Reliable installation and diverse use cases provide strong value
IBM Security QRadar has some areas for improvement. We have missed some DSM components. We need to customize logs where there is no DSM or connector for certain products. We can integrate but we have missed the DSM, which is the connector to pass logs coming from different applications. For example, with a university customer, we tried onboarding Canvas service. IBM Security QRadar does not support Canvas, so we had to create custom scripts and workarounds to pull logs from Canvas.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"QRadar UBA's most valuable feature is the risk rating of users depending on their behavior."
"It's built around Red Hat Linux, which is highly robust."
"The most valuable features would have to be the products' ability to customize vulnerability management settings."
"I have found visibility very helpful for analytics."
"The solution is relatively easy to use."
"Improved our organization's TCO."
"Flexible and valuable product that is modular, so you can easily set up a roadmap for your clients."
"We have worked with other solutions, such as LogRhythm and Splunk. Compared to others, IBM QRadar has the best price-performance ratio so that you are able to reserve minimum costs. It starts settling in fast and gets the first results very quickly. It is also very scalable."
"The fact that it's a security orchestration, automated response solution with a vast level of insights and the ability to integrate with a number of other security tools."
"The tool is stable. The initial setup is straightforward. The product is user-friendly."
"InsightIDR's Attacker Behavioral Analytics (ABA) and User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA) features have been very useful in maintaining our security posture."
"Based on my user experience, I would recommend InsightConnect for its user-friendly interface and excellent documentation."

Cons

"It would be better if it were more stable and more secure. The price for maintenance could be better. It's too high. In the next release, I think they should focus on the price and the operation."
"It's resource-intensive."
"QRadar needs to be more specialized, along the lines of what other SIEM solutions are."
"There should be more opportunity for community kind of distribution where, for example, if there was a zero-day threat targeting companies."
"The implementation of the solution's technology needs to be simplified."
"The custom rules could be simplified more or it should be possible to use a different language, other than the ones that the solution is already using. They should add other languages into the mix."
"The dashboards are all legacy and old."
"IBM needs to invest more into the collaboration with other vendors."
"The GUI needs improvement, as creating workflows can be cumbersome. More updated plugins are needed to leverage existing functionalities, such as APIs for functions like blocking malicious IPs in FortiGate."
"The GUI needs improvement, as creating workflows can be cumbersome."
"The technical support should be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Go through a vulnerability assessment review for price breaks. A virtualized solution will also cut down on cost."
"You have a one-time payment, and you also can purchase it for one year as a subscription. We have it on-premise, and we have a permanent license for it. We have to pay for the support on a yearly basis. If you compare its cost with Sentinel for one year, QRadar would seem more expensive, but if you compare its cost over five or ten years, Azure Sentinel will be more expensive than QRadar. If you compare its cost with Sentinel for one year, QRadar would seem more expensive, but if you compare its cost over five or 10 years, Azure Sentinel can be more expensive than QRadar."
"It's very expensive but it fits our budget."
"Our licensing costs for this solution is on a yearly basis."
"They can give us some scalability and flexibility on pricing. If its pricing can be reduced, it would help a lot of customers in bringing in a new SIEM environment and grow business in the market. If I start a license today and take around 10,000 EPS, and after a month, there is an increase in the number of clients on my platform, I can increase the number of licenses. I can add 5,000 EPS on a yearly basis."
"I would like for them to lower the price."
"The solution comes with a high price tag, while some of the competitors provide identical functionality in their offerings at no extra cost."
"I feel that the price is reasonable but compared to other products that are on the market, such as an offering by Microsoft, it is more expensive."
