For example, if I need data about something, I can use Fortra's Automate to scrape data from websites and send detailed reports. Alternatively, I can run a script. It has a good feature called PowerShell, so you can run scripts using PowerShell, or you can even use SQL to extract files and automate those extracting files processes. What it does specifically using PowerShell is run our scripts to scrape data or extract data from our sources, then generate reports for us. If it is an invoice, it can extract data from our clients, then generate an invoice on our behalf.
Fortra's Automate has significantly reduced our manual work. If I can measure it in terms of percentage, it has reduced our manual work by approximately 80%. It performs the tasks where we could otherwise be requiring extra employees. With Fortra's Automate, it has impacted and reduced our manual workflows. The best thing I value about Fortra's Automate is mainly the agents and how they function from both instances. For example, we are currently running around 20 bots or agents. What it does is eliminate the need to do manual work. You just set your workflow, set a schedule and time, such as 'Today at this time, extract this data and send a report to us,' and it can even send emails. I was impressed by that feature, as it can extract something, then generate a report, and send an email to the assigned recipient.
Using Fortra's Automate, the best way to explain it in terms of a technical term is that it is a low-code automation tool. Even someone without technical knowledge about technology or coding can use this platform. It also has event-based triggers. For example, I can set it so that when I receive an email or when I receive a file, it can automate the action according to the event that has happened.

The interface of Fortra's Automate is similar to GoAnywhere. I am not completely pleased with it, although it is intuitive, but it lacks something in terms of complexity. There is still clicking through many items involved.
There are two things I would improve in Fortra's Automate. One is about the interface, as I need it to be improved because it is somewhat complex to navigate. The second is about performance reporting. I want those reports to be customizable. You can generate these reports and see what is happening with error logs, but the customization option is limited. Additionally, there should be an option to export them. Currently, you can export as Excel and PDF, but there is no option to export and send them to your email.

I cannot directly compare them because most of our cases use a hybrid model. I would probably rate Fortra's Automate a seven out of ten. It is adequate unless you are dealing with a very old or legacy system. When we use the automation flow, aside from the technical challenge, it is also about how efficiently the data is handled for that kind of automation. If we plan well and are ready to execute well, Fortra's Automate works quite efficiently, but unless you have enough data like the Gemini side or ChatGPT side, where there is a large company with substantial resources, it is not quite at par as of now.
Fortra's Automate does require maintenance, but it is not at a very high level. It depends on the system or architecture being used; the legacy-based system definitely requires more effort for efficiency and monitoring. With newer technologies and platforms, it is quite manageable, especially when workflows are properly set up and standardized. Fortra's Automate is good for mid-level automation, but others offer more depth and polish. I would say it is 50-50 when comparing UiPath and Fortra's Automate.
Fortra's Automate does require maintenance on my end. Better debugging tools would help significantly. Something more visual or step-by-step would improve usability. Additionally, the UI could use a refresh for responsiveness, and sometimes the tool feels heavy during larger automations, so performance optimization would be beneficial. I would rate this product eight out of ten overall.

My main use case for Automate is to deliver enterprise-scale script execution jobs, which means we are using Automate to connect to over 200 servers and running script jobs on schedule. I am building the workflow from scratch, having enhanced logging capabilities, and enhanced session persistence to give the best output possible and also be able to relate outputs to customers.

In my opinion, the best feature Automate offers is the scheduling. You could build flows anywhere, but when it comes to enterprise-scale and critical workloads, accurate scheduling is very important. If I schedule something for 10:00 AM, it better be done at 10:00 AM. I love looking at my logs to see them align perfectly without missing a beat.
The savings in time by using Automate are significant because it allows me to build one effective flow that serves multiple workloads. Automate positively impacts my organization by delivering great value, especially with critical script execution workflows in telecommunications where there can't be downtime. It's having tremendous value when we are not receiving many escalation calls from customers. The peace of mind I have using Automate for scheduling tasks allows me to focus on other responsibilities without worrying about operational issues.
In my particular use case, for session management, it would be better if I could get a more granular view into connectivity issues to servers. Sometimes, although your flows or tasks are running as scheduled, connecting to the servers can hit a snag without alerts or error logs to check. Some servers might need patching or could be affected by network issues or latency. The workflow sometimes gets stuck without clarity on the errors.
An explicit error report would be helpful, especially when the connection fails unexpectedly. It's complex to analyze problems that might arise from firewall issues or other anomalies that could hinder the flow from executing as expected. The depth of these connection challenges would benefit from better debugging capabilities.
As for improvements, if Automate wasn't designed primarily for script execution, that's understandable. However, for Linux, I would prefer to see less complexity in workflows to achieve a natural completion of scripts. There are features, such as 'wait for terminal output,' that should more intuitively detect completion based on the shell prompt. Improving those aspects would make Automate more efficient for my needs.
Regarding error reporting, I think Automate should offer better error reporting when connecting to servers. Currently, there are many instances where I see empty logs, indicating that, while tasks are scheduled, commands are not executing successfully. This is a significant concern, especially with critical workloads where visibility into errors is essential.

Automate is stable for my needs and is highly scalable, allowing the same workflow to serve numerous tasks effectively.
In terms of customer support, I find them responsive and helpful. I would rate the customer support an 8 out of 10 for being quick and attentive to queries.
Before Automate, our organization was using Control-M for workload management, which I found more simplified and less technical. While I didn't interact with Control-M directly, I appreciate the depth of control Automate provides, allowing for more customized and precise workflows to fulfill operational demands.
I report an overall 85% success rate for my script execution workflows across 200 servers, which is quite impressive given the previous challenges faced with other solutions.
Until now, I have not specified any other tech products except Microsoft Power Automate, N8N, and Make.com that I've had prior experiences with in automation.
It's worth mentioning a smaller feature such as the FTP action, which is practical for easily uploading and downloading files. I appreciate the simplicity and efficiency of that feature, as well as the drag-and-drop capability that reduces intimidation when using Automate.
Automate still has much to offer as we continue to explore its potential. Our company has no formal business relationship with the vendor beyond being a customer, nor was I offered any incentive for this review.

