bit slow - a few days for the low severity cases, but for the severe cases normally they contact you back in a couple of hours."
"Difficult and time-consuming to deploy and update."
"The interface could be made more user-friendly."
"I find that the technical support is mediocre, at least for the Middle East. I frequently face challenges when contacting OpenStack through the distribution channel."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"If one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the tool's price as a seven out of ten."
"Our customers pay a licensing fee annually or once in three or five years, per their requirements."
"The price is on the higher side, even when compared to Azure Firewall Premium."
"The price is very high."
"It is expensive. Licensing is on a yearly basis. You need to do the support subscription."
"The product is not cheap. It is expensive."
"There is a need to make yearly payments towards the licensing charges attached to the product. The product is neither too expensive nor too cheap, so it comes at a good price point for my company."
"This program is very, very expensive."
"Pricing and licensing is stunted and licensing is expensive. We have many customers who are now thinking about other solutions due to the cost."
"There is an additional charge for advanced security features."
"Symantec Secure Web Gateway is less expensive than one of its competitors."
