Flexibility and detailed performance stats enable effective network monitoring
Spectrum is very good at monitoring all network faults and configurations. It enables me to take action based on network issues. The Performance Management provides detailed network performance stats, including CPU, memory, and interface bandwidth. Additionally, Spectrum is flexible and allows me to organize and treat devices uniquely without impacting other devices.

Reporting features improve operational efficiency while weekend support needs enhancement
Support is moderate and needs improvement, especially during weekends when technicians perform upgrades. During weekends, they need to provide more support to ensure a smooth transition. There is a call for ManageEngine OpManager to scale better in automation and AI functionality. Although the product stability is good, support enhancement is necessary to enable better planning for upgrades and maintenance activities.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"When devices are having performance issues, it proactively build dashboards, which allow us to go and do health checks, and resolve problems before they become an issue."
"It has improved efficiency because now there is the one-stop shop where you can view all your data, instead of needing to click around in four different tools."
"Since the implementation of the tool, it has cut down on probably 60% of our outages and letting us know what is going on."
"It gave us one location, one place to do all of group administration, and to build dashboards, and device administration, inventory counts... it really reduced our overall administrative overhead."
"I think the product has matured a lot, and I’m impressed with CA when I hear about new features."
"In the last three years, it has had a great improvement in its stability; it is great that it works and we have had no outages in this time."
"The integration with NetFlow, the NFA solution, so that we can have our flow forensics paired with the SNMP polling performance metrics on the same page."
"It is very easy to add devices; just be aware that it requires SNMP to be enabled."
"You can put all of your work on there, they'll send you an email or send you a text. That functionality as a network engineer is the one I like the most. I do like the fact that we can schedule reports. That works too because that's a lot fewer spreadsheets that I have to create."
"We had evaluated other products, and we decided to go for OpManager because of its ease of use and cost."
"We use ManageEngine OpManager to monitor our link status, latency, and errors."
"OpManager technical support is good."
"Concerning the ROI from ManageEngine OpManager, we're very happy and satisfied because we didn't have to pay for additional overheads, particularly because we now don't need that many admins, so we were able to save."
"The solution is easy to deploy; it's also easy to manage and monitor the environment, and instead of being reactive, it's proactive."
"Some of the useful features are NetFlow and analytics."
"The product provides intensive reports."

Cons

"It would be helpful if CA provided online training for its customers."
"We would like to be capable of reporting network performance with a report strictly focused on the times outside business hours, which CA PM does not currently support. We have discontinued the use of the Business Hours Filtering until CA engineers are able to resolve or offer guidance."
"Some of the individual report views, the way some of the columns sort, there's room for improvement in giving us more flexibility in being able to sort reports based, for example, on what columns the metrics fall under."
"I have mixed feeling about the scalability. I feel like there are things which are being put into UIM right now that are not being included in Performance Center that we need to see in Performance Center."
"This solution is not very scalable."
"The dashboard features are very function rich, but the reporting feature is probably not as rich as we'd like it to be."
"Spectrum's topology view sometimes does not rebuild automatically when a device is shut down and reconnected. It requires manual discovery and rebuilding of the topology, which I hope can be improved."
"It seems like we escalate more than I would like to. If anything, they should look at how the tier support goes in place."
"The dashboard has some limitations and should be more user-friendly."
"There needs to be improvements to make the solution capable of supporting more devices, and it would be good to see an option for automatic deployment."
"The dashboard could include additional features."
"The storage level monitoring needs improvement. It needs storage level monitoring on the server itself."
"Needs an OVA, or more support for virtual deployments. Building a virtual instance of OpManager and OpManager Probe was a bit difficult because there was no OVA available."
"We have been facing an issue since last year when a lot of our users started to work from home through their mobiles or computers. We are having trouble reaching these devices. We are now planning to publish our instance to the cloud so that we can reach these devices. Its performance should be improved in terms of the discovery of the devices. I would like to feel confident with the discovery that this solution does. For example, on my dashboard, I would like to be able to view a list of all devices seen on a specific server. At present, it is difficult to find such information. This would be an excellent feature to have."
"Real user and UI monitoring are not practical."
"For the implementation part, I am facing issues when configuring the business view; when I create the business view, I experience problems with the port interface and get confused about which interface is connected to which endpoint."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We were looking at other vendors in the marketplace for NetFlow, and CA just beat everybody else in price, cost, and the size to implement. "
"Do your homework and know how many devices you will be managing out of the gate. Be sure to project what your growth will be each year."
"We purchase a license to use the solution every three years and we have multiple contracts. They have been increasing the price annually. We have a baseline for three years and then we need to pay the difference from the baseline, and we are in the process of negotiating a new price for all the licenses we need. The price overall is affordable."
"I like the licensing model because it's device-based."
"They should provide more scalable licensing for the product."
"The tool's pricing is based on the number of network devices."
"It is not really expensive; it is nominal licensing."
"The price for ManageEngine OpManager is average."
"The pricing is moderate."
"ManageEngine OpManager has a three-tier licensing model."
"The licensing is on a yearly basis and the pricing is on the cheaper side."
"We have a standard license for ManageEngine OpManager. We purchased the license for one year and now we are upgrading it soon."
"The product is not worth the money."
"ManageEngine OpManager is cheaper than SolarWinds."
