DX NetOps Reviews

DX NetOps is used for demographic and topological views of network device monitoring. All network devices are onboarded into Spectrum, which performs monitoring, alerting, and related functions. DX NetOps provides a topological view and hierarchically displays how network devices are operating and whether they are experiencing communication issues. DX NetOps shows network device health and related information.

DX NetOps integrates with ServiceNow so any alert from Spectrum automatically transfers to ServiceNow.

End-to-end visibility through DX NetOps scans the entire customer landscape, covering devices in different clouds or on-premises setups, including Azure, AWS, public cloud, or private cloud, using SNMP traps. In some cases, TCP/IP is also used, but the majority of devices rely on SNMP traps.

Network performance is measured using DX NetOps by focusing on device health and establishing thresholds and metrics. We check for any faulty devices or devices that may be out of support or nearing warranty issues and certification problems. All these checks are essential as preparation for the Christmas peak from November 17th to January 6th, ensuring identification of particular reports related to devices that might be out of support or requiring certifications.

The most valuable feature in DX NetOps is the topological view, which is the network topological view. Additionally, DX NetOps has dashboards for each device type, with separated dashboards that contain numerous metrics. These metrics show the reports, and if any particular device is not able to get those metrics data, we check the SNMP traps, which tell us if there is any issue with the servers or devices unable to communicate through SNMP. DX NetOps checks for any issues with particular devices, and we confirm the checks. DX NetOps is fundamentally about dashboards and the network topological view.

Real-time insights through DX NetOps benefit diagnosing and resolving network issues since Spectrum has all sorts of details, but it lacks dashboards and a readable tabular format. DX NetOps integrates the Spectrum data to show topological views and dashboards. End users, such as the network team or customers, utilize DX NetOps to check for any faulty devices or communication issues, including identifying and replacing problematic devices. For example, Sainsbury's, with over 1600 stores and devices, depends on Spectrum to scan everything, including printers, handsets, and barcode readers. When anything is problematic, it identifies the issues and alerts the specific store teams for action.

DX NetOps dashboards have helped in making data-driven decisions as we used to have different dashboards based on the end users. We have Aruba devices, network switches, routers, handsets, and various printers, each represented on separate dashboards customized for different customers. All data comes from Spectrum, and DX NetOps customizes these dashboards based on user needs, allowing them to export reports or print pie charts and drill-down dashboards.

DX NetOps can be improved by expanding its integrations with different tools, as it can currently integrate with Spectrum and other Broadcom products. It would be beneficial to gain integration capabilities with tools such as New Relic or SolarWinds. Integration with DX NetOps occurs through API, which fetches metrics from those tools, and this is currently happening in our area, with DX NetOps receiving data not only from Spectrum but also from New Relic and SolarWinds.

DX NetOps could be improved by providing more communication methods beyond SNMP traps to accommodate different private clouds, especially as customers increasingly adopt vendor-specific clouds. For example, Sainsbury's uses SAP cloud, SAS, and Oracle cloud, where monitoring is not currently possible through DX NetOps and Spectrum, which are limited to certain mechanisms. Within the organization, SNMP is usable, but to display metrics from outside the organization, different communication methods such as agent-based connections, TCP/IP, or secured connections are necessary—features not currently available in DX NetOps and Spectrum.

DX Spectrum has been used for more than 10 years, while DX NetOps has been used for two to three years.

The technical support provided by Broadcom is rated highly. Creating a support case based on priority allows for immediate responses. When there is an issue, we raise a request, and they respond based on availability, with ticket priorities ranging from P1 to P4. They respond according to severity and send necessary patches when required.

The implementation process is straightforward as we transitioned from on-premises to the cloud. Broadcom provides a complete software package, along with prerequisites for installation and post-installation guidelines, making it easy to install any monitoring tools, whether it is Spectrum, DX NetOps, UIM, Unicenter, or other Broadcom tools.

Currently, we are working with Control-M, TWS, Spectrum, and DX NetOps.

Concerning pricing, we are not aware since the customer team manages it. They have a product team with Broadcom and some kind of contract, likely bundling the various tools they have rather than paying separately for DX NetOps alone.

