Can be used for the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party terminal insurance
We use it for the virtualization of third-party APIs for performance testing. Our second use case is related to the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party terminal insurance, which is used for insurance clients In the case of the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party…

Is scalable and easy to use, but the monitoring feature needs improvement
The support for Micro Focus Service Virtualization is better than that for other products. The technical support staff are highly skilled. Sometimes, we don't have to open a ticket. We can just go into the community and then talk to them directly. I would rate technical support at seven out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We have saved a lot of money and testing time by using CA SV."
"We have been able to enact a shift left in our testing, and thanks to CA Service Virtualization we now have the ability to stub services we rely on and can test our own APIs in an efficient manner."
"Service Virtualization provides a different world of opportunities in SOA testing, which helps us to provide a better SOA solution to clients."
"There are several areas that are easily configurable."
"In terms of improving the way the organization functions, it gives us lot of visibility into what features are getting released when."
"The tool always had some additional features included in each of its releases and it fixed the bugs of the previous release."
"I like the fact that it allows us to focus on just the system under test."
"We needed one tool to do it all, and this fit the bill."
"The most valuable feature is that it reduces the dependency so that the down time of the environment is not a major cost. That cost can be used for something else like the cloud."
"Teams have reduced the amount of delayed development effort it takes to roll out a new product by leveraging a virtual service for development and then meeting up for a final integration test when it is complete."
"HPE SV helped me and my ALM team minimize workforce, reduce costs, and transition from hardware to virtualization; my software is more secure preproduction."
"The purpose for this tool is very obvious and Micro Focus covers it very well."
"We choose HPE servers because they're rock solid."
"It's a much more cost efficient approach to server deployment."
"Service Virtualization plays a major role in transforming your development, testing, and operating engineer into a business engineer."
"This product has provided us the capability to virtualize dependent systems, which has resulted in the following improvements to our organization: More productivity No dependency on third-party systems Faster test execution cycles."

Cons

"We have had issues when they moved it to a newer platform of a base platform a couple of releases back."
"From a reporting perspective I think we would like to have a more user-friendly approach."
"It is difficult and requires a lot of manual effort to debug/troubleshoot any virtual service."
"As far as the next version of it is concerned, probably some additional lightweight, portable elements."
"I would rate the tech support a nine out of ten. They need more knowledge about the connectivity to DevOps orchestration."
"The initial installation and coming in and bringing it into your organization, it can be a little disruptive, but once you create some real strategies around how to deploy the solution in your platform, the gains far out weight what the delays would have been or the challenges would have been in getting it up and going."
"The solution required a lot of CPU memory, but using enough PC OZU fixed the problems."
"Parsers, look and feel need improvement."
"A lot of technology, a lot of Microsoft services, a lot of support to the functionality aspect of it - they need to mature a lot."
"I think the biggest issues that I've seen, and this is a personal view of mine, is that most of the HPE products have a common look and feel to them."
"The stability of the product, it’s still a work in progress."
"HP should work on providing better scripting support and include more communication and transport protocols."
"The monitoring feature is not impressive because they use Windows for so much monitoring."
"Sometimes it stops working after switching remote and local servers."
"As it stands now, the debugging capacity within the tool is fairly limited."
"The developers area Performance testers"

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is a yearly licensing cost, and I would give it a four out of five."
"There are additional fees for advanced-level technical support."
"I don't have the exact dollar amount, but we have spent close to $1,000,000 for a three-year agreement, for an enterprise level."
"I think the pricing is quite fair because this solution provides a lot of functionalities, and is quite stable."
"Micro Service Virtualization is very expensive. The pricing of this product is in line with all of the other big name-brand products."
"It's an expensive solution, but you can get discounts. You have to buy one server and one designer together, for example, and it may cost 15 million Thai Baht."

Hello, Unfortunately, I don’t have experience in CA Lisa SV. However, I have evaluated HP SV and have an opinion about it – I can share my thoughts if you need, but I don’t think that it will help you to answer the question. “What needs to be considered when comparing them?” Of course a lot is depends on your necessities, but for the most of cases it doesn’t matter what tools you are going to compare – I believe that all the needs are the same because of the domain area (SV in this case). - Number of Protocols supported - Record and Reproduce possibility - Create virtual services from scratch - Easiness of installing, configuring and using - Extended possibilities for creation more complex virtual endpoints (db support, data stores, team using, etc.) - Other deeper criteria Thank you. HP Service Test and CA Lisa are not comparable products. HP Service Test is comparable to Soap UI- create scripts/tests that drive data to a web service. HP Service Test is one of three products in the HP Unified Functional Testing Suite: what used to be Quick Test Professional, Service Test and Service Test Manager.
