Technically, Veeam is best for hyper-v & VMWare replications, snapshots, HA failover, also support for file system backups inside VMs., support for tape library & FC too.
But Veritas Netbackup is a complete & comprehensive enterprise-level software. It is best for file system backups, databases, VM backups, bare metal recovery, support for tape library & FC. The backup schedule policy is better than Veeam.
In comparison, Veritas Netbackup is more reliable & flexible.
As mentioned by many Veaam is best suitable for virtualized environments.
As to Veritas, it has 2 products: Backup Exec and NetBackup.
Veritas NetBackup is more suitable for Heterogenous OS and Database environments.
Veritas Backup Exec is suitable for SMB and mid-sized companies. It supports virtualized environments, file and database-level backups (Microsoft-related DB) and is cost effective.
@Karthik_C i compared and BAckup exec for virtualization is twice cheaper than Veam.Maybe Veeam is faster, but Backup Exec is very realiable and trusted.
Veeam is best for Hyper-V & VMWare replications snapshots, HA failover.
Live backup is available in VMWare only.
Veritas - it specializes in storage management software including the first commercial journaling file system, VxFS, VxVM, VCS, the personal/small office backup software Backup Exec and the enterprise backup software, NetBackup.
Veritas Record Now was an early CD recording software.
If you need more app and DB backups integration, it's better to use Veritas.
For VMS with MS apps only, I choose Veeam. Veeam is a great software for virtual environments but needs to make better integration with larger apps and DB cause of the consistency you need to guarantee.
Hello peers,
I am a Cloud Solution Architect at a system integrator company. I am currently researching disaster recovery solutions.
What are the differences between Zerto, SRM, and Veeam? What is their unique selling point? I am preparing a comparison sheet of the features of all solutions. Which solution do you prefer?
Thank you for your help.

Hi Abhishek,
That's a great question.
In Europe/Austria most of the companies run Veeam - so do we. There a lot of advantages if you use Veeam as it's designed.
Also, Zerto (more for Data migration) we use - but not for Backup.
VM SRM is good for 1:n replication if you already use VMWare.
There is a good comparison: https://community.veeam.com/vu...
It's on the website from Veeam but still good.
Cheers,
Martin
Hi PeerSpot community members,
Currently, I'm researching these three Backup & Recovery products: Dell NetWorker vs Dell Avamar vs Veeam Backup & Replication. What are the main differences between them? In particular, I'm interested to understand the differences in the license models.
I appreciate your help.

I was able to sit the VMCA2022 course on Thursday, October 7th and Friday, October 8th.
The course was taken through HPE Learning and is a two-day course. The course is the entire day for the duration and is jam-packed with great content and labs.
My instructor was George Vish II, who was extremely great with the course teaching.

The course takes you through the new “Design ...
Recently on July 21st, there was a new storage plugin release by @Veeam for the Hitachi storage arrays. It can be found here – Veeam – Hitachi Plugin. This plugin allows you to connect Veeam to your Hitachi storage arrays to leverage the SAN-based snapshots for your backups. Hitachi has also released documentation which can be found here – Hitachi – Veeam Plugin.

If you have a fully virtualized environment Veeam is easier to use.
But if you don't have a virtual system (e.g., you have a NAS server or a non-virtual server), probably bkupExec is better.
