Unified monitoring has provided real-time visibility and simplified network troubleshooting
One area of Auvik Network Management (ANM) that could be improved is that once it discovers network devices, the naming at times is confusing. Auvik Network Management (ANM) does not always bring out the hostname and instead brings out a generic name, which I then need to change. If Auvik Network Management (ANM) could improve this aspect so that when it discovers devices, it correctly retrieves the hostname every time, it would eliminate the need to edit each hostname, especially on PCs and printers. The GUI is fine. Auvik Network Management (ANM) has a level of access control where I can manage access and control user access to Auvik Network Management (ANM) portal. The GUI is acceptable for me. Gaining instant visibility into my network health with Auvik Network Management (ANM) is easy because from the setup, it is straightforward. For instance, I manage different sites, so all I need is to install Auvik Network Management (ANM) collector on any server in the environment. Once I install the collector, I automatically start discovering devices. The beauty of Auvik Network Management (ANM) is that it separates devices into tabs for routers, switches, wireless, computers and hosts, and others. At times it might not categorize some devices properly, but I can move them to the right sub-interfaces. In terms of visibility, it is very easy and fast compared to other management solutions I have used. Most other solutions are agentless, so they do not discover much and you might need to add them manually. With Auvik Network Management (ANM), I do not need to add anything manually as it discovers and updates automatically. Using Auvik Network Management (ANM) is mostly easy. I do not have any challenges. In terms of usability, it is fine. The visibility it provides is top-notch. Deployment is also easy. The only suggestion I would make is to make some of the fonts on the images on the topology bolder. Outside that, Auvik Network Management (ANM) is fine because from Auvik Network Management (ANM) management plane, I can push configurations to my devices, do backups, and many other things. Auvik Network Management (ANM) provides a network map along with its dashboard that gives me a real-time picture of my network. I have tested the intelligence myself by adding a new device on the network and after some minutes, seeing Auvik Network Management (ANM) update its topology. Even down to VPN and SSL site-to-site VPN access to other branches, Auvik Network Management (ANM) pulls out all these connections. When I have a new engineer on my team, I tell them to look at the topology, which is the network topology there. There is no need to draw with draw.io or Visio. It is Auvik Network Management (ANM). Using the network map and dashboard in Auvik Network Management (ANM) to gain real-time visibility into my network is somewhat easy. If Auvik Network Management (ANM) could work on making the pictures bolder, it would help considerably. Sometimes I need to open the topology in another tab and put it on another screen to make it bolder. If Auvik Network Management (ANM) could enhance the pictures to make them more bold, it would go a long way.

A solution with a great monitoring system and ability to control access remotely
The initial setup was straightforward. Deployment depends on the size of a customer. We make the customer in the enterprise server, and there is a download per customer for the installation package. We can also roll it out very easily, and when we install it on one or two systems, it explores the network for more systems. We can then fire a deployment package on the other systems. So in one hour, we can do a lot. Most of the time, 90% of the work is very easy, and the last 10% are the business-critical systems from a customer. Also, we manually install important customer systems, like special applications where we like to monitor specific services in the server itself.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"I like Auvik's mapping. Your home dashboard has a map view where you can see potential issues on the endpoints. If an AP or switch has a problem, you can drill down into those to see how it's affecting the endpoints."
"The most valuable feature of Auvik is the comprehensive network management it provides."
"The extensive personalization and customization options are great because it lets me do a lot. I can set up different permission structures, assign various staff members read-only access and others full access, and customize my notifications."
"I'm one of the biggest Auvik fans out there."
"Auvik's reliability is impressive."
"Ease of use is awesome."
"Auvik Network Management (ANM) has reduced my meantime to resolution by 80%, because while 20% is my hard work, Auvik helps me with the remaining 80%."
"A task that previously took 40-45 minutes can be completed in less than five minutes with Auvik."
"It has been very helpful to get notifications about various issues with my servers and network to help me take action to resolve problems before they become major issues."
"We like the patching of the window updates in the client's systems. You can automatically do updates with a single click."
"So this solution allows for 24/7 support and is very handy."
"The setup is simple."
"The solution has great workflow and server modules."
"They provide a lot of features; it's good and easy software."
"One of the applications I have used the most was to troubleshoot users and I've never faced difficulties or issues with the application itself."
"It gives you remote control and has a mobile app."

Cons

"Customer support could be better, as I mentioned earlier. I haven't had to reach out for a while, but when I have, it took a minute to get to someone who could help or who knew what I was talking about."
"I would like Auvik to offer an alternative method for backing up devices that don't support or have SNMP disabled, since currently, SNMP seems to be a prerequisite for any functionality in Auvik."
"The use of a mobile app would be very beneficial because sometimes I cannot access a computer."
"Auvik could have better compatibility with more devices."
"However, when we have a lot of equipment on-site, the map is very big, and the results show at the bottom, requiring us to scroll down and compare results, which is a problem depending on the screen size; I sometimes need to crop the map or results."
"If they could expand the products they support, that would be ideal."
"I would like a Power BI-style dashboard that you could show to a non-technical person with metrics like the number of devices accessing wireless, the amount of internet, total issues resolved each month, etc."
"I would like to see more extensive syslog capabilities. It can ingest syslogs and I think it can alert based on quantities of messages. You can also look back at some of the messages, but it's not a forensics level syslog."
"However, the solution does not allow you to make a script for just one customer, so it would be great if that is improved."
"There are some bugs or glitches."
"It would be nice if it also had a desktop application, similar to the phone app, which would allow me to monitor and control computers from my desktop."
"GUI needs to be improved and the solution lacks a process for monitoring VOIP calls."
"They have good technical support but it's not excellent."
"Support needs to be improved because we've sometimes had to wait 24 hours to get a response."
"Remote Desktop Assistance for Mac endpoints - not having this functionality is a major inconvenience in having to have two systems for clients using this platform."
"Sometimes the speed is a problem. When I've been remote controlling people, from time to time, there were some issues with people in Hong Kong."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Auvik isn't cheap. There are two tiers: Essentials and Performance. We're still on the Essentials plan, but we may upgrade to Performance, which is double the price."
"Auvik is affordable. The license was under $4,000 annually for our setup. That covers a lot of switches, firewalls, and integration. It was well worth the price. I think it's around $20 per device per quarter."
"It's always been very affordable."
"The pricing is fair; it's just the right price for what the solution provides."
"We have a lot of problems with licensing in many other solutions, but I've never run into a problem with Auvik licensing. That's a pretty good vote of confidence."
"The pricing is fair for the value and time saved that you get out of it. The larger you go, the more sense it makes per device, because as you hit different pricing tiers, it becomes much more affordable per device."
"The pricing is good, but I haven't looked at the pricing in a while. So, I don't know if it has changed or not. As far as I know, the pricing is still where it should be. I have no issues with it."
"I do not have a whole lot of information on the pricing, but our pricing seems to be okay. Internally, we have not had any issues with it, so we have not had the need to discuss pricing."
