Flexibility and detailed performance stats enable effective network monitoring
Spectrum is very good at monitoring all network faults and configurations. It enables me to take action based on network issues. The Performance Management provides detailed network performance stats, including CPU, memory, and interface bandwidth. Additionally, Spectrum is flexible and allows me to organize and treat devices uniquely without impacting other devices.

The main drawback is there is less documentation available, both public documentation and partner-available documentation. The learning materials are very limited, and there is also a limitation of support SLA. It takes a huge amount of time to resolve certain issues when ManageEngine OpManager technical support gets involved. The expertise of support is limited. Reporting could be improved with more details. The content and richness can be improved on the reports. To make ManageEngine OpManager a better product, the first priority is improving the after-sales support and learning materials for local engineers and partners to enhance their capacities and expertise. The second priority is improving the product itself, including dashboards and reporting enrichment. Lastly, new feature adoption such as DLP or endpoint monitoring should be considered. Features that should be offered include DLP, Privileged User Access, data classification, and MDR. These are features that can be groomed around the MMS if properly configured.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The ability to very quickly and graphically navigate around, being able to zoom in to a timeframe, apply it to all the other panels - things of that nature - are all very intuitive."
"Scalability is great."
"It makes things faster when we have our network operations center, they can look at their dashboards that we've created for them, and they can see problems immediately."
"Mainly as an MSP configuration, the multi-tenant model helps us to segment the customer and users, as well as providing our operation the capability to oversee all tenants."
"It saves time having it all on one place, so you do not have to jump around from different tools and try to merge the data. It is already done for you."
"Spectrum is very good at monitoring all network faults and configurations."
"There is a good amount of vendor certification which comes with the product. That's all factory-loaded, no need to load any custom-made files. Most of the metrics are calibrated and captured from the devices based on the defaults available from vendor certification."
"One of the most valuable features is the ease of use."
"Alerting is the biggest asset as we can have real-time failure view and predict failures in some cases."
"The product itself is very good."
"In general, this product meets all our requirements, whatever our requirements are."
"OpManager technical support is good."
"The application monitoring is the solution's most valuable feature."
"The setup was easy."
"The most valuable feature is the monitoring alerts, as the administrators are immediately notified and can do the required action immediately, and this is the feature we value and use the most."
"The integration with the firewall monitoring, the security monitoring, is great."

Cons

"The quantity of views which are tied to specific metric families is too high. Also, the problem is the view doesn't tell you which metric family it uses, so you don't know why you don't see data."
"For CA PM, there should be a way of easily migrating the reports coming from eHealth going to CA Performance Center, since CA PC is replacing eHealth."
"Since we are out of registered IP space, we are moving to ipv6 and we expect our vendors to move with us, and they have not delivered yet."
"There are some issues. We started supporting UTA and began to see both major and minor problems."
"Even though we can see when something is not available, it would also be it would be nice if some sort of alerting took place to that you could know immediately if something went down."
"This solution is not very scalable."
"We experience disconnections between the solutions own components."
"Spectrum's topology view sometimes does not rebuild automatically when a device is shut down and reconnected. It requires manual discovery and rebuilding of the topology, which I hope can be improved."
"The two views into the system are very good but could be extended to further customization to fit the need of end users in a variety of roles."
"If you have a ton of devices, it might slow down a bit."
"ManageEngine OpManager could improve the default dashboards that are available. We are not able to customize them easily and they do not give us the information we need unless we customize them. You need to have the technical knowledge to be able to do it, the customization should be easier."
"Its performance should be improved in terms of the discovery of the devices."
"The support for this solution needs to be improved significantly, to the point where we will no longer be using some of the available products because we cannot get the required support for them."
"The integration with various OEM products could be simplified."
"The data provided by the tool is not accurate."
"The pricing of the solution is high."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We were looking at other vendors in the marketplace for NetFlow, and CA just beat everybody else in price, cost, and the size to implement. "
"The tool's pricing is based on the number of network devices."
"I like the licensing model because it's device-based."
"We purchase a license to use the solution every three years and we have multiple contracts. They have been increasing the price annually. We have a baseline for three years and then we need to pay the difference from the baseline, and we are in the process of negotiating a new price for all the licenses we need. The price overall is affordable."
"They should provide more scalable licensing for the product."
"Do your homework and know how many devices you will be managing out of the gate. Be sure to project what your growth will be each year."
"The price for ManageEngine OpManager is average."
"The product is not worth the money."
"The initial cost is low and the add-ons are reasonable."
"We had perpetual licenses. The cost was around 36,000 for OPManager, and then you'd have the yearly maintenance fee of 2,000 or 3,000."
"Pricing for ManageEngine OpManager depends on the number of nodes you onboard and whatever pricing is reflected on the ManageEngine portal which offers discounts from ten percent to fifteen percent. It purely depends on the sales volume and the negotiation. In my organization, there are about one thousand two hundred nodes which cost around $29,000 per year. There's no additional support fee or maintenance fee from ManageEngine OpManager. Pricing for the solution is highly competitive and I would rate it five out of five. ManageEngine OpManager is one of the most competitive options out there."
"The price of ManageEngine OpManager is reasonable. We have an annual license and the cost comes from how many devices are being monitored. There is not anything extra cost for maintenance and support."
"It is reasonably priced."
"The solution's licensing costs are yearly and based on the number of applications."
