Helps us to implement and understand the status of our projects
The initial setup is straightforward. The solution's deployment takes around two months time. We have to set up the solution. We have to put in the data to ensure that the solution is working. We need to fill out our process, our tools, and our data. Two developers were involved in the deployment process. It is a self-maintained solution that requires updates from time to time. I rate the setup an eight out of ten.

Agile workflows have streamlined sprint planning and tracking for faster feature delivery
Jira has a very good interface and it is very easy to manage sprints, tasks, and epics. The main feature is the hierarchy, as features can be converted into epics and topics, allowing bigger tasks to be partitioned into smaller ones. The hierarchy feature in Jira helps the team significantly compared to other tools that have been used, such as Trello, which is mainly useful only for a waterfall model. For modern Agile practices, Jira is the most adapted tool in the industry. Another valuable feature is that Jira APIs have been used for data science projects to analyze tasks and get insights. This has also been very helpful in the project.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"ERP approach to IT (edit architecture elements as data using forms, easier for many people compared to drawing / modeling) Hundreds of predefined reports (not only for analysis but also for displaying profiles for single elements like an application including dynamically generated diagrams based on edited data) Very sophisticated meta model (dozens of man years of experience condensed in it) Enterprise collaboration features Web client for the enterprise, either on-site installation or running in a private cloud."
"I would recommend trying planningIT"
"The dashboard is the most valuable feature."
"My personal experience with the product was good, primarily because of the support team's responsiveness."
"Since our service is customized to each client, the ability to customize workflow for each project's specific needs has improved productivity simply by streamlining our efforts."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the source linking on the commit level to git."
"The most valuable features of Jira are the dashboards and user interface. The processes within Jira to monitor, maintain and release are beneficial. It is a continuous development solution."
"It is easy to use and easy to onboard, and it has got a good foundation of offerings for the business requirements if you're working on an agile project or user stories."
"It is a very good product for handling tickets and tasks and managing processes, and it is also very useful and easy to use."
"JIRA was our first experience with ITSM implementation; it allowed us to reduce the amount of tools we were using, standardize our procedures, and measure our work, which in turn helped us justify additional staff resources and training while tracking our busiest times so we could prepare for them."
"Using Kanban boards has allowed us to become a flow-based organization versus a sprint-based organization."
"Jira has helped our company because it is easy to track releases and deployments."

Cons

"The tool is clearly not very intuitive."
"The user-experience, enhanced performance, and in-hand governance can be improved."
"Only few predefined integrations with other tools exist, most integrations are implemented via an integration module based on XML typically needing vendor expertise."
"Sometimes it takes time to load the data."
"Jira can improve by making user management better. It is not easy to have visibility of who has the right to do what."
"We would like to see integration between Tempo and Jira."
"In the way it is deployed, I think Jira is too dependent on the third-party applications that are available in its marketplace."
"The biggest complaint industry-wide about JIRA is they need to purchase additional extensions, such as reporting automation."
"The challenge which I frequently see from Jira is the label. When you search for a label sometimes, it suddenly disappears. If there's a mismatch due to all-caps or lower case, you won't be able to find it. It won't even come up as a recommendation or suggestion. That's something that can be really frustrating, as people create labels in their own specific ways and then no one else can find anything."
"The sprint-related graphics need to be improved."
"Overall, Jira is a little bit old fashioned, it could be more user friendly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is expensive. There is a yearly licensing cost. There are no additional costs, only the standard license, and the cloud license."
"When you get larger, the pricing becomes very, very steep."
"We are using the enterprise license which is nice because it ensures that we always have the latest versions of Jira software."
"The cost is about $10 per user, per month."
"I rate the tool's pricing a five out of ten. It's paid yearly."
"We are on an annual license and could be less expensive."
"The price seems reasonable to me. It's very similar to Splunk."
"To try this solution, use their cloud offering to get familiar. After that, it's in my view worth the money."
"Our client handles the licensing aspect. They have not yet purchased the premium version."
