We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I've reimaged servers and been back up and running in exactly no time with the completely new hardware.""The licensing model is very good.""From my perspective, the most valuable features in Acronis Cyber Protect include ransomware protection and antivirus. These features not only add significant value but also play a crucial role in closing deals. When selling backup for Microsoft 365, these security features, like ransomware protection and antivirus, serve as a starting point to offer backup and protection.""The solution has all the features I need and user friendly.""This is a full software so deployment time is very quick.""Universal Restore is valuable to us.""Our customers can backup to local storage and they can back up or replicate to the cloud.""The most valuable feature is the extra protection, especially for the backup."

"The product's deployment process was straightforward.""The most valuable features are that it is able to restore quickly and that it is able to virtually restore on Hyper-V.""The data protection functionality is the most valuable feature of this solution.""We are satisfied with Arcserve UDP. The most important feature that we use and why we choose this product is the RHA feature.""The most valuable features are the replication to the cloud and the deduplication.""The recovery part of the product is very good.""The interface is very refined, works fine, and is very intuitive most of the time. Scalability is nice. The multi-tenancy feature is very welcome. The integration with Linux works fine too.""The most valuable feature of Arcserve UDP is the initiative UI and the logs are clear and detailed that are generated when there has been an issue or failure on the user's system. We only have to log onto the client's system to retrieve the information. It is possible to precisely identify the problem's location. The system categorizes and logs every step in a structured manner, selectively displaying only the essential logs. However, to view a comprehensive log, one must access the line machine log and examine the actual client for detailed logging."

Cons
"The backing up of virtual machines in VMware and Nutanix needs better integration and the performance of the solution needs improvement.""Some of the default settings out-of-the-box should already be set up for the novice user. For instance, the warnings that say a hard drive has bad sectors and stops the backup from performing.""It supports Microsoft SQL and Microsoft Exchange, but it does not support Oracle databases or Postgres.""It would be better if they made it easier to obtain images for laptops and desktops. It isn't easy right now to have many different types of desktop computers. This is because Microsoft is changing a lot of things in Windows 10.""For smaller companies it's a little more challenging to maintain.""I would like to have more cybersecurity integration to properly round up the product and its offering. In terms of cybersecurity, if the offerings can be more versatile so that it is not just a backup solution, it would be great. Some addition to cybersecurity would really be helpful so that it becomes a kind of a suite of products. Backup and recovery form a part of the broader security strategy. Its integration with other cybersecurity solutions would provide proper visibility to not just your cybersecurity dashboard but also to all of your backups. You would have a pretty good view of the entire security landscape that you are managing.""I've had some issues with the understandability of the interface. I think if they had someone with expertise in user interfaces to look at this, they could clean up the user interface.""One improvement that could be made is adding the option to download files in a PST format when doing a 365 or Google Cloud to cloud backup."

More Acronis Cyber Protect Cons →

"The solution's reporting could be improved and should provide customized reports.""The speed of restores should be improved. We have found the speed of large restores rather slow.""It should be easier to switch between backup locations. We have multiple data storage locations and sometimes one of those storages need to be replaced. It would be nice if they made it easier to reconfigure the backup configuration.""The solution can use a lot of bandwidth when the scheduling is not done, it should auto-schedule itself. For example, if there are 50 users connected in the network at 12 o'clock and the backup is not scheduled. At this time the network offices are going to have performance issues when it is doing a backup. Having a feature to auto-schedule a time when the network is not being used often would be beneficial.""The product is not user-friendly.""I had an issue with Arcserve UDP during the failover and the secondary machine didn't get back online, even though it ran automatically. I faced the issue during a crisis situation. However, I haven't faced such a problem again.""I think that the price could still be a bit cheaper and I do not like that they have been purchased by Arcserve.""The time to backup servers that sit in DMZ must be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

  • "I would say that at the pricepoint that it's at, it's definitely worth the money."
  • "It has already paid off itself in the first few months that we implemented it."

  • "Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis."
  • "The pricing is comparable to the newest solution available on the market, Altaro."

  • "We only have the maintenance of three standard UDP licenses. Each license is 50 Euro. There are some additional costs for the storage and software but it has nothing to do with the UDP."
  • "Normally our customers purchase the premium plus license, rather than the standard one, which provides more options."
  • "The price of this product is high and it should be lower."
  • "It is approximately $400 to purchase a virtual service outright."
  • "There is an annual license required for this solution and it is priced well."
  • "Pricing is most likely comparable."
  • "The retail fee is $1300 for a year for one server. Other than that, there is just the cost of your hardware."

I agree with @Syed Abid Hussain

Arcserve is a true DR / Ransomware enabled solution for all businesses and when compared apples to apples to other solutions, very affordable.  It is available in cloud, hybrid cloud and appliance, your choice.  Use the cloud solution and keep what you have if you like, or replace it all with ARCSERVE.

Is it good? I think it is underrated personally. Arcserve just received PC Editors choice, which isn't too shabby.  I've worked with Arcserve for a while and it is a "SET AND FORGET" solution when configured properly. I also know many who use it who only have issues due to misconfiguring the software. Never place it directly on your domain is a starter suggestion.

    Arcserve gives you:

    • Global deduplication

    • Direct-to-cloud backup

    • WAN-optimized replication

    • Agentless backup for VMware and Hyper-V

    • Backup of CIFS/NFS

    • Cross-platform Virtual Standby and Recovery

    • P2P, P2V, V2P and V2V migration

      What doesn't Acronis do?

    • It does not have integrated DR and backup appliances,

    • Not secured from ransomware and malware (Arcserve uses SOPHOS)

    • Limited to no tape support for devices

    • No agentless Nutanix AHV backup and support of Nutanix Objects

    • No support for Solaris / IBM AIX / HP-UX / FreeBSD / IBM System z

    • No SLA/RTO/RPO reports

    • Doe not have continuous availability and CDP

    • No Email archiving

So it truly depends upon what you are really looking for in a solution. I hope this helps.

Acronis is good but with very limited features also expensive.

Arcserve has more features like Integrated DR, ransomware security, malware detection. different backups support, multiple hardware support. Also, pricing is lower than Acronis.

if you need just backup service Acronis is good while Arcserve UDP is a full-fledged complete suite for small, medium & large-scale businesses.
