Great for data loss prevention and forensic analysis but is more expensive than other options
We provide the solution to the customer. If a client wants to protect data before it leaves the organization, they use this product for DLP.  The solution protects against data leaks across various channels - USB, email, chat, et cetera. They're good at monitoring and protecting.  The solution…

Reasonably priced, blocks everything and can expand
This is our data loss prevention tool. We install it in our AWS instances for our data If a user tries to copy from EC2 Instant to any other devices, it'll block the action. Or, if a user tries to upload any file from EC2 Instance to any block-listed URLs, it'll block that as well. It helps keeps…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Some of the features that are highly appreciated are its robust data loss prevention capabilities, flexible deployment options, and the ability to monitor data transfer across multiple vectors."
"The most valuable feature of Digital Guardian is its reputation. They have scored high on the Gartner Magic Quadrant."
"The technical support is really terrific."
"It has the added advantage of offering forensic analysis."
"The feature we call desktop recording is the most valuable aspect of the solution. Not only can we collect data from the user's usage, but we also capture his screenshots when he is trying to steal the data."
"It has been scalable."
"In Digital Guardian, they have the cloud correlation servers that give you visibility work like EBR and the correlation server works very well for security analysis."
"There is a built-in endpoint detection response that helps save money."
"The tool focuses on endpoints rather than networks. Endpoints cover everything. It wouldn't be possible to steal confidential information from endpoints."
"You can manage your compliance in line with legislation such as GDPR and POPIA."
"The stability of the solution can be good. However, the configuration takes a long time for it to be done properly."
"The most valuable feature is strong data leak prevention for data protection."
"The ability to block all USBs from the McAfee portal has been great."
"The overall features of McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention are very good."
"The solution is stable."
"I am impressed with the tool's firewalls and web protection."

Cons

"The initial setup is a bit more complex than other solutions."
"The solution has complexities around policy creation and deployment."
"It would be helpful if there was an on-premise version of the solution for companies that cannot use the cloud, such as government sectors."
"The room for improvement with Digital Guardian is that it will be better with the Linux agent because it is the only DLP solution for Linux workstations. It still needs to upgrade the agents to the latest version for the Linux kernel."
"If the client uses Windows 10 or 11 and Microsoft updates the operating system's version, Digital Guardian must update their product to match compatibility."
"Technical support could be better."
"Digital Guardian is an excellent solution but our experience with the partner has been the most horrible experience we have ever had with any partner."
"I would like to see the workflow, to get all the rules and policies set up, be less complicated."
"There needs to be support for blocking the sending of files by email because even if you block or remove an external disk, the files are not protected."
"The user interface is messy and could be simplified."
"There are a lot of vulnerabilities and viruses and malware can proliferate."
"The UI needs to be simplified."
"McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention could improve by making the customer aware of the benefits of the solution which would increase the adoption. Additionally, if there were features to suit multi-cloud environments it would be helpful. If the solution can intelligently identify which is important data for the organization and should not be released from the organization without authorization would be a benefit."
"I would like the solution to improve the AI features for anti-virus detection. I also want the software to include a tool for malware detection."
"Technical support doesn't really offer fast response times."
"We faced many issues with the solution's customer support, and it should be made customer-friendly and more responsive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Digital Guardian has both, subscription and perpetual licenses, but I think when everything (all technologies) will go to the cloud they will only offer subscriptions."
"If I compare Digital Guardian with Symantec, the license cost is lower, but McAfee can be cheaper than Digital Guardian. It depends on how many licenses you plan to buy and how big the project is. The cost is not so high as Symantec, but not as cheap as McAfee. They can easily sell the solution for price."
"I rate the solution's pricing an eight out of ten because Digital Guardian is expensive."
"The price of Digital Guardian is expensive."
"The price of Digital Guardian is on the higher end compared to other vendors."
"The cost was around $300,000."
"There is an annual license to use this solution."
"The pricing seems expensive both for the license and the support."
"I'm paying the license for McAfee Total Protection yearly. It could be cheaper, but it's fine."
"If the client purchases the entire suite of McAfee Endpoint, the license is included."
"It's not a cheap option."
"Licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis."
"McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention is an expensive solution."
"I would rate the solution's pricing a six out of ten."
