Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Helps to move away from manual tasks and offers wide platform support and web-based interface
Customers want to move away from manual monitoring and checking processes. Automating these processes helps in time-saving and reduces human error. When you automate business processes, it reduces mistakes. It eliminates the risk of manual errors such as typos. There is a 20% to 30% reduction in human error. It fulfills all the needs when it comes to visibility and control across various operating platforms. It is the perfect product for managing processes that span multiple operating platforms. Automic Automation has the widest platform support compared to other products, such as Control-M, Tivoli from IBM, or Stonebranch. It definitely helps with compliance processes. We have had a lot of customers for two years with a focus on compliance, and it works. They were successful. Due to the fact that our customers can automate a lot of things, it reduces operating costs. It is hard to give a number because the savings are different for each customer. If a customer never had any automation, there could be about 80% savings after implementing Automic Automation, whereas for a customer who already has automated tasks, the difference will be less by adding Automic Automation. They might see 5% to 10% more savings. Automic Automation helps improve our ability to meet SLAs. In the recent versions, SLA management has been integrated, which previously was an external component. Because a lot of customers used it and asked Broadcom to implement SLA management into the workload engine, Broadcom included it. We see more and more customers running their SLA management via the Automic Automation product.

Has faced challenges adapting to evolving capture methods and competitive integrations
It's difficult to say what I'd improve in Tungsten TotalAgility because we haven't been actively marketing that particular product in the last probably six to nine months. The speed of product development means that my experience with it is likely out of date in terms of the product suite capabilities. The difficulty with customers nowadays is that they are subject to the winds of change in terms of the adoption of cloud technologies and the offerings those cloud technologies bring. Microsoft, for instance, is rapidly filling in the spaces between various product areas that other vendors typically owned. That makes it difficult for customers to settle on their functional requirements because the offers are competing in the same space. I look for more integration with mainstream subscription based platforms, more security integration, and possibly some more lifecycle management features. However, the difficulty with that is the competition with existing options that people have in their subscription library.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"My experience with Automation Anywhere over three years has shown tremendous growth in operational efficiency and business processes, as it helps to automate repetitive and rule-based tasks such as report generation and data entry quite faster and efficiently, reducing errors by about thirty to forty percent from what I observed a few years back and improving SLA-related compliance."
"The solution has removed humans making errors while increasing our time savings, and we now have a lot more efficiencies in our process."
"This is a solution that I recommend."
"The IQ Bot is the most valuable feature and a significant market differentiator."
"Adding Automation Anywhere is a tremendous value-add in the long-term."
"This product makes my life easier."
"The setup is straightforward. Automation Anywhere provides customer success managers to help with the setup."
"Automation Anywhere has made it very easy for you to install, they've got the tools to make it very simple for you to create a quick, small application and to get out there."
"We have a tool that secures and controls State assets."
"The ability the system has to dynamically create groups, schedules, and workflows is crucial to us. In a fast-paced, agile environment, our teams are very lean. Monitoring and maintaining of all the approximately 2,000,000 executions of Automic jobs are managed by only three employees. The system has been designed to be as dynamic and versatile as the business processes and teams that own them."
"The product has benefited our organization. It saves time and manpower."
"The solution is usually pretty easy for non-technical people to pick it up as long as they have basic experience with scripting."
"If you would have to start all your jobs manually, it would cost you a lot of time and money."
"The solution helped us fix issues and optimize them. We now run with zero errors."
"The reason we went with Automic is very simple; we were using ESP, which was a Broadcom product, so Automic happened to be a natural fit and it was a much easier transition from ESP to Automic because we had familiarity with the vendor and the product."
"Our customers' environments are not manageable without Automic."
"Essentially, Kofax TotalAgility as a whole is quite nice. As of now, we've only been able to use and explore its document classification and extraction capabilities. We haven't explored and used the case management capability yet, but the scan and capture capabilities we've been using heavily and those are quite good. Our solutions are mainly around those areas of Kofax TotalAgility. We haven't explored the product a lot, but the capabilities we've explored are good."
"What I find most valuable in Kofax TotalAgility is its OCR feature. I also find its workflow and business process management capabilities valuable. Kofax TotalAgility also has good integration with other solutions and has an API call feature."
"We have seen a significant cost reduction by passing many manual interventions that were required to identify and extract data from different tax forms, and we have also increased our throughput and accuracy."
"Since it provides both Capture and BPM on a single platform, it stands on its own in the business process improvement space."
"Kofax TotalAgility is a great design tool for reading handwritten invoices."
"One feature I like is that it makes the matrix easy for an unstructured document."
"Kofax is very easy to use, UI-friendly and allows easy data extraction."
"It is user-friendly and has good documentation."

