Can be used for the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party terminal insurance
We use it for the virtualization of third-party APIs for performance testing. Our second use case is related to the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party terminal insurance, which is used for insurance clients In the case of the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party…

End-to-end regression automation has accelerated delivery and now secures complex test data
I think Tosca can be improved, particularly in AI capabilities because right now Tosca does not have any strong API capabilities. It has some AI features in the newer version, but many organizations have not adopted these due to version-specific problems, as some are still using older versions. From an AI point of view, they can enhance reliability since the world is moving towards AI, and every tool must be integrated. While Tosca has made attempts, I have not used them and they are not widely adopted, so they are stuck in the testing phase in my organization. I would also mention that while I am currently using Tosca Mobile, the loading part and connectivity issues need improvement. They should better integrate AI features that are already present but not widely used across many organizations. Reliability on the AI aspect needs enhancement for practical application. From the perspective of governance and security, I believe Tosca can develop its own LLM or leverage third-party LLMs while maintaining security and risk management regarding client data. Many companies prefer using Tosca due to data security, which is crucial. An in-house LLM could significantly enhance its debugging power and provide helpful solutions upon test case failure.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"If we didn't have that CA Service Virtualization, we would have to run our performance tests during the night, because that's when the mainframe is least used."
"It is a very good tool with support for a variety of protocols and has a user-friendly UI and other scripting features as well."
"The CAI aka Pathfinder is a great capability and will help the organization to achieve SV goals and expand the SV to different systems without many firewall changes or changes in the existing environment setup."
"Applying automation using the DevTest Workstation for automation of middleware validation, has decreased manual effort by 40%."
"It provides us a high level of integration with all of our solutions, to the extent that we can set up modules with Service Virtualization functionality at the same time."
"This product helps us to simulate broken or nonexistent systems, avoid latency between projects, and perform load-bearing testing on unavailable external systems."
"My rating reflects the flexibility that it gives, the easy deployment and the easy maintenance of it."
"The product made a huge impact in the market which includes many solutions which offer virtualization, performance testing, pathfinder, and functional testing, and development and testing became faster, improving CSR and ROI's for our customers."
"It's a simple tool, particularly in terms of system testing. You can also convert and automate using Tricentis Tosca with ease."
"From our clients perspective (e.g. large banks, government organisations etc.), it has allowed them to decrease their total execution effort, improve their time to market, and increase their total risk coverage."
"It is easy to maintain and easy to automate, no coding skills are required to automate, and it is also easy in terms of transferring knowledge and skills."
"I am very happy using the product and also whenever I have asked for remote sessions, the agents always agreed."
"I would recommend this solution to others."
"The advantage of using Tricentis Tosca is that we can get started with automation without much investment on solution development, with it following a keyword-driven approach."
"The XScan was great because it was a handy way to automate on a surface which made it very easy and simple."
"The most valuable aspect of the solution is the extremely fast setup, as you can really get up and running within a very small window of time, and we like the fact that it works across mobile, desktop, web, and APIs, giving the solution a broad range of applications."

Cons

"We had issues in the support for virtualization of JDBC connectivity."
"Further integration into non-CA test suites will be beneficial."
"We have had issues when they moved it to a newer platform of a base platform a couple of releases back."
"We need to get more and more types of services because this is a multidisciplinary platform."
"It was purchased from another larger corporate project and just kind of sat there, paid for but on the shelf."
"I have noticed performance issues such as the virtual server requires a restart after using it for a certain amount of time, to make sure it responds better."
"Stability is getting better. When we first started with it, there were some bugs."
"It’s a good product, but comes with a hefty cost. If there is a better licensing/cost negotiation, then it can work, otherwise it’s not a viable solution."
"It requires some coding customization that requires expertise, so having free services along with the licenses would be good."
"Very difficult to get information about licensing costs."
"In terms of areas for improvement, Tricentis has a variety of tools, even its test management tool called qTest. Tricentis Tosca does have integration with different Tricentis tools, but the integration is geared towards a larger organization perspective. For very small organizations that have minimal licenses, the integration needs to be improvised. For example, I belong to a smaller organization that has only one license, so the capability that the tool provides for integration isn't sufficient because my company needs to have separate workspaces. When Tricentis Tosca is going to be running, it is going to use that license, but my company wants another separate workspace to record, relay, and test. This is what my team has been struggling with, and the mechanism is probably there, but that needs more time and investigation, so I can't say that I'm one hundred percent certain that Tricentis Tosca, in terms of integration for a smaller organization is insufficient. Another area for improvement is that Tricentis Tosca is currently just a Windows-based tool which affects the market because nowadays, Windows isn't the only operating system, for example, there's also Apple or IOS that's moving much faster than Windows."
"The record and play is still a new feature and while SAP has been added to the latest version, it is still lacking usefulness for common repository setups."
"We faced some hardships in implementing the solution because of integration."
"The solution is expensive."
"While the initial setup was straightforward, we required assistance with the configuration to ensure that everything was done correctly."
"So far, all our issues have had to do with our unfamiliarity with the product."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I don't have the exact dollar amount, but we have spent close to $1,000,000 for a three-year agreement, for an enterprise level."
"There are additional fees for advanced-level technical support."
"There is a yearly licensing cost, and I would give it a four out of five."
"I think the pricing is quite fair because this solution provides a lot of functionalities, and is quite stable."
"I rate the price of Tricentis Tosca a two out of five."
"Tricentis Tosca is an expensive tool and the licensing is not simple."
"It is expensive."
"I would like to see better costing packs. There are several features but USD $11,000 for one license is expensive."
"Tricentis Tosca is an expensive solution and there is an annual license required. The whole licensing process is confusing and it could be made easier."
"Licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis."
"I give the cost of Tricentis Tosca a six out of seven."
"I'm not sure if I'm at liberty to talk about the pricing, but it has some significant costs. For example, you have to pay a license and maintenance fee. Then the rest of the terms are negotiable. We have to consider what we need and what benefit we get from it."
