Automation has replaced nightly monitoring and delivers reliable, unified job scheduling
We have really enjoyed working with JAMS in terms of notifications, alerts, and streamlining. There used to be a process with Automate, which is another product from Fortra, but even before that, the other division of the company that we were merging with had a tool that was built in-house called a file handler or file distributor. It was an in-house developed tool, but it was not as streamlined or as efficient as JAMS is. We literally had to have a dedicated nighttime person monitoring. Although we are 24/7, the divisions of the company that we were using JAMS for have been small scale. While we have automated it, we have streamlined it in such a way that notifications go out and alerts go out, but if there is anything, then we get paged and alerted, and if anything needs to happen at midnight, we can wake up. On the other hand, with the tool I mentioned, the file handler and distributor, we used to have a dedicated nighttime person that had to be sitting and monitoring it to see when a file arrived, whether it met the conditions, and then execute the next particular job. By using JAMS, we have gained a lot more efficiencies in terms of all of those to streamline it, and there is no necessary need for having an overnight engineer just keeping an eye on all of this.

Future-proof and powerful with great support
Improvements include: 1) Cost of the Software. Redwood is more expensive than most of the other Automation Software available today; they could make it budget-friendly. 2) It has limited reporting features. Some basic reporting features are missing. 3) There is no option to extract data in Excel. This feature could help in finding errors in the data. 4) Integration with ServiceNow is not supported. 5) The cloud platform compatibility is not up to the mark. 6) Security standards need to be improved. 7) Handling failure is not great; the workflow stops when a job fails and human intervention is required. 8) Configuration and set-up are difficult for someone with less coding knowledge. 9) They need to provide more documentation to assist new users.

Have managed deployments with minimal hiccups and simplified job scheduling through intuitive interface
Scheduling and running jobs is valuable because it simplifies automation. You just need to connect the bot and you can run it easily. For example, with Selenium automation, I tried Automation Anywhere, but I did not see many packages available in Automation Anywhere. Compared to UiPath, there are many packages available to make automation easier, which is why I find UiPath to be the best. Another valuable feature is the ability to give access to people in UiPath Orchestrator at the organization level. They can log in and see the information themselves, which provides transparency to the people and helps with visibility.

Pros

"By using JAMS, we have gained a lot more efficiencies in terms of all of those to streamline it, and there is no necessary need for having an overnight engineer just keeping an eye on all of this."
"The user-friendly and adaptable scheduler allows us to manage various scheduling scenarios."
"JAMS has improved our productivity immensely because everything flows. I don't think we could operate at our current staffing levels without it."
"It has definitely drastically improved our capabilities to scale our automation. Before JAMS, there were a lot of manual processes. We had a couple of operators who spent all day doing that. A lot of the time with human intervention and human processes, it is as good as the person who may be following a procedure and human error is a big problem."
"The alerting in it is really targeted... you can set specific alerting so that if jobs in a given folder fail, certain people are alerted. You can also set security at the folder level, so that only people in those areas can go set them. That means that the alerting and security can be set at a very granular level."
"The most valuable aspect of JAMS is its robustness."
"We also use the solution’s Interactive Agents. If we need to push something to our dealer portal, we can just drop a file in a folder and it goes. Running interactive tasks helps me users focus on business processes since I don’t have to take care of running the jobs manually."
"It's worth its weight in gold and we cannot get rid of it now."
"Redwood is more flexible and we can schedule the tasks based on different time zones."
"Redwood RunMyJobs has been very useful for job scheduling and checking and monitoring jobs."
"It is very easy and easy to use, and minimal supervision is required to run it."
"Redwood is of value to our organization due to of its ease of use and the ability to automate and orchestrate any platform that we utilize today."
"Error handling and the recovery feature ensure that my job processes are not stopped if any error occurs."
"It can centralize and support on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments seamlessly."
"We can achieve anything that anything that we would like to do. In SAP, it's not generally possible with just with SAP. So we have solution manager as an option, but run by job."
"Its monitoring and alerting features are what I found the most valuable."
"UiPath Orchestrator has eliminated the need for human operation, enhancing our automation process."
"The logs are the best feature of the solution."
"The centralized dashboard and asset management in UiPath Orchestrator have proven valuable in enhancing operational efficiency."
"The initial setup was straightforward."
"The most beneficial feature is the queue system, which allows robots to process a large volume of data simultaneously."
"UiPath has one of the strongest community setups."
"The support team is very responsive and effective in resolving issues promptly."
"It was very simple to use and allowed us to easily record and manage activities."

Cons

"The JAMS automation code isn't so clean."
"If around 5,000 or more jobs run at a time, JAMS slows down, and we have to wait around five to 10 minutes or restart JAMS scheduler services."
"Fortra is getting much better with documentation and examples, but there is still room for improvement."
"The search capability needs to be improved because when we try to search for a job, it's hard to do."
"JAMS handles exceptions fairly well but there are some areas where it might improve a little bit. It has to do with being able to automatically handle exceptions, out-of-the-box, rather than having to code them."
"I would enhance the compatibility feature of JAMS because sometimes when the server is under high load, it does not inform us and we cannot get answers."
"The tabs in the JAMS file transfer could be clearer. It would help us demonstrate to our client that JAMS not only automates jobs but also does fast transfers, and it's an alternative that supports and filters different kinds of platforms. Filtering file transfers will be highly beneficial to them."
"The UI is completely unintuitive. We had to go and open up a support ticket with JAMS just to get something back."
"I have not noted any downsides."
"The addition of machine learning capabilities could help Redwood Workload Automation Software better predict job and workflow performance, detect anomalies, and optimize operations based on historical data."
"The job log has a size limit."
"Enhancing the user interface would make it more appealing and accessible to a wide range of users."
"Redwood RunMyJobs should add more good features."
"The documentation for this product is limited, which can be improved in the future."
"The product can improve customer service."
"The solution should have more focus on security standards."
"The licensing cost associated with the tool is too high. If the tool can reduce the license cost, most of the organizations will opt for it."
"The product must conduct more promotional activities and webinars."
"UiPath Orchestrator should improve its UI and make it more user-friendly."
"One area for improvement in UiPath Orchestrator is enhancing automation for exceptional cases."
"The vendor should provide free certification to their partners."
"The installation of the product on an on-premises version can take a long time and may involve some troubleshooting procedures to be followed."
"The credential vault is generic and does not have process categorization. The tool needs to arrange a Customer Success Manager for support. It should also improve the credential manager and integrate a customized form of retrieving the details. There should be more dashboards as well."
"The vision libraries that the tool provides, along with the visualization part, are areas with shortcomings in the solution where improvements are required."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is reasonable."
"JAMS is close to the lower end of the pricing models for enterprise scheduling solutions. They are much cheaper than Control-M, as well as some other products that I've used. I also don't know of another solution where you can actually get true, unlimited licensing, where you can have as many instances and as many agents as you want."
"It's expensive, to be honest, but it does the job."
"For what it does, the product is priced very well."
"There are no additional costs other than the license for Fortra's JAMS which is affordable."
"The product is reasonably priced, and we don't have any add-ons."
"This is a good product at a fair price."
"The pricing of JAMS has not been an issue for us, as it has allowed us to save time."
"It initially surprised me because we went from an application that was priced by connection to agents/the number of agents to an application that was priced based on the number of job executions. At that time, many of the products we looked at were also priced on job execution. That seems to be more common in the business or in the vendors that provide solutions out there, but that was probably our biggest difference."
"The products are available for free on the cloud, and even it is the same to a certain extent for the on-premises version. The pricing is included as a part of the license of the robot from UiPath."
"The solution’s pricing is reasonable."
"The product’s pricing is a little higher than reasonable."
"The product is expensive, and the associated licenses add to the expenses, initially making deploying new processes costly."
"The product has reasonable pricing."
"The pricing is reasonable and competitive."
"UiPath Orchestrator's price is reasonable. We pay around 40k USD. Its licensing costs are yearly."
"The solution's price is high. We have subscribed to 15 licenses which are paid on a yearly basis. We don't pay any additional costs for support and maintenance."