Cons

"The product needs to catch up to the promise of known technology and apply more intelligent behaviors concerning AI or unstructured learning."
"When you are implementing it initially, it's challenging as there's a lot of change management."
"I would like to see better and more technical use cases for the AI features, showing how to build them instead of repeated general examples."
"My main issue with Automation Anywhere might be the logging of bots and getting more detailed feedback of what my bot is doing, step by step. It is hard to track fine-tuning in larger codes."
"The product is not working sometimes with the methods we prefer."
"While it is easy to develop automation, deploying and running them requires some technical knowledge."
"They can provide more features for desktop application automation. They don't have extensive capabilities for automating desktop applications."
"I would like to see a global error handler introduced, which will explicitly handle errors over the entire project."
"Our recent experience with technical support has not been good, because it took a couple of months to get feedback. Traces and reports were sent, but were not analyzed for at least two months before providing feedback, and they did not give the right traces. This took two months to find out, so that was not too good."
"I'm not sure what data they use to make time estimates. However, most of the time it is not accurate. It's either way too long or way too short."
"The one big issue that we have is around passwords and not being able to update passwords through a different tool. This is not available yet."
"There are always ways that technical support can be improved."
"We would like to have token-based authentication. Where we do not have to use a password, and can use tokens for authentication in other systems."
"The support and knowledge of incident management could be enhanced. There have been unresolved issues persisting for years, affecting customer satisfaction."
"In most of the packages available, it took time to study and gain knowledge of the features and resources due to poor documentation."
"Automic Workload Automation could improve the SaaS deployment."
"The form development could be improved."
"It would be nice if the tool has more connectors to different systems. It is an expensive solution."
"It’s not truly low code yet, as every two or three projects, you will have a situation where you have to go behind the essential things. You will definitely still need to customize."
"I'd like to have better inbuilt features so that we could see some added value."
"TotalAgility needs to improve communication with ECMs or other file storage systems because TotalAgility does not have file storage. A good improvement would be to create file storage or integrate with other file storage tools that are currently available."
"Kofax should improve its handwritten extractions."
"The Transformation Designer of KTA can be made better."
"Kofax TotalAgility is quite vast and complex as a product. We came from Kofax Capture and Kofax Transformation, then we started learning Kofax TotalAgility, so there are a lot of things that were quite straightforward in the Kofax Capture and Kofax Transformation cross-motion modules, but to do those in Kofax TotalAgility was a bit more complex or quite long-winded and could be improved. In the next release of Kofax TotalAgility, it would be good to have a straightforward low-code or no-code process because there were instances we struggled with having to put logic into a script or a .NET script, then calling that script, instead of the process being low-code, no-code."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We have seen ROI on one of the process, but not on the other processes yet."
"Automation Anywhere's price is considerably better than UiPath's."
"The cost of Automation Anywhere is high in Turkey due to the weak economy."
"In the Indian market, I feel that for mid-size companies, such as ourselves, that having multiple bots costs a lot. If Automation Anywhere wants to expand in the Indian market, they will need to look at their pricing."
"Pricing is affordable and I would recommend beginning with the Starter Package."
"Cost is the biggest area in need of improvement for Automation Anywhere. Annually it's $250,000. That's what deterred us right away."
"There may be room for the product to be more competitively priced to excel in the market."
"I've seen the price vary by whether the client is going to scale and adopt a tool."
"The pricing was client-wise, but they are changing it to execution-wise pricing. So, we are in negotiation."
"There are different licensing fees for cases where high availability is important."
"The cost of the solution depends on the number of systems that are being orchestrated."
"It costs too much. That's why we are now looking at other products."
"The cost of arrays is high. If you want to buy an array for an application, and see value from it, you need about half a million dollars. That is too expensive."
"It costs to scale. While, it is scalable, the add-ons are expensive."
"Broadcom has recently changed its licensing model. I do not deal with pricing, but from what I heard from customers is that due to the increased pricing, some of them are thinking of reducing tasks in Automic to have fewer executions. Others are thinking of replacing Automic Automation."
"Automic Automation's pricing is excellent, especially in comparison to similar solutions."
"Kofax TotalAgility is very expensive."
"The licensing cost for Kofax TotalAgility is very expensive, though I'm unable to give you the range, the sales representatives of my company say that the product is quite expensive."
"The price of this solution is less than some of the competition."
"It is slightly more expensive than other tools."
"It has a perpetual license. You pay once in a lifetime for the volume of scans you will do and the number of users you will have. You can have participants or regular users, and you can have developers and administrators. So, once you purchase it, it is for a lifetime, and then every year, you have to pay for the maintenance. There is an annual maintenance cost, which is about 18% of the licensing cost."
