Infrastructure management simplifies for clients with integrated interface and enhanced resource utilization
Currently, the HPE HCI is based on the VMware solution, and most clients are skipping VMware because VMware has changed its licensing method. If HPE starts to use its own hypervisor for its HCI solutions, it will be the best solution. We push a different vendor for the backup and replication, so we only use the HCI, then we use Veeam for the backup and replication section.

Has integrated solutions and rapid recovery made management smoother and more reliable
There is the latest update from HPE regarding HPE SimpliVity. For virtualization, HPE has to depend on other manufacturers, OEMs such as VMware or Hyper-V. Recently, HPE declared the VM essential virtualization solution. In the future, if HPE integrates HPE SimpliVity with VM essential, that will be a great combination. Functionality-wise, I am totally satisfied with HPE SimpliVity, but for improvement, if HPE integrates its own virtualization solution, this combination and integration will be beneficial because this integration can be configured with the cloud-based system. A VM can be uploaded to the cloud from this, which will be advantageous for backup to other sites.

Infrastructure efficiency has improved significantly with quick server provisioning, though physical to virtual migrations need a streamlined in-house tool
From my experience with Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI), there is one area that needs improvement. When moving a critical infrastructure from a physical machine to Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI), we currently have to use a third-party tool to convert the physical machine to a VM. We have to use VMware converter to perform this conversion before moving it to Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI). I would suggest that Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) should develop their own P2V (physical to VM) tools instead of requiring users to rely on third-party solutions.

"Backups happen very quickly."
"The solution is very stable."
"What I like about SimpliVity is the brand value of HP, and I also like the data compression ratio, which is around more than 75% data compression ratio, while HP's support and the ease of working with SimpliVity are also valuable features."
"We like the backup feature, which is inbuilt."
"Nutanix is a converged system with web-scale technology, and the technology is invisible to the IT department so you can focus on your business instead of making IT a problem in your organization."

Cons

"I think the solution could be more secure and more economical."
"Currently, the HPE HCI is based on the VMware solution, and many clients are skipping VMware due to its changed licensing method."
"I think that OneView should be replaced by something else for the management."
"In my country, the biggest issue is probably pricing."
"The product must provide more storage capability."
"An area for improvement would be the ease of installation and setup."
"I would like to see a more intuitive, user-friendly UI."
"Data protection and optimization is really weak; they do not offer deduplication or compression, and we do not have a real backup solution beyond snapshots, which is forcing us to do automatic backups of the extremely important data on different servers."
"The local support in Argentina is not good. This is a new technology and HP doesn't have a lot of technology specialists here in Argentina. It's very hard to find the specialist here."
"Its deployment should be easier."
"Our customers are always looking or a discount on the product."
"I have not seen ROI."
"HPE support is still not aware/trained on SimpliVity, and this is beginning to show."
"We should have something called micro segmentation inside the SimpliVity box, which can be easily implemented."
"Increased storage capacity for big data, something that we have not had."
"I'd like to see some improvements in terms of simplifying deployment and making it more user friendly. I think the technical support could be improved as well."
"I would like to see Acropolis add the ability to migrate VMs between storage containers. I don't know if they've added this in the latest versions, but I haven't seen it yet. It's mainly about AHV. When we use VMware, we can move between storage containers. In VMware, it's just like regular storage, and we can move it."
"Could have better visibility with the main OEM backup integrators."
"Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) has really become very expensive."
"I don't feel that I am receiving the performance which I am paying for."
"The ability to create clusters faster would be nice to see in a future release."
"The reporting section of the dashboard could be improved to include more detailed reporting about the servers."
"Nutanix marketing strategy needs improvement, particularly in Myanmar."
"It is a CentOS-based operating system, but CentOS releases security patches almost every week or every other week. However, Nutanix releases their upgrade at three or four month intervals."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is expensive - not only the hardware costs but server costs too. And the more you scale, the more expensive it gets."
"The entire solution is packaged with all licenses and support."
"It is an expensive solution, however. If they could adjust the pricing, that would be helpful."
"Pricing with Dell EMC is double the price which I paid for HPE. However, in the end, Dell EMC is double in performance. This is not an apple to apple comparison though, as I have a four node from Dell EMC and a three node."
"The solutions cost us a lot."
"The product's pricing is very competitive because HPE provides a buyback policy to users...Users can make either monthly or yearly payments towards the licensing cause of the solution."
"I would rate the price at seven out of ten. There are no additional licensing fees, but it would be cheaper to go with a dHCI solution."
"There are costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
"It is not expensive. We bought its license for two years. For support, we pay yearly."
"Cost is a factor. It is quite expensive."
"HPE has decided to sell the solution in all-flash configurations, which may not be as cost effective for smaller mid-market enterprises."
"Other vendors fall short on price compared to HPE on this product."
"The solution is priced high. However, there are plenty of features as part of the package that other solutions do not have."
"It has helped to reduce our VMware licensing costs due to host consolidation."
"It is expensive for this market. Everyone says that it is a very good product, but the only complaint is about the price."
"The price should be cheaper."
"In terms of the solution's licensing, it's quite comprehensive."
"Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure’s pricing is very good and competitive."
"Our Nutanix license is for five years. There is a support arrangement there, but that aspect is more or less taken care of during the initial installation. With HCI architecture, whenever we do any kind of auto scaling or scaling of servers and resources, there is a significant amount of software licensing involved."
"The price of Nutanix is lower than other products."
"If a customer has been using VMware, the difference in pricing is lower. However, if they are looking to use the VMware, the price can be much higher depending on the license."
"Nutanix is cheaper than Cisco HyperFlex, although it depends on the configuration because Nutanix can also be expensive."
"The overall cost depends on the contract of each customer and the discounts they have, but the price for the three-tier architecture can be slightly lower."
"Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure is expensive."