We have been using Automate for approximately one to one and a half years for the automation component.
For complex automation tasks, I have created User Access Review and Security Group Audit implementations. Since I come from a security background, I am using Automate to automate security tasks and repetitive tasks that require fast interaction. When we receive a security alert, there are several playbooks that we must run on the particular activity. We integrated Automate for this automation purpose.
For integration, I am using Automate for cloud automation. The cloud vendor provides access keys and secret keys that we can easily integrate with this application. There is a credential section where we can add passwords and secret keys. Automate provides a credential vault that we use to run AWS CLI and any API calls using those credentials. The integration is very smooth.
Automate's best feature is that we do not need to write any code. We can create our jobs using the drag and drop option available. We only need to provide a command that will run on the servers we have on the cloud platform. Any technical member without coding expertise can use this tool.
Automate's intuitive interface is very smooth. We can easily create jobs for automation. I would suggest it is a good interface that Automate is offering us.
Automate is typically used for RPA, Robotics Process Automation. However, we do not use this tool for RPA because we do not have any IoT project. We integrated Automate with AWS, our cloud provider, for automation tasks. We also have other cloud providers such as GCP and Azure so that we can centralize and manage automation for all cloud providers.
Automate supports cross-cloud platform functionality from AWS to Azure to GCP. It is a very scalable product. We can automate every task across the cloud providers. It is very scalable and versatile software.
Automate could simplify the UI for creating a workflow for automation. As a technical person, I can understand it easily. However, there are few activities in the software that our HR department cannot understand. We integrated the user onboarding process in our environment. When new employees join our company, we created automation so they receive AWS credentials and all their AWS access and cloud access. The automation triggers and creates credentials for the user and sends them via email to the particular user. For that task, HR is not very familiar with the software. However, we can say that this is not part of the HR job because it is a pure technical tool.
For scalability on a scale from one to ten, I would say eight out of ten. We had a few issues with some integrations, possibly due to our lack of knowledge about that, but I would rate it eight out of ten.

Before using Automate, we had internal scripting tools such as our CMDB and other tools. These tools are not cross-platform and do not work on Azure, GCP, and AWS simultaneously. We needed to configure AWS Lambda functions and many functions in GCP for their own cloud platform to perform any automation. Using Automate allows us to centralize all automation and manage it in the same tool so that everyone and all team members have visibility into all automation. It is very easy to access that automation and change it.
Creating one job with Automate is pure technical work. You should have knowledge about AWS. If you have solid knowledge about AWS, you can easily automate the task using Automate. It will take approximately thirty minutes to one hour, including testing and successful deployment of the automation task. Thirty to one hour is typical for normal jobs such as security group auditing.
There are twelve members in our company who work with Automate. Other teams have also used this product, but I do not know the numbers for those other teams. Approximately twelve members from my team work with Automate.
Time saved is the key point that provides the most savings with Automate. We do not need to perform tasks repeatedly and do not need to waste any resources on that particular task. Time and resources are the most significant saving components.
Automate saves approximately fifty percent of effort. We do not need to monitor that automation.
The pricing aspect is covered by my senior, but Automate is a centralized tool, so we do not need to buy different tools for different automation scenarios. We are using this as a centralized tool, so I would say it is very affordable.
We did not use any other vendors. For the previous use case, we had our own scripts that were deployed on the particular cloud providers. I do not have much knowledge about any other vendors or software for similar use cases.
For analytics purposes, we use our own tools for log analysis. That is a different component. For automation analysis and the analytics part, Automate is a good tool to blueprint all the automation.
In my AWS work, we use AWS CLIs and other functions that Automate provides to run commands on the endpoint server. These are the metrics that we use.
There is no improvement needed in the integration part with Automate. There is a very easy way to integrate the credentials and other components. There is no improvement or scope of improvement in the integration part.

The patching part is mainly handled by the IT team. We did not face any issues in the past about patches and updates. We can say it is easy for them.

I would recommend Automate to other users because it is a centralized tool for cloud automations and security orchestration. We have a small tool that performs specific tasks such as data collection, auditing, scheduling start and stop operations, and similar functions. In a centralized manner, we can use it across the cloud providers we have. In my organization, we have several cloud providers including GCP accounts, Azure accounts, and AWS, which we use most frequently. We use Automate to automate tasks across all these providers. My overall rating for Automate is nine out of ten.

The best features in Fortra's Automate include centralized job orchestration and reliable scheduling, along with role-based security and audit trails, which I value the most about this product.
The intuitive interface is a good website where both beginners and experts can use it with ease, and the visibility and reliability of all the parts are good for this platform.
I assess the error-handling capabilities with complex automation tasks as robust, thanks to the built-in connectors that reduce the need for custom scripting. I use good logging and error handling capability to easily diagnose failures.
The improvements I have seen using this solution are that licensing and scaling cost can be the main consideration as I add more agents and enterprise features, which is a great thing for me. The role-based security and audit trails are useful for compliance, helping me in that area, and the low-code flow designers enable non-developers to build and read flows quickly, assisting in this part.
Areas that have room for improvement in Fortra's Automate include that advanced transformations sometimes require custom scripts, as the pure no-code option is limited. Additionally, some connectors may need configuration work or updates for new product versions.
