Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Automation has streamlined client data extraction and has improved reporting for business decisions
I work as a developer, and my manager is responsible for the research and analytics for the project with the client and business users. I am satisfied with BotFarm. I would rate my experience with BotFarm an eight out of ten. I do not see any room for improvement for BotFarm. I am using AI tools such as Amazon, Microsoft Azure, and ChatGPT. I am not using AI-powered bots in BotFarm. I am a partner with Automation Anywhere.

Automates browsing tasks without needing a server connection
I have worked with Microsoft Power Platform and UiPath. Kofax RPA offers a comprehensive solution with built-in capabilities for executing tasks like running Excel files and web automation without additional servers. They provide their browsers and extensions. For functions such as OCR, image processing, and data extraction, Kofax has built-in features powered by their engine, eliminating the need for subscriptions to external technologies like Microsoft Cognitive Services or Google Search. One of Kofax RPA's strongest features is its on-premise solution, which is particularly beneficial for organizations operating in regions with data regulations, such as the UAE.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We have hundreds of cases a day. There were around two to three employees who were just moving a case from one state to another. This was a repetitive, tedious job, which was frustrating for the employees. It helps to have the bot doing this work now. We have immediately seen effects, so this is a good use for it."
"The overall developer client has an easy-to-use UI."
"The ability to find objects easily through the 'Capture' option saves your time most significantly."
"The Automation Anywhere software has improved our organization by moving us into the RPA climate and allowing us to save on our overhead."
"The most valuable features of this solution are its scalability, security using the credential vault, and ease of use for business."
"A project that we automated: A person used to spend about eight to twelve hours every week to finish the process. The bot finishes it in half an hour. Now, the person just reviews it, then passes along the information. This has helped our organization because originally EMEA and APAC would not receive the files the same day that they were processed. But because the bot only takes a half an hour, everyone can now receive the files on the same day."
"The features of Automation Anywhere are quite impressive; one aspect I particularly appreciate is the integration of AI, which has reached a mature level in its capability for agentic processes, greatly enhancing product usability and enabling adaptation to complex use cases."
"Even a non-IT or business user can just look at the bot language and understand what the bot is doing, and that's the easy part."
"The record option and the OCR technology have been great."
"The most valuable feature of BotFarm is the fact that we can use escalations when we need more computer power to fulfill all embargo that we receive in one day."
"Automation Anywhere provides and facilitates cloud service, which means you can access your license from anywhere, easily executing and developing your bots from anywhere in the world."
"There are not many challenges when setting up this solution, and there is a good amount of documentation to go with it."
"There is at least a five or ten times reduction in the amount of time, and more people are free to do something else."
"One of the most valuable features is the solution's simple automation regarding object cloning and strings variables."
"The main features of the solution are the IQ Bot and web-based automation."
"The best aspect is the UI, as it is very user-friendly."
"It is very simple and easy to learn compared to any other RPA tools such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere and Blue Prism."
"The OCR was quite stable and flexible."
"The ability to script information from websites is most valuable. It also seems to be fairly robust and reasonably easy to manage on a server-based deployment. We have a number of robots operating on the central server."
"The most valuable feature of Kofax RPA is the simplicity of automating tasks."
"You can automate browsing tasks without needing a server connection. The platform provides its browser, allowing you to run anything inside it."
"The pricing of the solution is quite good."
"It is stable and scalable."
"The best part of Kofax is that they have a whole concept; it's one product, but also has extra elements that can be integrated, and if you take the whole package with the extra products you can digitize it using RPA and also by using the other products they provide."

