What is our primary use case?
I have primarily worked with
Oracle Access Manager and
OCI IAM. Most of my projects involve supporting these products, as there are very few projects focused on
Identity Management. We mainly provide support, rather than new implementations or upgrades. I have been involved in client upgrades, migrations, and ongoing projects.
What is most valuable?
I find the MFA and WNA features of
Oracle Access Manager to be impressive. We use OUD, OID product, OHS, and everything else required. I have implemented single sign-on (
SSO) for
ERP, MFA for suppliers, and custom applications to integrate into
SSO. Oracle Access Manager is also highly scalable, which has supported our clients' user base growth effectively.
What needs improvement?
When integrating non-Oracle products with Oracle Access Manager, the process can be quite different and tricky compared to integrating Oracle applications. I suggest Oracle make the integration process for non-Oracle applications as straightforward and easy as it is for Oracle applications.
For how long have I used the solution?
I started working with Oracle Access Manager almost nine years ago in 2016 when I entered Oracle
Identity Management.
What was my experience with deployment of the solution?
Compared to identity management, Oracle Access Manager presents less complexity during deployment. The documentation available from Oracle is very good, making managing, installing, and configuring relatively straightforward.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Oracle Access Manager offers very good technical support, but Identity Management has fewer people available. There are no specific stability issues reported with Oracle Access Manager.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Oracle Access Manager is scalable, particularly concerning single sign-on (SSO). However, it is best suited for scenarios involving more than 100 users, as it may be considered costly for organizations with fewer users.
How are customer service and support?
Oracle Access Manager provides excellent technical support. However, there are very few available resources for Identity Management support.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Comparatively, Oracle Access Manager is not as expensive as Okta. Okta is more expensive and popular for single sign-on solutions, whereas Oracle Access Manager remains a competitive choice.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup of Oracle Access Manager is less complex than other products. The documentation provided by Oracle is excellent, streamlining the management, installation, and configuration processes.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
While Oracle Access Manager is considered expensive, it is competitive compared to products like Okta. Oracle Access Manager requires separate payments for each product, but it may not be suitable for small-scale users like those with 15-20 users due to its cost.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Besides Oracle Access Manager, Okta and Ping Identity are considered in the market for single sign-on solutions.
What other advice do I have?
I rate Oracle Access Manager a nine out of ten. I am a huge fan of Oracle Access Manager, and I would definitely recommend it to organizations. However, Oracle Access Manager should be considered for larger user bases, as it might not be cost-effective for smaller companies. Oracle Access Manager facilitates compliance and meets the requested security requirements effectively.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises
