We performed a comparison between ControlUp and Eggplant Test based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Digital Experience Monitoring (DEM) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."When using ControlUp, the core feature that we have found valuable is its UI. It is a valuable tool to view the analysis reactions of a base core Level 2 or Level 1 team so that they can complete the necessary troubleshooting."
"The script-based actions have allowed us to extend the core reporting capabilities."
"Integration with Netscaler and Scoutbees can provide a proper end-to-end analysis of the user's experience and give us a real ROI."
"It has a great career time monitoring tool."
"The most valuable feature is the granularity of visibility into the resources that are in use by our applications."
"It shows you so many details of what's going on in that log-on that, if there's a problem, you can identify it in five minutes."
"Security, uptime, and reduced capital expenditures are the main reasons we use ControlUp. So basically, the money that we consume is based on the amount of time we are using a service."
"The most valuable features in ControlUp are endpoint monitoring and the many features that are available."
"Good text reading ability."
"Everything is happening on the layout or display that is used by the user. Eggplant prompts processes, like 'click here,' or 'look for this image.' Eggplant makes it possible for QA people and BAs, working in the actual display, to check if the software is providing the right images, the right text, and the right results. They don't have to go inside the code or to the TCP/IP layer. Everything is happening at the highest level."
"The most valuable features would be the image recognition and the OCR."
"The solution is based on a Windows model, where adding users is just a few clicks. It is easy to manage users and add them."
"GUI testing is the strength of the tool. The tool works as expected, and the support response from eggPlant, as a company, has been quick and substantial."
"The main feature of Eggplant Test is that it can do fully automated web testing and app testing."
"The features that we like the most are the developer interface and the ability to quickly develop and deploy tests."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to create code from a flow chart, and then run the code through it."
"It can be improved by including script-based scheduling."
"The most common complaint that I have heard, at least within our organization, is about reporting. They have their own reporting. It's just that it doesn't yet include everything that you can look at within the application. You can only report on specific metrics or collections."
"ControlUp could improve the integration. Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop monitoring has better integration."
"We'd like to see the mobile app working again so that we can get alerts 24/7. This is especially useful for the person on call."
"Solve is a quick and intuitive tool for quickly mapping data together, however, once you have the view of the data that you like, it is difficult to share this with colleagues."
"This solution be improved by including load throttling tools. For example, I can identify a service where we spend a lot of CPU but I cannot restrict the service from ControlUp. I have to use another tool like AppSense."
"Something I would love to see from a partner perspective would be maybe a way to do this in a surface hosting provider."
"The graphical user interface needs to be improved from version to version."
"If one area could be improved, it would be some of their documentation. In particular, some of their online help and user support documentation is a little bit out of date and could be revised and updated on a more frequent basis. Other than that, I haven't really found any issues or problems."
"It has low productivity."
"A step forward would be to have event support, because it is more or less linear at the moment."
"The IDE could be even more full-featured. Because I was a developer, I was very spoiled by either Visual Studio Code or Visual Studio for shortcuts. For example, I was able to say "ctor" and hit Tab and it would create a template of a constructor for me... It would be great, when I want to create a new function, if there were shortcut commands like those that helped create all of the functions, or if there were shortcut features to do any of the complex plans."
"The solution would crash from time to time."
"The language is too specific; it is just for Eggplant."
"We found that we had issues regarding the VPN setup, which is one of the reasons that we did not purchase this solution."
"I would like to see standardized actions already built into Eggplant. For example, "wait eight seconds". That way, I wouldn't need to create it as an action. Right now, I have to program that wait and describe it as an action so that everybody knows it is an action that waits eight seconds... That way, somebody who is not familiar with programming processes like "if-else", or "for", or "while", would be able, from the first moment, and without programming, to put some easy-to-use, standardized, actions in place."