Cons

"We face issues with Excel file creation. I’m trying to create a file in Excel .xls, it is getting corrupted."
"Automation Anywhere should have more Excel-related functionality."
"One area requiring improvement is the debugging process. When I use a multi-structure with conditions to switch from one bot to another, successful debugging of the entire process is not feasible. Each bot has to be debugged individually."
"If it had the ability to make decisions in complex situations, the bot would perform more smoothly. More advanced decision-making skills are needed for improvement."
"We have a few issues which have persisted. These end up restarting the machine. We are hoping in version 11.3 of Automation Anywhere, our compatibility and infrastructure issues will be resolved."
"It is a bit wonky with HTML when I'm working with it. There are times when it's not able to detect the technology that we are using. I don't know whether it's an Automation Anywhere issue or an internal issue. I want it to work smoothly with more technologies."
"I would like to leverage the AI component without the requirement to know a coding language, such as Python."
"The only thing I would advocate for is making Automation Anywhere's developer environment Mac-enabled because many of our graduate students are coming out of school with Macs. Everything else in the Automation Anywhere world is built for Windows."
"The licensing schemes could be more competitive. They need to be much more flexible in their pricing."
"One aspect that can be improved is the accessibility of reusable components for developers. It relates to role-based access and accessibility."
"Its UI could be made better. It should also be more flexible."
"The OCR tool, the optical character recognition tool, could be more efficient."
"An area for improvement in BotFarm is that the communication between the Control Room and the Bot Client Missions isn't utilized well."
"It is too expensive and not worth the price."
"The only challenge that we have faced with BotFarm is that there is no continuous deployment."
"I would definitely be wanting to see OCR features for improving the solution."
"For additional features, I'd like to see a recording function and a more simple interface."
"Concatenation of error messages."
"RPA technology is constantly changing, and sometimes Kofax lags behind."
"Its documentation is not widely available on the web. When there is a problem, the channels through which I can get a solution are limited."
"Automation with the latest websites is not effective. The support of newer websites developed using new technologies would improve this solution."
"We've faced a few challenges with Tungsten RPA. One issue I recall was with sending emails that needed multiple attachments. At the time, the feature only allowed attaching one file at a time. We discussed this with Tungsten RPA, and they planned to add multi-attachment capability to their backlog. I'm not sure if it's been upgraded since then. The solution's desktop automation is tricker."
"Kofax RPA could improve web-based automation and there should be a choice of what browser we can use, such as Google Chrome, instead of an inbuilt browser from Kofax RPA. Additionally, Kofax RPA is missing an orchestrator that other solutions have, such as UiPath."
"Kofax RPA needs to improve integration with SAP and Microsoft. The professional services offered by the tool's team is below par. Its licensing needs to be more modular."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"In terms of monetary savings, we automated a bot in three days that has saved us $30,000 in costs."
"Currently, it stands as one of the more expensive RPA tools available."
"Licensing costs range from $50,000 to $200,000."
"I really enjoy the pricing options with Automation Anywhere, as they are able to flex their ability to adapt to the needs of the customer really well."
"I think the pricing is reasonable, but clients often perceive it as expensive."
"When you compare the cost of Automation Anywhere with UiPath and Blue Prism, those others are much less. Licensing-wise, UiPath wins the deal."
"The solution itself is free unless we want to add the support option but we have to pay for the bots we use."
"There is an annual license to use the solution."
"There is a license for this solution and it is on an annual basis. I am satisfied with the price."
"The product is slightly expensive"
"Automation Anywhere is more reasonable than Blue Prism and UiPath in terms of cost."
"The pricing model could be simplified."
"An unattended bot license costs around $5,000, whereas an attended bot license costs roughly $1,500."
"I am very happy with the pricing."
"The license of this solution is on an annual basis. The price is fair. However, what we did initially was a POC, but now we are looking at moving from a POC to expanding it out further. I would appreciate some kind of discount."
"The pricing is fair."
"The solution’s license is not expensive."
"There is a standard license needed to use Kofax RPA and the price is reasonable."
"Price is not a problem, because they are a competitor and we have a special rate."
"Its pricing is reasonable given the product capabilities. Kofax has a wide range of products, and it can sometimes be confusing to understand which capabilities come with which product set. One of the key facets that we've been looking into recently is cognitive document recognition that was a core pile of some of their other technologies such as Kofax transformation modules (KTM)."
"I don't have complete insight at this point in time, but I would guess that Kofax is a lot less expensive than Automation Anywhere. I would expect its license to be on a yearly basis."
"Kofax's prices are pretty reasonable."
"The normal price for an on-premises license is €50,000. That's the price for one robot license. You can have more than one robot license but only one can be run at any one time. I believe the cost of adding a second robot is around €14,000."
"The pricing model for automation solutions like Automation Anywhere, UiPath, and Microsoft Power Platform is subscription-based, where costs are calculated based on factors such as the number of hours used and the scale of automation required.......With Kofax, you purchase a license upfront, and that's all you need. You can create as many automation workflows as you require without additional costs for individual use cases."
