Can be used for the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party terminal insurance
We use it for the virtualization of third-party APIs for performance testing. Our second use case is related to the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party terminal insurance, which is used for insurance clients In the case of the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party…

End-to-end regression automation has accelerated delivery and now secures complex test data
I think Tosca can be improved, particularly in AI capabilities because right now Tosca does not have any strong API capabilities. It has some AI features in the newer version, but many organizations have not adopted these due to version-specific problems, as some are still using older versions. From an AI point of view, they can enhance reliability since the world is moving towards AI, and every tool must be integrated. While Tosca has made attempts, I have not used them and they are not widely adopted, so they are stuck in the testing phase in my organization. I would also mention that while I am currently using Tosca Mobile, the loading part and connectivity issues need improvement. They should better integrate AI features that are already present but not widely used across many organizations. Reliability on the AI aspect needs enhancement for practical application. From the perspective of governance and security, I believe Tosca can develop its own LLM or leverage third-party LLMs while maintaining security and risk management regarding client data. Many companies prefer using Tosca due to data security, which is crucial. An in-house LLM could significantly enhance its debugging power and provide helpful solutions upon test case failure.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I use VSI, VSM, and SOA testing."
"DevTest supports multiple testing environments so you can configure it to use one testing environment or 20, and you can change it for use in any other environments with the flick of a button."
"CA Service Virtualization has helped us advance the development cycle when third-party interfaces are not available to us."
"In the case of the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party terminal insurance, there was a device terminal, which was interacting with the application via the TCP/IP protocol. Most of the tools don't support that, but we were able to achieve it using Broadcom Service Virtualization."
"We have been able to enact a shift left in our testing, and thanks to CA Service Virtualization we now have the ability to stub services we rely on and can test our own APIs in an efficient manner."
"Easy to understand ways of creating stubs."
"The features are really good in the middleware testing world; it supports lots of technologies and I would strongly recommend this tool for automation and virtualization."
"Over about a year, we have saved over half a million for our customer."
"It can provide all levels of testing from design to execution to reporting."
"We've found TBox to be valuable for scanning applications and automating test cases."
"We are satisfied with the support of Tricentis."
"From our clients perspective (e.g. large banks, government organisations etc.), it has allowed them to decrease their total execution effort, improve their time to market, and increase their total risk coverage."
"Risk-based testing, test optimization, and support for over one hundred technologies are some of the most important capabilities of the platform."
"The solution can be deployed in DevOps and ERP environments like Oracle Fusion. It accelerates testing with the libraries. The product incorporates libraries and is more sensitive to the scans."
"We can also create customized functions. For example, if something isn't supported in Tricentis Tosca Commander, we can create our own function to integrate it with Tosca Commander, so we can utilize it and integrate with the macros."
"This tool is very easy to use and I think that anyone can come in, having no experience with it, and within four to six months be comfortable with it."

Cons

"The REST test step could include other methods."
"I would really like more relevant online documentation."
"I would like to have more flexibility towards the mainframe virtualization and also in JDBC virtualization."
"The stability is so poor that this is what is required."
"Their knowledge management system is not up to the mark. The search functionality really needs to be improved."
"The GUI can be hard to navigate."
"Right now, we can do service virtualization but there is no mainframe testing feature in this tool such as batch processing; it is the feature that I need."
"The one main thing we want to see is more on the reporting side."
"Dashboard for results still need to be improve in Tosca Test Suite"
"In Tricentis Tosca, we need to capture the element each time. If they could implement an auto-heal feature, it would capture automatically by detecting it from the page."
"Getting support from their support team is very difficult; the overall competence of the support has declined, and it's taking a lot of time to get solutions."
"With regard to areas of improvement, report customization should be easier. It would be good if Tosca could provide standard reports for at least 20 variants. At present, there are only three to four variants. The mobile engine needs to be faster and easier to use; it is a bit cumbersome. Also, the object identification in the mobile engine needs improvement. I would like to see easy-to-use customizations for reports in the next release."
"The solution is expensive."
"There have been some setbacks because of upgrades."
"Exploratory testing engine needs improved element recognition (at lease in JAVA Swing)"
"With the license stability, we have had a lot of issues. There were many interruptions to the connection and it took two-three weeks and we installed the license ourselves."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is a yearly licensing cost, and I would give it a four out of five."
"I think the pricing is quite fair because this solution provides a lot of functionalities, and is quite stable."
"I don't have the exact dollar amount, but we have spent close to $1,000,000 for a three-year agreement, for an enterprise level."
"There are additional fees for advanced-level technical support."
"It is expensive. There is also the training cost, but it does speed up the process. So, you get a return on investment."
"I'm not sure if I'm at liberty to talk about the pricing, but it has some significant costs. For example, you have to pay a license and maintenance fee. Then the rest of the terms are negotiable. We have to consider what we need and what benefit we get from it."
"I would rate the pricing a seven out of ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive. It is on the higher side."
"The price of the tool is a problem for a lot of Brazilian clients or Latino clients, as it is expensive. Where I work, if one is low price and ten is high price, I rate the tool's price as a ten out of ten."
"There are two licenses: single user and multiple user. A multiple-user license means that several people can work together on one project and collaborate on code stored in a central location. A single-user license is for people working alone on a one particular application. It's much cheaper than a multi-user workspace. If you are getting a large volume of licenses for an enterprise, you can probably negotiate a discount, but I'm not sure about that."
"It is an expensive tool compared to other test automation tools. It has a lot of advantages over other tools."
"I would like to see better costing packs. There are several features but USD $11,000 for one license is expensive."
"The price of Tricentis Tosca is approximately Є10,000 for one license. However, it used to be much cheaper, but they changed their license structure. It used to be a structure where if you bought a license you would receive one year of free support and maintenance. Now they only have a yearly license, and that is expensive."