My main use case is alarm management. We are not referring to physical alarm systems; it's not a physical network. It is used in data centers.

The best features I've seen so far with DX NetOps are that it can work with large scale systems, and it has a lot of functionalities and matrices. These advanced network visibility features definitely help me gain insights into my network infrastructure.

I can see trends, fault trends, peak CPU usage, memory usage, and protocol link flapping. The integration capabilities of DX NetOps have helped with seamless connectivity with my other existing IT ecosystem.

I have observed that it integrates with the ServiceNow ticketing system and Ex-Matters for paging and emailing alerts. DX NetOps positively impacts my organization as it's a key factor for network management.

We have not used the predictive analytics capability of DX NetOps in impacting our network management processes. My experience with using automated root cause analysis is that it tells the symptoms and where the issue is; it is pretty easy to navigate around that.

It identifies network issues, but the resolution is manual. DX NetOps is somewhat convoluted, and some of the programming constructs can be documented or driven through languages such as Python, Perl, and shell scripting, but they have their proprietary language, which may not be very user-friendly.

I have been using this product for about a year.

The initial setup is complex due to being a distributed system, with multiple individual systems doing different functionalities.

I would assess the scalability as highly scalable.

I would rate Broadcom support as very good. They are fast, responsive, and have technical expertise.

I used EMC Smarts before. I switched over to Broadcom because I used it in another organization. My current company didn't switch; they had DX NetOps from day one. I would say EMC products are a little simpler than DX NetOps.

The initial setup is complex due to the distributed system architecture.

It requires just one or two people for the initial deployment of the product. The job roles would typically be network management with a networking and programming background. It takes maybe a week to deploy.

I think the pricing is expensive.

I'm not comparing it to other AIOps solutions or network monitoring software. That rating is because some of the programming constructs can be documented. I rate DX NetOps 9 out of 10.

I am not a client; I am a provider. I work for a company that sells Broadcom software. I am a PCL engineer, and Spectrum is part of a bigger product called DX NetOps, which is what we are selling today. Spectrum is part of it; it's not standalone. I also work with another product called DX UIM.

There is a model for network traffic analysis in the NetOps product called NetOps Flow Analyzer. It provides all the necessary protocols and analysis. DX NetOps supports network monitoring across hybrid environments, though I hope it works out of the box. The product features include automation through AI, allowing out-of-the-box analysis of performance data, building baseline trends, and enabling configuration of dynamic thresholds relative to collected data.

It would be useful to have more AI features.

I rate the stability of the product as ten on a scale of one to ten, indicating that it is very stable.

The product is very scalable, to the maximum. On a scale of one to ten, I would rate its scalability as ten.

I will never put ten for support, so the maximum for me is eight out of ten. There is always room for improvement.

The initial setup of DX NetOps can take less than a day, maybe a few hours, depending on the customer's requirements and level of customization.

On our projects, one engineer is usually enough from the vendor side, and we also demand to have at least one person on the customer side to take the implementation forward.

The return on investment is about one to one and a half years. It can save you the cost of the product by reducing expenses and downtimes in 12 to 18 months.

The licensing cost of DX NetOps is expensive, not very affordable, and on the top of the price range in the market. However, there are no extra expenses in addition to the standard licensing fee.

I would recommend DX NetOps to others because of its return on investment, product features, scalability, and comprehensive licensing. It is one of the most sold products in Israel and ranked among the top two or three products used in our market. 

I rate the overall solution as nine out of ten.

I use DX NetOps for large-scale network monitoring, fault detection, and performance analysis. My work involves evaluating how well it handles distributed environments, event correlation, and proactive visibility across network layers. I’ve had the opportunity to explore the full workflow—from deployment to day-to-day operational monitoring.

DX NetOps has brought a noticeable improvement to overall network visibility. Its fault isolation and event correlation help reduce the time spent diagnosing issues, and the platform’s predictive insights have allowed us to catch potential failures earlier. This has directly improved uptime and made troubleshooting far more efficient.

The most valuable aspects are its network monitoring depth and fault tolerance mechanisms. These capabilities consistently outperform other tools I’ve used, especially in complex networks. The predictive analytics are also impressive and add significant value when planning capacity or identifying risks.

