What is our primary use case?
I give you a use case from one of my previous clients, a loan mortgage company from the U.S. They're bringing data from a third-party application, Arrive, into Zoho Analytics. Basically, all of the loans are flowing from Arrive to Zoho Analytics, and they have the lead system flowing from Zoho Analytics to Arrive.
They needed a lot of dashboards that can show which agents have made how much progress and which agents have more loans, including successful stages. I created a lot of dashboards for them, including those for client birthdays and other aspects.
What is most valuable?
I would say the SQL query and the tables in Zoho Analytics are the most valuable features I've found so far. Sometimes I only use Zoho Analytics as a database, not even to show reports. For example, one of my clients, Kimberley, needed dynamic data from Zoho Survey. Zoho Survey doesn't provide options in the response, and they were taking data from Zoho Survey to their front-end website, constantly changing the multi-select choices and matrix choices.
I integrated this with Zoho Analytics because it serves as a database for all of the Zoho applications, allowing me to flow the data of the survey dynamically into their website using APIs.
Based on my experience with different customers, Zoho Analytics has positively impacted their organizations. Most customers come and request specific setups, asking me to create reports because they don't want the hassle of checking things separately. They want to see everything on one screen and apply filters to check pending orders, deliveries, and loans. Most of these customers end up using Zoho Analytics for their projects.
What needs improvement?
The data visualization features of Zoho Analytics can be improved in terms of decision-making processes. There are many shortcomings in the query language, as it is outdated, and many keywords cannot be used. Additionally, there are many types of reports that cannot be created. There should be an option to input HTML and CSS to create custom reports, not just the predefined ones, which I have faced issues with many times when customers request specific report types.
The collaborative features of Zoho Analytics have faced one issue: they have tried to reduce the sync time with most Zoho applications, but even with CRM, the sync still takes one hour. Customers complain, wanting to see the data in real-time, and the add-on doesn't work well; it only functions for the specific table used for the reports.
One area that could be improved in Zoho Analytics is the one-hour sync; it takes too long to sync within Zoho applications.
For how long have I used the solution?
My overall experience with Zoho Analytics and all of the Zoho products spans about three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability and reliability of Zoho Analytics have been good over time. It is stable compared to many other Zoho applications. It's not very buggy, although you might face a bug with the Tabular and Pivot features, such as being unable to sort multiple columns; you can only sort by one column.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Zoho Analytics has shown scalability through many improvements. In the past, you only viewed underlying data, but now you can utilize URL features to redirect users to their records in Zoho CRM or Zoho Desk with just a click, even showing text on URLs without hardcoding them.
How are customer service and support?
I don't often communicate with Zoho Analytics' technical support or customer services. Most of the time, if I reach out, I know they will just waste my time; they typically say, 'Your query is submitted to the department,' and their response often ends up being the same disappointing information.
Based on my personal experience with technical support, I would rate them around six out of ten—definitely not a one.
How would you rate customer service and support?
How was the initial setup?
Setting up data sources in Zoho Analytics can get complicated for a new person. If you lack experience with data sources, you might mix things up. Even within Zoho, if you're integrating Zoho CRM, Zoho Books, Zoho Forms, and Zoho Surveys, everything must be linked properly. Many users create separate data sources for each application, unaware that they need to sync them in the same data source.
Each time you add a field in Zoho CRM, you must go to the data source to check, select that field, and sync the database to ensure it appears in Zoho Analytics.
What other advice do I have?
I work with it internally in my company.
I have only used the AI-driven insights feature of Zoho Analytics for a Zoho Books data source once recently. It does its job to predict stats, but sometimes it becomes vague.
I have integrated various sources with Zoho Analytics, even some third parties. That's a good thing because they provide a token-based API where you don't have to write a script; you just need to use the API keys and authentication-based keys, allowing data to flow into the analytics seamlessly at each interval.
You can predict data in Zoho Analytics with a specific type of report and feature designed for that, but I haven't used it much. I mostly create pivot tables and pivot charts, so I haven't utilized that predictive feature extensively.
I don't have much insight into the pricing and licensing of Zoho Analytics. Most customers buy Zoho One, and since it's included in Zoho One, I haven't seen the individual pricing plans.
On a scale of 1-10, I rate Zoho Analytics a 9 out of 10.
