Has connected financial data across departments and improved future cash flow planning
I would like to improve the integration with other solutions, as I need everything integrated, like the HR module, purchase module, SCM, production, and engineering. Each and every module should be connected to the finance module, and I think Oracle provides the right solution. Also, SAP, IFS, or Microsoft Dynamics 365 offer some solutions, but I am not as happy with them as I am with Oracle. I believe that Oracle E-Business Suite could improve by transitioning from Java-based scripts in our system to a web-based environment. While Oracle already has JD Edwards available in web-based format, I think it needs to be smoother for optimization and presentation in the future. In comparison, IFS is fully web-based, and all applications are sufficiently good and user-friendly. We are developing and trying to improve to a web-based setup, but it is currently too costly.

Long-term adaptation and evolution meets changing technology trends
SAP ERP is not really real-time. We use the HANA database which is supposed to be memory data in memory, but we are still not very happy. It is supposed to be real-time and come very quickly, but in reality, it still takes time to run. That is why we use BW of SAP, Business Objects, and now we have moved to the Analytic Cloud where we start using predictive AI. SAP recently implemented Databricks, and they started investing significantly in the analytic environment. SAP ERP has been left behind as they moved to S/4HANA with the HANA database. They restructured the whole table structure of SAP ERP, introduced simple finance, simple logistics, and moved HR to SuccessFactors. They have the BTP layer where they manage everything from integration to master data management. The challenge with SAP is that they move very fast to different products and buy different products. It requires significant investment and many skills to catch up because all of these have different sets of technology. The fundamental has changed differently. It is not monolithic anymore but different products under one name, SAP. You have to buy it model by model for additional models. Products such as SuccessFactors, Ariba for procure to pay, Concur for travel, and Facility Management use totally different technology. They try to integrate with each other, but it remains a challenge for SAP to make them have the same management, technology, and operational approach.

Offers robust integrations and comprehensive document management
Siemens PLM TeamCenter has been my favorite product after using it for the last 10 years. It has many excellent features such as managing documents, parts, and designs. Regarding integration, I generally prefer to use OOTB integration, and Siemens PLM TeamCenter provides numerous OOTB integrations with CAD applications and SAP tools, making it a comprehensive end-to-end product. They have the TeamCenter Visualization tool, which is a separate tool with strong integration capabilities to help with markup and reviewing design models. The TC viewer is also an excellent product as a separate module of Siemens PLM TeamCenter.

Cons

"The biggest area for improvement would be in the area of user adoption. After we did our first upgrade and went through the whole process, our users hated Oracle."
"The user interface is not completely a web interface, it uses a lot of traffic which costs too much for a large number of users scattered throughout the country as they connect from their terminals to do their tasks."

"I'm not impressed with the out-of-the-box analytics. It's really the bare minimum."
"There should be better support provided to be able to migrate to S/4HANA easier."
"The production system must be upgraded."
"We raised requests with SAP but the response was very poor and customers were totally fed up."
"One thing that is lacking in ERP is a good user interface. It is currently very clumsy and complex."
"SAP needs to be more intuitive."
"My thoughts about SAP ERP's functionality for human capital management are not clear and not positive, as I have not researched this area extensively."
"The initial setup is complex."

"The biggest issue I have is how it locks resources."
"In my experience, Siemens PLM TeamCenter has faced many downtimes, and there were situations where we encountered errors in fetching data."
"This solution works, but it has many issues. Smaller companies are coming up the cloud-based PLM solutions that may replace larger PLM companies like PTC or Siemens in the future. "The product's web interface and setup process could be better."
"An area where Siemens PLM TeamCenter can be improved is in security functions."
"Siemens PLM TeamCenter is stable for a wide range of applications, but there are some integrations that are unstable, and Siemens is updating them."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"In order to minimize the implementation and consultancy costs, business lines should have proper definitions. They need to have a proper way of retrieving their data, which should be structured well."
"Licensing and costing of Oracle EBS is very complex. We recommend to use a system integrator during the negotiation process since Oracle sales representatives sometime do not know the actual minimum requirements and may oversell the necessary licenses through ignorance."

"Pricing for Oracle E-Business Suite is seven out of ten. You must pay extra for maintenance and technical support, apart from standard license fees."