I would like DX NetOps to integrate with all Broadcom products in the future to make it closer to a rating of 10. I would particularly like it to integrate with the Symantec portfolio and the Carbon Black portfolio.

DX NetOps is a strong and mature solution. Overall, I would rate it a solid 9/10.

My main use case for DX NetOps is ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our core network infrastructure. It is instrumental in proactively monitoring network performance, alerting us to any anomalies or issues, and providing in-depth insights through its reporting and analytics features.

One of the most valuable aspects of DX NetOps is its ease of setup. It is straightforward to configure, and you can quickly gather data from your infrastructure. This data helps you track trends and understand how resources are utilized in both the infrastructure and server resources, making it a valuable tool for monitoring network performance and resource allocation.

One improvement that could make the product better is to streamline its modules into a more cohesive solution. Currently, it requires multiple modules for various functionalities even when they use similar technologies. It would be more efficient to have a single solution for an enterprise, reducing the need to deploy multiple modules for each specific function. One useful addition to DX NetOps in the future could be automating tasks related to the network infrastructure. Currently, some tasks require manual and potentially complex processes, which can be risky. It would be beneficial if DX NetOps integrated native automation features to make these tasks easier and safer to execute directly within the network management system, eliminating the need for additional modules or tools.

I have been using DX NetOps for almost eight years.

I would rate the stability of DX NetOps a strong ten out of ten. When set up correctly, it can run smoothly for an extended period without issues, making it highly reliable.

The scalability of DX NetOps is outstanding and I would rate it a solid ten out of ten. It can effortlessly handle large numbers of devices, making it an excellent choice for enterprise-level network management. It is a standout feature of the solution and a significant reason why it's top-notch for managing extensive networks.

I rarely had to use Broadcom's technical support for DX NetOps as I usually handle troubleshooting myself. From what I have heard from customers, the support is generally good and responsive. However, since this tool requires deep expertise, clients sometimes struggle to convey their issues effectively. While rare, there have been cases where support may not fully understand the problem, but overall, it is not a common issue.

The initial setup of DX NetOps can be quite complex, especially for new users or businesses. While I find it straightforward due to my extensive experience, newcomers may struggle, and it could be intimidating. Some parts still require manual work, and troubleshooting can be complicated, necessitating a deep understanding of the operating system. One area that could be improved is simplifying tasks like certificate installation, making it more user-friendly and automated from the start.

DX NetOps might seem pricey initially, but they often offer significant discounts, making it a better deal than it appears at first. They are flexible with pricing, especially for loyal users.

Compared to other vendors' products like SolarWinds and Micro Focus, DX NetOps has some similarities and differences. While SolarWinds may have a more user-friendly automation feature, in terms of functionality, they are quite similar. DX NetOps shines in terms of scalability, which sets it apart from the competition. Otherwise, they share the same core ideas and capabilities.

Overall, I would rate DX NetOps as an eight out of ten.

It's used as a network management tool. We primarily use the solution for network management and performance management for network infrastructure.

It's good for root cause analysis for network problems and network link problems. 

The performance is good. They help in showing performance metrics for links, interfaces, and network devices. Even for the traffic analysis, it shows how the company consumes traffic and what type of protocol is consumed, and all that stuff.

The initial setup is straightforward. 

You can get alerts generated when any events occur.

It's scalable.

The solution has been stable. 

Technical support needs to be better. They need to be more knowledgeable and responsive. 

The solution has a big weakness in parts of network configuration management. The parts that collect our backup and the network devices to restore it, are very weak. We only have very basic functionality. They need to make it more sophisticated. It needs to be in compliance with security standards. 

The look and feel and the user experience need improvement. It hasn't really changed in more than ten years and seems dated. They need to enhance the user experience. The UI is very old. 

I've used the solution for more than ten years. 

The performance is very good, and the solution is stable. There are no bugs or glitches, and it doesn't crash or freeze. I'd rate the stability four out of five. 

You can scale the solution. It's not extremely scalable. However, it is possible. I'd rate the ability to scale four out of five. 

We have 25 people using the solution right now. 

I'm not sure if there are plans to increase usage at this time. 

Technical support has changed in terms of quality. After Broadcom bought the product, things have gone downhill. I would have rated it one out of five in terms of our satisfaction level with their support. However, as of last year, they've tried to enhance the service and it's bounced back significantly. If we get support from the US team, we get good help. The quality really depends on the region you get to help you. 

We can face timing delays, response times, and knowledge gaps. If we compare it to other companies, it's still below par.

The solution is very straightforward and simple. It's not a complex process. I'd rate the initial setup a five out of five in terms of how easy the process is.

Initially, it was a very simple installation, one server, and not sophisticated. That said, afterward, we enhanced it, and after consultation, we enhanced it to be scalable in installation to cover all our branches on our device.

For some applications and network management, it took about three months to accomplish the full installation. Even after that, we changed the strategy and redeployed again. It took about a couple of months to have all modules configured and running. That's for the full implementation, not just the installation.

The deployment was run by one or two people. You don't need a lot of staff or a lot of people involved in it. No, there are a lot of people using it as it's in every department. We have 25 people administering it daily. They work in shifts, so not everyone is on it at once. There are about five people handling maintenance. 

While our team now has a lot of experience with the product and can deal with the initial setup internally, we initially used a consultant to help us implement it. 

We have seen an ROI. I'd rate the level of positive ROI we've seen 4.5 out of five. 

They have changed from permanent and renewal to subscription. We need to pay for the product on a yearly basis. All features are included under the subscription. You do not need to buy extra pieces.  They changed it from several products into one package, including three products.

Compared to other options, it is affordable. I'd rate the level of affordability a four out of five. Compared to IBM or Micro Focus, its pricing is quite good.

I have more than 25 years of experience with this product. I never would install these products or customize these products, however, I have an overview of what the functionality is and how it works. We are a distributor. We are a partner of Broadcom.

The stability is very strong. It's a reliable product. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. I'd rate the stability five out of five in terms of reliability. 

We have a range of clients on the solution. Some have 1,00 devices, and others have 100,000.

It's scalability is great I'd rate it five out of five.

You only need around one to two people to deploy it. Of course, then there's an education phase. There are different roles that may be involved in the product and it depends on how big your network is. If you have 5,000 devices versus 100,000 devices as a telco provider, you may have a bigger team. 

We can handle the setup for our clients, and we can also provide further maintenance after implementation. 

There are different types of licenses. I'd rate the affordability a three out of five. They do cater to companies of different sizes. Licensing includes technical support services.

Clients understand Broadcom is not a cheap product, however, the value is good.

We're a reseller and a tier-one partner. We are delivering services as well in this area and have our own products as add-ons to the DX NetOps suite.

The product can be deployed on-premises or on the cloud.

The most valuable features of the solution are the Performance Management and the Spectrum. 

The hardware requirements for implementation can be improved and modified for the solution.

The cost of the solution depends upon its scale and the number of devices that need to be monitored in a given project. The country of purchase is also a factor in the cost of the solution. 

The solution's flow analytics feature is used for network traffic analysis. I would surely recommend the product to others for its stability, robustness, maturity, and telco-grade infrastructure. There are also big references in the global market who are using DX NetOps. 

The solution adapts to increasingly complex network environments and dramatically decreases complexity. Overall, I would rate the solution an eight out of ten.

We are using DX NetOps for network monitoring. We use about 500 network devices, switches, routers, firewalls, and more. We use it for SAP monitoring and net flow monitoring or net flow analytics. 

We appreciate DX NetOps as our customers run critical applications in airports. 

I like that it provides an overall view of our network. From the topology view to every event, we can view it. We can also see the interface utilization for future capacity planning. It fits our use case and environment.

It would be better if they had an NFA network analysis feature. We appreciate features like extended network security for bucket flows, but it would be better to have some IDs, IPS functionalities, DDoS, or something like that.

I have been using DX NetOps for about five years.

DX NetOps is a stable solution.

DX NetOps is very scalable.

We used a different product many years ago. I think it was called NETSCOUT, and we used it only briefly. 

The initial setup is straightforward because we have a very good partner.
