Helps us to implement and understand the status of our projects
The initial setup is straightforward. The solution's deployment takes around two months time. We have to set up the solution. We have to put in the data to ensure that the solution is working. We need to fill out our process, our tools, and our data. Two developers were involved in the deployment process. It is a self-maintained solution that requires updates from time to time. I rate the setup an eight out of ten.

Agile workflows have streamlined sprint planning and tracking for faster feature delivery
Jira has a very good interface and it is very easy to manage sprints, tasks, and epics. The main feature is the hierarchy, as features can be converted into epics and topics, allowing bigger tasks to be partitioned into smaller ones. The hierarchy feature in Jira helps the team significantly compared to other tools that have been used, such as Trello, which is mainly useful only for a waterfall model. For modern Agile practices, Jira is the most adapted tool in the industry. Another valuable feature is that Jira APIs have been used for data science projects to analyze tasks and get insights. This has also been very helpful in the project.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The dashboard is the most valuable feature."
"ERP approach to IT (edit architecture elements as data using forms, easier for many people compared to drawing / modeling) Hundreds of predefined reports (not only for analysis but also for displaying profiles for single elements like an application including dynamically generated diagrams based on edited data) Very sophisticated meta model (dozens of man years of experience condensed in it) Enterprise collaboration features Web client for the enterprise, either on-site installation or running in a private cloud."
"I would recommend trying planningIT"
"My personal experience with the product was good, primarily because of the support team's responsiveness."
"I have trained several non-it people in its usage and they all say it's really easy software to use."
"One of the most valuable features is querying because the jQuery function is very good."
"The solution has helped my companies efficiency with managing tickets throughout the life cycle."
"Our company follows the Agile methodology for software development, and this product is one of the best tools for companies that do so."
"They have a lot of good metrics in their system to see what's going on."
"The flexibility to create different flows is most valuable."
"I find the solution to be stable, though a bit hard to use."
"Jira is a big platform, and you can use staff management, project management, and other fields that all companies want to use."

Cons

"The tool is clearly not very intuitive."
"The user-experience, enhanced performance, and in-hand governance can be improved."
"Only few predefined integrations with other tools exist, most integrations are implemented via an integration module based on XML typically needing vendor expertise."
"There is a difference between their cloud and their server versions. The next-gen project, which is an advanced feature that allows you to visualize the road map of your delivery over multiple products and over time, is not available yet for the server version."
"There are no fields to search or to filter by, mainly the ones which use a data around a date and time when something changes."
"Backlog pruning and visualization are poor."
"While it's very powerful, it's very complex sometimes."
"There are some little bugs and features which need to be resolved, but they're not so critical."
"If CI/CD is integrated with it, it would be better. Jira has fewer integrations, and Azure DevOps has an easier interface, with everything in one spot so I don't have to jump around in different applications."
"Jira has recently updated their UI, but more can be done to make it even better."
"There is a perception with Jira that they try to nickel and dime you quite a bit."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is expensive. There is a yearly licensing cost. There are no additional costs, only the standard license, and the cloud license."
"The tool's pricing is expensive. The new pricing is indeed quite expensive compared to what it was a few years ago. Last year, when we intended to renew our subscription, we found the pricing considerably higher."
"It is very cheap if you forego the local instance and stick to the cloud."
"The price seems reasonable to me. It's very similar to Splunk."
"When you get larger, the pricing becomes very, very steep."
"The standard package of Jira is for 100 users. They should offer more packages for other increments, such as 500 or 2,000. In my previous company, there was a free package that provided a minimal number of users."
"The price of the solution could be lower."
"It is certainly a long-term solution for our company and for previous companies that I have worked for. They have these long-term term licenses, but I'm not sure if they really pay on a yearly basis. They are certainly using it for a really long period and for a lot of users."
"If I compare Jira's licensing model with that of other products, I think that the other products have a much better licensing model."
