Infrastructure management simplifies for clients with integrated interface and enhanced resource utilization
Currently, the HPE HCI is based on the VMware solution, and most clients are skipping VMware because VMware has changed its licensing method. If HPE starts to use its own hypervisor for its HCI solutions, it will be the best solution. We push a different vendor for the backup and replication, so we only use the HCI, then we use Veeam for the backup and replication section.

Experience improved integration and cost-efficiency while facing support challenges
The best features of VxRail are its compatibility with VMware, its hyper-converged solution capabilities, and its single line of support. These are the most beneficial aspects of VxRail. I switched from the previous HP solution to Dell solution because it was a good decision. With HP servers, we dealt with a vendor for the compute servers, another vendor for the storage servers, and another vendor for the networking, which required us to manage multiple vendors. Now, we have a single team who can handle VxRail and a single line of support. We don't need anything other than that, and these are the differences we noticed after we switched.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's a very complete product with residencies to protect data and secure it end-to-end. It includes storage, computing, and networking, offering a fully ten-key solution."
"It is a scalable solution."
"It is easy to manage; the administration is simpler. It saves a lot of rack space in the data center because you can consolidate 20 servers into three to five nodes. The client will be able to benefit from power savings and cost savings as well."
"Hyper-convergence is the most valuable aspect of the solution. We can avoid downtime when there's maintenance or updates needed. Also, we have homogenous hardware, so we have a lot of trust in the solution's reliability."
"Hyper Converged is highly stable because it's installed on our VMware platform."
"The most valuable features are the ease of use, resiliency of solution and data protection."
"It helped our business continuity, for example, if you have a failed disk or you have some errors, the system keeps running and you have time to fix it."
"The most valuable features of this solution are fast deployment, security, and it is easy to upgrade."
"It is truly a hyper-converged infrastructure, so everything is there together."
"The initial setup was very easy."
"The initial setup was not complex."
"It offers a very solid service alongside its innovative features and capabilities."
"Scalability is easy with VxRail, and I would rate it almost a ten out of ten."
"VxRail is a simple, efficient solution; it's easy to upgrade and scale the solution, and if we increase our user base, we can easily scale it out."
"This solution is very scalable and you can add extra nodes to the cluster and bring it online without any interruption to production systems."
"The customer was impressed because we delivered a serious data reduction, showing them that 10 terabytes on their traditional storage solution could be reduced to 1.5 terabytes in the VxRail systems."

Cons

"There are some general issues around component failure and raising technical support. Overall, the stability is rated seven or eight out of ten."
"This solution is very costly."
"The software version on the HC380s we are using is version 1. It does not support spanned vCenter which we use since we have multiple sites."
"The improvements could be customization and backup efficiency."
"The installation was very complex."
"The product must provide more storage capability."
"If the solution could further compress the data, it would use less storage."
"An area for improvement would be the ease of installation and setup."
"From a hardware and software perspective, there could be an improvement in the sales cycle, as there is a lot of hoops to go through to get pricing on a solution."
"As I said, one place for improvement would be the automated update for VMware Tools."
"There is a limitation on the number of nodes."
"Technically speaking, the vCenter and the administration of the integration of the vCenter could be improved."
"The hardware configuration is limited."
"At present, VxRail is a hyperconverged state of the art product being installed in a legacy way. We need hyperconverged install teams."
"When you converge the solution, you have to be very careful because the great scalability comes at an important cost."
"It still has some maturity to grow. It needs to be more tightly integrated with its own family of products. It has shown that it is open with the other products within the market, through its stack, but it needs to have the proof in the market (with use-cases), and it has to have the scalability with the integration."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would rate the price at seven out of ten. There are no additional licensing fees, but it would be cheaper to go with a dHCI solution."
"It could be cheaper, everything could be cheaper."
"The solution is too expensive for our customers. The pricing should be lower."
"There are costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
"It is a cost-effective solution."
"With this solution, I buy everything together, pre-packaged, pre-installed, and in just 15 minutes, it's installed."
"The solution is expensive - not only the hardware costs but server costs too. And the more you scale, the more expensive it gets."
"If I'm comparing with Dell, HPE Hyper Converged is definitely cheaper in my experience."
"The price would be in the middle to the expensive range. It is not cheap."
"The VMware licenses are included and we do not have to worry about the license, everything is integrated."
"There is an advantage for those who have a good deal with Dell. Its price is good. From a company's perspective, it is always too expensive, but it is about value for money."
"The solution is priced well for businesses."
"It varies. It could be $100,000 at the smaller end and millions and millions of dollars at the higher end."
"The price is good."
"VxRail is quite expensive and could be cheaper. I would say that the main difference between VxRail and the competition is cost. There may be some differences in features, but I would say that it's mainly the costs."
"VxRail is expensive because it's based on VMware and V-SAN. The price is not the cheapest. The technical support is expensive, but it is a good service."
