IBM SevOne Network Performance Management and Veeam Data Platform compete in network monitoring and data replication, respectively. IBM SevOne has an advantage in scalability and real-time monitoring, while Veeam provides superior backup and replication features, though it faces some pricing criticisms.
Features: IBM SevOne offers real-time, agentless monitoring, comprehensive network visibility, and scalability to handle millions of objects efficiently. Its quick reporting capabilities are highly valued. Veeam Data Platform is known for its robust backup and replication capabilities, intuitive user interface, and efficient performance, ensuring minimal downtime during outages.
Room for Improvement: IBM SevOne could improve user management, configuration flexibility, and reporting features. Veeam faces challenges with its pricing model, slower backup performance, and complexity in configurations. Customers would benefit from more intuitive reporting and better support for physical systems and emerging hypervisors.
Ease of Deployment and Customer Service: IBM SevOne and Veeam offer flexible deployment options, including on-premises, private, and hybrid cloud environments. IBM SevOne is praised for its comprehensive support and personal engagements, whereas Veeam is recognized for its straightforward deployment process but would benefit from more intuitive user interfaces and improved technical integrations.
Pricing and ROI: IBM SevOne is noted for its scalable, pay-as-you-grow pricing, suited for expanding businesses, but is seen as costly for smaller companies. Veeam is competitively priced, although recent increases have been criticized. Both products deliver good ROI by reducing operational costs and boosting efficiency, with choices largely hinging on organizational needs and budgets.
The technical support from IBM for SevOne Network Performance Management (NPM) is very good.
The escalation from first, second to third tier is sometimes very long-lasting, but the resolve rate is quite high.
I would rate their technical support a 10 out of 10.
Most cases are handled perfectly.
It is suitable for small, medium, and enterprise-level companies.
Integration with other vendors is also seamless.
I would rate the scalability part of Veeam Data Platform 10 out of 10 because we have the ability to scale out the product at any time with scale-out backup repositories and can add licenses as needed.
In order to scale Veeam Data Platform, we have to pay a lot more money.
The stability of IBM SevOne Network Performance Management (NPM) is excellent.
There are no issues with stability in Veeam Data Platform.
I can say the stability of Veeam Data Platform is almost 8 to 9, as the cluster functionality was not there in earlier platforms such as version 12, but is provided in version 13.
It would be beneficial to have out-of-the-box integration with third-party vendors and improvements in correlation features.
The improvement we would like to see is the option to scale Veeam Data up in smaller sections rather than large sections, which requires paying much more.
OpenStack is something Veeam Data Platform doesn't support, and they haven't indicated that they will support it in the future.
Reducing it by 20% would make it more accessible to a broader range of customers.
I believe it is not expensive; it's the regular price.
Veeam Data Platform is more expensive than OpenStack because we pay for it in US dollars, while we pay for OpenStack in Egyptian pounds.
A reduction of 20% in the current cost would make the solution more attractive to clients.
The most valuable features of IBM SevOne Network Performance Management (NPM) are its stability, usability, visibility, and user-friendly interface.
The platform is user-friendly, comprehensive, and compatible with numerous market solutions, including virtualization and bare metal servers.
The most important aspect of this platform is data security with immutable data in the storage.
Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards.
