Easy to use, flexible to deploy, and trains different documents easily
We resell the product. We are partners. We do not have internal uses of the product. I do not contact support. I contact a representative usually. He escalates our calls to support. I am part of the initial deployment team. The accuracy of the results produced by the solution's AI document processing is okay. It's good that it supports multi-page documents and tables. It's good that the product also has machine learning. We can enable it, and it will improve over time. Machine learning is one of the main things we use. We can train a small batch of documents from Brazil, and it can improve over time without needing to train a lot of documents. Our customers are spread out. We have tried Portuguese, Spanish, Hindi, Chinese, French, and Italian documents. We had a good experience with the languages we tried. We have used the AI extraction models mostly for invoices. The main thing is to get the process up and running quickly. On the commercial front, there are many tables. We can quickly add a document in development and build a scenario for a demo. The implementation is very quick. We have five different customers in a matter of months. Using ABBYY has helped us reduce manual data entry and free up staff for other tasks. Sometimes, the customer already has an ERP that does the extraction. We are just doing it upfront. The percentage of documents that go straight through processing has improved over time as the models get more advanced. It is the main metric we look at. ABBYY provides "straight-through" processing, in which content is automatically extracted and delivered without manual processing. The quality is good. We set the rules. If it goes through, it means that none of the rules were broken. The main problem is to get the percentage high. We apply manual reviews, too. A percentage of the requests with an error in some rules go through a manual review. We haven't had any solutions in production before. We have had backend solutions, but they were not IDP and were not comparable with ABBYY Vantage. Customers see an advantage in them. It is an extra cost. The price is justified by the ease of implementation of training different documents. If we just need one document or invoice, other products may be more cost-effective. The main thing for me is to enable the users to do the manual reviews and improve the results themselves without needing to train or do a big batch of training with the team. The sooner we can get people trained in the process, the faster we will get the results. The newer tools coming up have more natural language, AI, and large language models. ABBYY is one of the best tools I used. Overall, I rate the solution an 8 out of 10.

Has faced challenges adapting to evolving capture methods and competitive integrations
It's difficult to say what I'd improve in Tungsten TotalAgility because we haven't been actively marketing that particular product in the last probably six to nine months. The speed of product development means that my experience with it is likely out of date in terms of the product suite capabilities. The difficulty with customers nowadays is that they are subject to the winds of change in terms of the adoption of cloud technologies and the offerings those cloud technologies bring. Microsoft, for instance, is rapidly filling in the spaces between various product areas that other vendors typically owned. That makes it difficult for customers to settle on their functional requirements because the offers are competing in the same space. I look for more integration with mainstream subscription based platforms, more security integration, and possibly some more lifecycle management features. However, the difficulty with that is the competition with existing options that people have in their subscription library.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Verification Station is valuable."
"The whole idea of designing your own templates is pretty much the bread and butter of the product, but that's really the best part because you can design flexible templates."
"Its ease of use is valuable. It is easy to use and configure."
"The most valuable features have been the rate of recognition and the structured documents."
"If you are having problems with handwritten text and the recognition of data then ABBYY is the place to go."
"The advantage of this tool is that it is a proven product. A lot of other products are quite new in the market."
"FlexiCapture is a good product; it can be used for any kind of use case that requires OCR."
"I chose ABBYY because it had more solutions for intelligence automation, and it looked like I could combine it with other automation solutions."
"Kofax is very easy to use, UI-friendly and allows easy data extraction."
"Kofax TotalAgility is stable."
"The AI-powered features are incredibly important for operational efficiency; they are a game changer in terms of the accuracy of OCR and ICR."
"KTA will connect all the systems and lead the intelligent automation."
"Data extraction and auto-classification are great features."
"What I find most valuable in Kofax TotalAgility is its OCR feature. I also find its workflow and business process management capabilities valuable. Kofax TotalAgility also has good integration with other solutions and has an API call feature."
"It is user-friendly and has good documentation."
"We have seen a significant cost reduction by passing many manual interventions that were required to identify and extract data from different tax forms, and we have also increased our throughput and accuracy."

Cons

"ABBYY Vantage is mainly available on the public cloud but for clients that use a private cloud, it is complicated to set up the solution."
"The lack of patch update notifications creates a blind spot."
"I think that the tool is really complex. It works well, but in terms of rolling it out to a large audience that is not very tech savvy, this tool might be a little too much for them to handle."
"Our basic concern is that ABBYY does not allow you to use the product unless you are a trained professional."
"The system does not always train itself to recognize data properly."
"Machine learning needs to be improved."
"In IRISXtract, we can have master data, and we can set the master data. There are more options for taking any data and comparing it with master data. For a project, they have a dump from SAP for validation. This feature is there in ABBYY, but it is not extensive like IRISXtract. ABBYY is capturing the data, but there are not a lot of options to validate the captured data. It would be helpful if there are more options for validating the captured data in ABBYY FlexiCapture."
"The generic models have a lot of areas to improve. In our experience, we are not able to get good results in the generic models. From a developer's point of view, there could be more improvement if the source code is available on a broader scope"
"I'd like to have better inbuilt features so that we could see some added value."
"The form development could be improved."
"Kofax TotalAgility is quite vast and complex as a product. We came from Kofax Capture and Kofax Transformation, then we started learning Kofax TotalAgility, so there are a lot of things that were quite straightforward in the Kofax Capture and Kofax Transformation cross-motion modules, but to do those in Kofax TotalAgility was a bit more complex or quite long-winded and could be improved. In the next release of Kofax TotalAgility, it would be good to have a straightforward low-code or no-code process because there were instances we struggled with having to put logic into a script or a .NET script, then calling that script, instead of the process being low-code, no-code."
"TotalAgility needs to improve communication with ECMs or other file storage systems because TotalAgility does not have file storage. A good improvement would be to create file storage or integrate with other file storage tools that are currently available."
"It’s not truly low code yet, as every two or three projects, you will have a situation where you have to go behind the essential things."
"Room for improvement would be better OCR functionality in terms of Arabic OCR. There should be better accuracy."
"Kofax needs to improve the low-code or citizen developers rather than focusing on other cloud solutions for data extraction."
"It would be nice if the tool has more connectors to different systems. It is an expensive solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"You need to purchase user licenses, and you also need to purchase the license for the pages. User licenses are required for your developers to use the developer tools, and you also need to ensure that there is a pool of licenses for the business users so that they can log in and perform their activities."
"It costs 5,000 Euro per year for one license. There are almost 500,000 pages available, so I think the price is good for what we have. It's worth the money."
"The price of this ABBYY FlexiCapture is a bit expensive and the price is based on how many documents have been captured. For example, one or two million captures."
"It is expensive as compared to UiPath. We pay for the licensing and the page count."
"ABBYY is fairly priced."
"Its price is a little bit high and can be lower. Its licensing is very expensive. I don't remember exactly, but for each page, it is about four or seven cents, which is too expensive."
"ABBYY Vantage is a bit of an expensive tool."
"For us, the price is reasonable."
"It is slightly more expensive than other tools."
"It has a perpetual license. You pay once in a lifetime for the volume of scans you will do and the number of users you will have. You can have participants or regular users, and you can have developers and administrators. So, once you purchase it, it is for a lifetime, and then every year, you have to pay for the maintenance. There is an annual maintenance cost, which is about 18% of the licensing cost."
"Kofax TotalAgility is very expensive."
"The price of this solution is less than some of the competition."
"The licensing cost for Kofax TotalAgility is very expensive, though I'm unable to give you the range, the sales representatives of my company say that the product is quite expensive."
