Better support and more accessible resources are crucial. Customers have expressed that support is not as flexible, and it is difficult to obtain necessary information quickly. Customers would benefit from improved training material for integration with other products. The solution's pricing is high and needs to be reconsidered, and the technical support should improve to provide more accessible and open information.

A highly scalable and stable solution that provides excellent features and can be integrated with any product
The support team is more into R&D. They're not focused on support. The vendor lets the partners provide support for the solution. Partners must have StableNet-certified engineers. Complex problems arise for complex installations. When a problem is deep, it takes a lot of time to resolve it. It goes to the R&D and development teams. They do solve it, but the time taken could be reduced.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We managed to convince our client to use CA UIM as it individually ensures monitoring of all the aspects of an application, be it processes, event logs, URLs, ping availability, server response time, log monitoring, database monitoring, clusters, and what not."
"It is the foundation for our monitoring solution."
"As I have worked on this product for quite some time I personally think this product is the best in terms of overall infrastructure monitoring."
"Besides the technical benefits described, CA UIM and CA Spectrum were the key factors in increasing the SLA from the IT environment to 99.99%, from the 99.5% achieved without CA solutions."
"The most valuable features of UIM are that it's scalable and it's relatively easy to set up monitoring on the servers."
"Easy admin functionality. You can quickly do all the admin functionality without reducing cycles."
"I believe that the fundamentals and the logic of how UIM is set up is very stable, providing the essentials to extract data from an environment, present it through a front-end using graphs and charts, and allow for crucial analysis on the collected data, with UIM doing a good job of managing all the steps along the way."
"The real value is our being able to pull all the historic data that we need in order to gather every little metric and nuanced piece of information from a given device, a given piece of infrastructure, in order for us to generate alerts."
"The solution is stable."
"We can integrate any tool with StableNet."
"The best features are the reporting, utilization, and network graph."

Cons

"Customers have expressed that support is not as flexible, and it is difficult to obtain necessary information quickly."
"Technical support is OK. It varies depending on issues."
"The major problem we have when we sell CA UIM is that we need to sell additional products because it doesn't cover all the features."
"More HTML5, more flexibility, and reducing the number of screens, fewer mouse clicks, fewer mouse movements."
"I would like to see auditability. We've built our own audit functionality to ensure that every CI has the desired model configuration applied to it. And we run that on a daily basis. If that became part of the product, I think it might be a little bit less intensive in terms of resource, because we're doing it with scripts."
"Integration with other tools."
"The fresh technology should have been out a long time ago, but it appears to be we're catching up on the UIM, because Microsoft basically says they are not going to support the fresh, starting next year."
"The automated discovery tools have come a long way in the past few years, but it would be nice if that same tool could also pull systems configuration information as well."
"The solution is expensive."
"The dashboard has a lot of room for improvement."
"The existing dashboard capability is there, but it is not user-friendly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"CAD $400,000 annually."
"The product-price ratio is better than other brands such as Fortinet or SonicWall."
"Pricing for DX Unified Infrastructure Management isn't cheap at all. It's a complex tool, so you have to pay more. No one is happy with a large bill to pay, but if it's a complex product and you designed a complex solution to be monitored, it'll be your fault that you need to buy an expensive product, and that would be implicit in the design of DX Unified Infrastructure Management. Monitoring is just a small part of it. Sometimes you have to pay a significant amount of money for a complex yet very good solution."
"This product is expensive compared to other vendors (SolarWinds, ManageEngine)."
"Reasonable setup cost and licensing prices."
"The license cost depends on the number of probes and robots."
