We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I manage the platform, and I don't really use it. The scheduling aspect of it is valuable where you create your groups and then either manually or via API call, you can initiate an alert. It'll look at the schedule and only contact those people who are on-call. So, it takes the guesswork out.""It's a lot easier to create and manage schedules, especially in comparison to the on-call scheduling creation in ServiceNow. That has always been something of a bear to operate. We've found it's a lot simpler in Everbridge.""The most important feature, from our perspective, is the integration with our ticketing system. That eliminates wasted motion and time in drafting and sending and finding the right distribution list.""It's mainly for mass notification and pooling of contacts. Pooling of customers is valuable.""It just runs. I do not think we have had a single outage; nothing. There has not been a single issue with it in the time that we have had it running. It just works.""With SaaS, we can implement in other regions without having to physically go to there.""The response time is real-time alerting. It is very helpful, because it makes things a lot easier. All we have to do is put a circle around a geo-fence and shoot off a message.""I personally love VCC because I just think there needs to be more data to support it so we can be more proactive and easily assess the impact. So, I appreciate the visual aspect, but it has to have the data to support it. It has proved very useful, particularly because we have a GSOC that's not technically 24/7. We do have an 800 number that people call 24/7. If something happens, they can easily send Everbridge a notification to activate the team off hours. It is useful in that respect too. We use it in conjunction with teams, but off-hours and for additional people outside of the core team, we use Everbridge, which is useful."

"The root cause analysis is very helpful for us.""We have a lot of teams using Splunk and they would be blind without it.""The modeling required to setup ITSI has been very helpful in providing us a better understanding and a logical view of our services. The modeling is flexible and can be as granular or high level as our needs dictate.""ITSI provides a visual representation of complex tools and context, using color coding and other features to make it easy for anyone at the monitoring or service desk to use.""The feature that stood out to me most from Splunk IT Service Intelligence (ITSI) was automated dashboarding or reporting. The solution lists the severity level of issues, and the response times.""ITSI includes a feature called a glass table.""The most valuable features are the agility, being able to ingest many data sources with no limitation on capacity.""Our mean time to detect is down to five minutes."

Cons
"The incident templates can get complex and hard to troubleshoot, so it helps to focus on keeping it simple.""The feature that xMatters has that Everbridge doesn't have, or has in a limited way, is a method of funneling some alerts, as an FYI, to other stakeholders who are not necessarily prime actors in an incident.""Explanations are limited to 500 characters in description fields.""I know that we get frustrated at the capacity of SMS messages. It's not very long, and if you want to send a long message, they end up sending you a link to the rest of the message.""You have to create schedules in Everbridge. It would be better if it could tie into an existing solution, such as Microsoft Exchange or Google Calendar, so that you don't have to create it in both places. That's one thing it lacks right now. You can't just say, "Hey, look at this Microsoft calendar. That's what we want to use." You have to create it in Everbridge.""I swapped two people's weeks, and at least from what I saw, I had to do each day individually. It would be nice if I could swap two people's weeks without having to do it each day.""I would like to have a little bit more flexibility in the member portal.""A key area for improvement - and I think they are working towards these things - is analytics. If I want to do sophisticated reporting and analysis of the data that's being captured in IT Alerting, at the moment, the reporting interface is immature."

More Everbridge IT Alerting Cons →

"We're using predictive analytics, and there are three or four algorithms. It would be helpful if this process were more standardized and scalable.""Integration is the most critical area to improve in Splunk IT Service Intelligence (ITSI). It wasn't a great experience because you had to do a little back and forth to integrate the solution.""Splunk ITSI lacks out-of-the-box solutions for enterprise users.""Splunk ITSI generates numerous false positives and has the potential for enhancement.""It was an intimidating tool for us to jump into at the beginning.""Splunk ITSI consumes a lot of CPU resources.""We have problems doing upgrades and operating alternate new versions.""It would be advantageous to enhance the dashboard by incorporating sections for monitoring, service health, and a filter for the KPIs."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "When we did our contract, we did a three year contract with fixed pricing. We locked in the pricing for three years. As we have grown, we locked in pricing for additional units of employees."
  • "Their call structure is based on how many people are IT alert people and who is on the calendar, and the cost will be driven by those numbers versus if you are using it for the non-IT alert. As you look at the competition and other vendors, make sure you truly understand your cost structure with them."
  • "They are one of the top three most expensive products. I also understand if you are going to use them for IT alerting, it is worth it. They are competitively priced, but the IT alerting is the differentiator. The way that they market it and push it out. That is their premier function."
  • "Pricing is reasonable."
  • "For us, the pricing is a good value. I can't say whether or not their list pricing looks favorable to everyone who's checking, but I can say that the process of sourcing and procurement with them was very professional, comfortable, and friendly. The negotiations were done well on both sides, and in the end, I'd say the price was very effective... I think that people will find that Everbridge is a great listener and is willing to meet in the middle."
  • "Their pricing is a good value and very reasonable. They are very upfront about their pricing. There is nothing confusing about it."
  • "We thought the base product was pretty reasonable. It can pricey once you start adding stuff on."
  • "It saves us a lot of time."

  • "I would prefer that the price be reduced, as it would be easier to implement it and to sell it."
  • "Splunk pricing is high."
  • "The pricing of Splunk is a bit high."
  • "Splunk ITSI is a pay-per-use service that is priced fairly based on the amount of data we use."
  • "Its pricing has been changed as per the market. You get a good support service with it as well. They have 24/7 customer support. There is a portal, and if you are having issues, they are available in order to resolve them. So, its pricing isn't too much."
  • "Splunk ITSI is expensive; however, with the appropriate use case, it justifies the cost."
  • "Splunk ITSI is an expensive tool, and we need to purchase the utility license."
  • "Pricing has some room for improvement."
