Doesn't have daily updates, which is important for healthcare IT
I face challenges with the exclusion policy - it still scans folders we told it not to, causing issues. When we contact support, they tell us to update the latest agent, but we can't do that immediately due to medical device protocols and validation testing. I wish support would try to understand our issues better instead of giving this standard response. The machine learning feature they use often tells us to upgrade the agent or add things to the exclusion list, which isn't unacceptable. It's a very good and new technology as a tool and antivirus. But sometimes, it doesn't work properly with our medical devices and products, quarantining files it shouldn't even after we add them to exclusions. This is tricky for us.

Provides effective real-time threat detection with potential for cost optimization
Some features such as device control, firewall management, and file analysis are standalone products that we need to purchase separately. If these features came out of the box within the product, it would be much more beneficial for us. Other providers such as SentinelOne include these features in their base product. We attended a CrowdStrike Falcon event where they discussed some shallow AI features, but we cannot see these in our panel yet. We work with different solutions such as Darktrace and SocRadar, where AI features are automatically displayed in our dashboards after release. However, for CrowdStrike Falcon, we cannot see these features.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution’s AI is its most valuable feature."
"A user can continue to add endpoints and the solution will continue to perform well."
"We chose the solution because it doesn't have daily updates, which is important for us in healthcare IT, where network usage and connectivity to hospitals matter."
"Has good RAM capacity for the power I need"
"The solution is extremely scalable. It's got the hybrid functionality, it's got the system functionality and cloud functionality as well."
"In most cases, the solution's ability to detect in the MITRE framework, and its ability to be able to detect attacks in any one of seven or eight different areas of the life cycle of an attack is very useful."
"The most valuable features of CylancePROTECT are its powerful machine-learning capabilities and predictive intelligence."
"It is extremely simple to manage and deploy."
"The best benefit of CrowdStrike Falcon is 99% MITRE coverage."
"It provides very good protection and the ability to crosscheck environments."
"Scalability hasn't been an issue for us."
"The product's deployment phase is easy."
"The detection is very effective."
"CrowdStrike provides a lot of visibility in their tool."
"The detection is very reliable. Also, OverWatch is a great feature."
"CrowdStrike has improved our incident response capabilities."

Cons

"The stability could be improved."
"They could improve on the false positives, reporting and whitelisting features."
"CylancePROTECT could be improved in its technical support and communication."
"The price for this EPP platform is expensive and could be improved."
"The product needs to continue to offer better alerts. In particular, around false positives. It needs to reduce them from happening."
"The OPTICS component could be made more user-friendly with respect to giving people more information."
"I'd like them to do software distribution too, but they said that that's architecturally not at the product line."
"Having worked with SentinelOne, Cylance is good, however, it probably needs to add a feature similar to SentinelOne's rollback functionality. With this feature, if you get infected, with a click, you can go back to the pre-infection state. If Cylance could add this functionality to their offering as well, that would be ideal."
"One area for improvement in CrowdStrike Falcon could be the user interface and reports; it requires some improvements to be easily handled."
"The technical support could improve because I am in India and the support I receive is from the UK or Australia. It is difficult to manage the time difference. The service could be faster. However, when we do have the support they are knowledgeable."
"The product could be more accurate in terms of performance."
"In the six months that I have been using CrowdStrike, it has not been able to detect anything."
"The detection time has room for improvement."
"They should provide us with good visibility for everything."
"The dashboard does not have the facility to export the reports in a PDF format, which I can quickly share with internal stakeholders."
"CrowdStrike Falcon could improve by adding manual scanning or serverless scanning. It is not available at this time."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We would just add more if there are new users, but right now you just need one license for per user."
"CylancePROTECT is an affordable solution."
"We went through a third party initially to do the renewal, but we won't be renewing, we will move on to something else."
"The solution's pricing is around the same as most EDRs but slightly behind some of the major ones."
"My company is on a yearly CylancePROTECT subscription. Price-wise, the solution is slightly expensive, so I'd rate it as eight out of ten."
"The licensing part of the product is too expensive compared to other solutions in the market."
"Do not get hung up on price. You pay for what you get and expensive will hurt one time, where cheap will hurt forever, especially if you fall victim to a ransom attack, etc."
"We pay our license on a yearly basis and have just renewed for two years."
"As I'm part of the technical team, not the budgeting team, I don't have information on CrowdStrike Falcon pricing."
"While CrowdStrike Falcon offers significant security benefits, its high price point might make it prohibitively expensive for many small and medium-sized businesses, including companies like ours."
"With respect to pricing, my suggestion to others is to evaluate the environment and purchase what you need."
"When comparing to Microsoft, CrowdStrike Falcon is more expensive."
"The price of CrowdStrike Falcon is expensive and should be reduced."
"I'm not directly involved in sales, so I can't comment on the exact price, but I know the price decreases the higher the quantity we purchase."
"In my opinion, the pricing of CrowdStrike Falcon seems aggressive."
"When it comes to licensing, customers can choose a bundle or select licences based on the specific features they would like access to. This solution comes with premium pricing. It is approximately 20 to 30% more expensive than competing solutions."

Both Cylance and CrowdStrike are amongst the few top of the market in terms or endpoint protection. CrowdStrike was considered among the top 5 in 2017 and Cylance was considered the same in 2019. As they are both highly effective, CrowdStrike is very unique in its user-friendliness, while Cylance is very unique for its minimum utilization of computer's resources. If you compare initial pricing,...

I never used Cylance. We installed CrowdStrike on 6/6/19 and aside from a test file have had zero hits. CrowdStrike has some additional features available (at a cost). One that I am looking at is device control for USB storage devices for policy enforcement. Syslogs are being absorbed by my SIEM as well.
