Helps us to implement and understand the status of our projects
The initial setup is straightforward. The solution's deployment takes around two months time. We have to set up the solution. We have to put in the data to ensure that the solution is working. We need to fill out our process, our tools, and our data. Two developers were involved in the deployment process. It is a self-maintained solution that requires updates from time to time. I rate the setup an eight out of ten.

Useful for resource and financial management but needs to change Oracle database
The solution helps with tech management. It has a work plan similar to Microsoft Project for tracking progress anywhere. It can synchronize with Microsoft Projects for updating and rebooting tasks. They can also assign tasks to team members who can update progress using timesheets without a sheet. It includes a Project dashboard for managing multiple projects simultaneously and program management for overseeing groups of projects. It offers various data metrics. It has project entities for controlling risks, issues, and protections. It can calculate costs based on resource tasks and compare actual and planned costs. The tool has features for scenario comparison, allowing us to optimize scenarios based on various factors. Additionally, we can manually optimize by managing resource availability, creating staffing profiles, and making payments to optimize in any situation.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"ERP approach to IT (edit architecture elements as data using forms, easier for many people compared to drawing / modeling) Hundreds of predefined reports (not only for analysis but also for displaying profiles for single elements like an application including dynamically generated diagrams based on edited data) Very sophisticated meta model (dozens of man years of experience condensed in it) Enterprise collaboration features Web client for the enterprise, either on-site installation or running in a private cloud."
"I would recommend trying planningIT"
"The dashboard is the most valuable feature."
"My personal experience with the product was good, primarily because of the support team's responsiveness."
"Micro Focus PPM is flexible and easy to use. It's simple to customize and configure workflows."
"The most valuable feature of OpenText Project and Portfolio Management is its workflow."
"There are lots of project management tools that do a good job, but not so many that can manage portfolios and the bigger planning picture."
"Project management, time and resource management, demand management, and workflow automation are the most critical and important modules that can make the PPM usage successful."
"Demand, project, and time management parts are most valuable."
"At the top of my mind, I can't really tell, but functionality wise and time and effort wise it has done miracles here."
"The most valuable feature is resource planning or resource management."
"The financial management is very extensive, complete and easy to use without too much configuration."

Cons

"The user-experience, enhanced performance, and in-hand governance can be improved."
"The tool is clearly not very intuitive."
"Only few predefined integrations with other tools exist, most integrations are implemented via an integration module based on XML typically needing vendor expertise."
"Sometimes, yes. Especially in a Windows environment."
"The HPE PPM license prices are a bit high. HPE PPM does not support agile management."
"The product releases after 9.3 have many bugs in the Resource Management module."
"They can make its UI better. Currently, the UI is a bit clunky."
"Budget management could be provided. Reports could be enriched."
"Reporting; need to be able to provide fancy reporting out of PPM, way it is done in OBIEE etc."
"I was not involved in the initial setup. I know that the project involved a lot of consulting that took a long time."
"There is quite a few areas of improvement - Reporting; need to be able to provide fancy reporting out of PPM, way it is done in OBIEE etc."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is expensive. There is a yearly licensing cost. There are no additional costs, only the standard license, and the cloud license."
"It is SaaS without a base fee."
"Now, we also received an increase in the support license prices, without any advanced notice. At this point, switching to unify all our licensing under HPE and customer support has been poor."
"We have an annual license, and it is fairly priced in comparison to that of other solutions."
"There is an additional cost for product support"
"A large organization will find Micro Focus PPM affordable, but it may be a bit costly for a small or medium-sized company. The license is based on the number of users."
"Support and license management are two hurdles for us. Every time we purchase new licenses, it has taken us half a year to implement those."
"HPE PPM SaaS model is comprehensive, however, the base fee component has customer resistance to its recurring setup,"
