Enabling efficient management with quick deployment and cost-effective solutions while needing improved support
I assess the value of Arcserve Backup's integration with multiple operating systems to be effective only for deploying the agent, as we deploy the agent and take the backup from the backup server only. I face no issues in terms of integration with Arcserve Backup. I do use Arcserve Backup's deduplication and compression features. These features help optimize storage resources by erasing duplicate data from the storage, so if we have two or three TB storage, it will take backup around three to four months. Regarding the disaster recovery feature of Arcserve Backup, we only do a simple one server disaster recovery feature. In terms of hybrid deployment scenarios, we have mostly done this in a Windows environment, with a small amount done in Linux. On a scale from one to ten, I rate Arcserve Backup a nine.

Cost savings and efficient decompression but needs better cloud integration
Our primary use case for Arcserve UDP is its decompression feature, which helped us save money by reducing storage needs. Despite moving to cloud applications, we have been using Arcserve UDP for backup and disaster recovery Arcserve UDP has helped our organization save considerable amounts of…

Pros

"Arcserve Backup positively impacts the organization by providing a simple managed backup solution that is not complex, making it easy to manage and configure; that is the best feature I can describe."
"Arcserve Backup positively impacts the organization by providing a simple managed backup solution that is not complex, making it easy to manage and configure; that is the best feature I can describe."
"Easy restoration and the solution works quickly."
"The most valuable features are the replication to the cloud and the deduplication."
"The most valuable feature of Arcserve UDP is the initiative UI and the logs are clear and detailed that are generated when there has been an issue or failure on the user's system. We only have to log onto the client's system to retrieve the information. It is possible to precisely identify the problem's location. The system categorizes and logs every step in a structured manner, selectively displaying only the essential logs. However, to view a comprehensive log, one must access the line machine log and examine the actual client for detailed logging."
"It is a very stable solution...It is a scalable solution."
"Arcserve has a feature called virtual standby (VSB), which has been very helpful because I already have a hot standby copy of my critical infrastructure. If something breaks, I can spin up that virtual standby copy in less than five minutes and ensure that my data is available to everyone and that business continuity is maintained."
"The ability to switch between different hardware platforms and utilization tools are some of this solution's most valuable features."
"The product provides instant and virtual standbys."
"One of the things that I do like about it is that it has a very good deduplication feature."

Cons

"I have noticed that support needs to improve in Arcserve Backup."
"I have noticed that support needs to improve in Arcserve Backup."
"One area for improvement in Arcserve UDP is its capability to interact with other cloud servers."
"I don't know whether the tool has VMware integrations. It would be good to cover this area if it doesn't have those."
"The product is not user-friendly."
"Arcserve UDP is in the middle range of complexity. The interface can be developed a little bit more to be user-friendly."
"The tool doesn't provide cloud integration in India."
"StorageCraft ShadowProtect can improve by making one console that can control backups of all desktops and servers in one place. Additionally, the recovery process of the backups is very slow and could improve. It's very slow when we went to recover a complete disc but to recover one file is very fast."
"The only problem with the solution is that when I change the drive capacity, it has to do a full backup. It's a problem when I have five servers to backup. When I only want to change the size of the drive, I have to do a full backup that can take one week."
"One of the biggest drawbacks of Arcserve UDP is that it does not have a single console, making it an area that needs to be considered for improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is not very expensive, but it is not cheap."
"We only have the maintenance of three standard UDP licenses. Each license is 50 Euro. There are some additional costs for the storage and software but it has nothing to do with the UDP."
"The retail fee is $1300 for a year for one server. Other than that, there is just the cost of your hardware."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a four or five out of ten."
"Its price seems reasonable. Its price is average as compared to the other products I've looked at. We have a three-year license right now. There are no other costs beyond the standard licensing fee."
"The pricing of the product can be considered to be reasonable enough for the Asian region."
"The licensing cost is for one year. There are not any hidden costs involved in the pricing model of the solution."
"In comparison to other vendors, it is a low-cost solution."
