We performed a comparison between Arcserve UDP and Veeam Backup & Replication based on our users’ reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: The main difference between the two products is that Veeam users say the pricing is high. In this comparison, Arcserve UDP comes out on top.
"It is very stable."
"The most valuable features are the replication to the cloud and the deduplication."
"The most valuable feature of StorageCraft ShadowProtect is the speed and the compression of the backups. The compressed backed-up files do not take up as much storage. Additionally, the incremental backups can be done in one minute and be backed up on a disc very fast."
"The most valuable feature of Arcserve UDP is live replication."
"Instant recovery is the most valuable feature of Arcserve UDP."
"Our customers are happy with the product’s functionality."
"The most valuable features are that it is able to restore quickly and that it is able to virtually restore on Hyper-V."
"The solution has no limitations because it does backup for Linux and Windows."
"Enables us to restore the VM when the needs arises and for disaster recovery."
"It is a global major solution for quite a lot of people."
"I enjoy the ability to quickly search for VMs through the Veeam console."
"Before Veeam, we had backup infrastructure sprawl. Veeam was able to reduce our overall backup windows while reducing our dedicated backup infrastructure."
"Vendor integration for many of the enterprise features have allowed for us to have greater performance from our storage vendors further improving on our commitments to protect our clients' data."
"WAN Accelerator helps tremendously with replicating our data because we have a large chunk of data that gets replicated between our two facilities."
"We get a lot of features with Veeam and we are happy to use this solution. After shutdown, the servers here automatically turn off and Veeam is keeping up all this. It's tension free work."
"I can't think of any improvements yet for Veeam because they are very good. It integrates very well with Microsoft applications. It is very easy to integrate. Micro Focus can also integrate but it's more complex. You have to know the product very well to be able to integrate. While Veeam, it's very user-friendly. You don't need to have certifications or anything to work on Veeam."
"The speed of restores should be improved. We have found the speed of large restores rather slow."
"Licensing can be quite difficult."
"A lot of their new technologies are not very good."
"It should be easier to switch between backup locations. We have multiple data storage locations and sometimes one of those storages need to be replaced. It would be nice if they made it easier to reconfigure the backup configuration."
"The solution could improve by being more user-friendly. It can be difficult to assign destinations and choose which files and folders we need to back up. There are some aspects that are unclear."
"Backups are very slow and time consuming."
"StorageCraft ShadowProtect can improve by making one console that can control backups of all desktops and servers in one place. Additionally, the recovery process of the backups is very slow and could improve. It's very slow when we went to recover a complete disc but to recover one file is very fast."
"The problem is just reliability. If the promises in the marketing material were realized in real life, it would be the perfect solution, but it's just the reliability issues."
"When in a domain, the virus can easily attack the Veeam server, something which happened to us."
"I would like to see the replication and a recovery plan of the servers in the cloud. It's very important."
"They need to improve their technical side."
"It is efficient but can improve security-wise."
"It needs to support more applications. In terms of supported applications, Oracle SQL and Office 365 are supported, but I am not sure if it supports Linux-based applications. That's why I'm looking for an alternative. I am currently testing Commvault. The advantage of Commvault is that a lot of applications are supported with it. I am not sure if CIFS is currently supported. It would be nice to have this feature in case it is not already supported"
"The documentation and communication could be better in Veeam Backup Replication."
"I have used NetBackup. For heavy workloads or if I need consistent backup and restore, I prefer NetBackup over Veeam Backup Replication."
"The solution needs more detailed reporting."

Hi!
I can send you comparision documents if you would like but as Kevin mentioned, first it is good to know the exact needs and specification you or your company expects from Backup solution.
Kind regards
Szabolcs
I can only vouch for Veeam which we use in a 100% virtualised environment. for us it's perfect, we run backup locally and replication to a remote datacentre. we can recover individual files or whole VM's. we can spin up recovered VM's in a sandbox environment. we've just started to play with restore to Azure as well. licencing in on a per host basis, we use it for both VMware and Hyper-V vm's. I hope this is of some help to you?
I second Kevin's remark. It is almost impossible to compare various backup solutions without knowing your environment. Are you backing up exclusively Windows, Windows and Linux, do you have Novell, minicomputer and the list goes on. Why type of backup hardware are you using, WORM, Tape Drive, Tape Autochanger..... And I have not even touched the functions you want the backup to do.
The field about Backup is very big , I am a partner from Acronis , and Acronis has many advantage ,over others tecnology , but in specifics skills , another Marks have theirs improvement skills too , you must specific about what ? Virtualization, storage, management, recovery virtual to physical ? is a lot information to say ..

Thank you so much Everyone for your Suggestions..
