Helps us to implement and understand the status of our projects
The initial setup is straightforward. The solution's deployment takes around two months time. We have to set up the solution. We have to put in the data to ensure that the solution is working. We need to fill out our process, our tools, and our data. Two developers were involved in the deployment process. It is a self-maintained solution that requires updates from time to time. I rate the setup an eight out of ten.

Agile workflows have streamlined sprint planning and tracking for faster feature delivery
Jira has a very good interface and it is very easy to manage sprints, tasks, and epics. The main feature is the hierarchy, as features can be converted into epics and topics, allowing bigger tasks to be partitioned into smaller ones. The hierarchy feature in Jira helps the team significantly compared to other tools that have been used, such as Trello, which is mainly useful only for a waterfall model. For modern Agile practices, Jira is the most adapted tool in the industry. Another valuable feature is that Jira APIs have been used for data science projects to analyze tasks and get insights. This has also been very helpful in the project.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"My personal experience with the product was good, primarily because of the support team's responsiveness."
"ERP approach to IT (edit architecture elements as data using forms, easier for many people compared to drawing / modeling) Hundreds of predefined reports (not only for analysis but also for displaying profiles for single elements like an application including dynamically generated diagrams based on edited data) Very sophisticated meta model (dozens of man years of experience condensed in it) Enterprise collaboration features Web client for the enterprise, either on-site installation or running in a private cloud."
"The dashboard is the most valuable feature."
"I would recommend trying planningIT"
"The most valuable feature is Jira Align, which is a plugin that helps you to understand the progress that is made against each epic."
"This solution is easy to use and takes a lot of burden off the QA team."
"In terms of the general way that the tool functions, it seems like it's a pretty good fit-for-purpose for what we're trying to do, and we've never thought about replacing it with another technology."
"It is very straightforward and easy to use."
"It improved communication, as it was a popular tool, and most people enjoyed using it."
"The most valuable feature of Jira for sprint planning is the timeline feature, which allows for better visualization and planning of releases."
"I liked the flexibility of the application. It was pretty user-friendly."
"The product is quite easy to use and simple to navigate, it's flexible and can provide a lot of different options, such as dashboards that you can create and manage, so you can really tailor-make your own dashboard depending on your needs."

Cons

"The tool is clearly not very intuitive."
"The user-experience, enhanced performance, and in-hand governance can be improved."
"Only few predefined integrations with other tools exist, most integrations are implemented via an integration module based on XML typically needing vendor expertise."
"The plugin management needs a lot of work."
"If Jira would be interested in offering a SharePoint version, it would be beneficial."
"There's been the odd amount of JIRA downtime (not self hosted) and sometimes tickets that can't be accessed."
"One thing that I don't like about Jira is that when you do an export, it only allows a thousand issues. So the export feature needs to be better."
"Stability is an area of concern and it needs improvement, otherwise, it's a good product."
"While it's very powerful, it's very complex sometimes."
"I am not sure if Jira can be integrated with our ERP. We have our ERP for the cost estimates or measurements. It would be nice if we can check or view a plan with the real cost. Currently, we have to do a double check of costs. It would be better to be able to integrate it with Jira."
"Lately, I think Atlassian has been adding too many simplified features that look nice but don't offer the same level of flexibility, and made some fields not available through the API, which is kind of frustrating."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is expensive. There is a yearly licensing cost. There are no additional costs, only the standard license, and the cloud license."
"There is a monthly license required for this solution and it is expensive."
"The tool's pricing is expensive. The new pricing is indeed quite expensive compared to what it was a few years ago. Last year, when we intended to renew our subscription, we found the pricing considerably higher."
"We used to be on a perpetual license provided by our clients."
"I am not sure about the pricing, but I know its licensing is on a yearly basis."
"The tool's pricing is reasonable."
"Worth the extra cost."
"It is an affordable tool."
"We are on an annual license to use Jira."
