Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Frees up employee time but can't run when computer system is locked
Something that could be improved is that this solution can't run when the computer is locked, which meant we had to implement it in our own on-prem server as it never auto-locks. It would be better if, when we have scheduled a scenario, it would log into the system automatically.

Automates browsing tasks without needing a server connection
I have worked with Microsoft Power Platform and UiPath. Kofax RPA offers a comprehensive solution with built-in capabilities for executing tasks like running Excel files and web automation without additional servers. They provide their browsers and extensions. For functions such as OCR, image processing, and data extraction, Kofax has built-in features powered by their engine, eliminating the need for subscriptions to external technologies like Microsoft Cognitive Services or Google Search. One of Kofax RPA's strongest features is its on-premise solution, which is particularly beneficial for organizations operating in regions with data regulations, such as the UAE.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It removes demotivating, repetitive work from our teams."
"Automation Anywhere has significantly helped us achieve our automation goals, mainly by reducing costs, which alleviates organizational burdens."
"From a manageability perspective, this solution is very good."
"We have automated that complete process of code review. The bot is solving the problem of ensuring the compliance of reviewing code. People use to generally skip the code review process, because it was exhaustive. Bots can review the complete standards of the code, whatever is there, ensuring the compliance and eventually saving time."
"This solution allows us to more fully automate our clients' specific tools."
"The robust and flexible nature of the product gives it the capability to automate almost all rule-based processes in each and every ERP application that is currently available in the market."
"We have increased our productivity by five times as of now, and we are still growing."
"If we talk about the automation RPA, it definitely has worked very well for us, giving good savings of more than 180 FTEs after implementing more than 200 plus bots."
"NTT-AT WinActor has allowed our employees to focus on other things rather than the repetitive tasks that can now be given to the robot."
"The tool's most valuable feature is data import. The OCR feature helps to recognize the data. It can recognize screen and document numbers well."
"This software is very smart - it can decide from a picture if we like that condition, and then the robot will do that action."
"The product provides end-to-end solutions for different business problems."
"It is stable and scalable."
"The solution is really good and it's rather budget-friendly."
"The best part of Kofax is that they have a whole concept; it's one product, but also has extra elements that can be integrated, and if you take the whole package with the extra products you can digitize it using RPA and also by using the other products they provide."
"The solution is scalable."
"The end user only has to click once to preserve the entire email conversation."
"The OCR was quite stable and flexible."
"We use Kofax effectively and I'm happy with it."

Cons

"The areas for room for improvement are always going to be around experience, making it even easier to get engaged, and get started. Because lowering that threshold to get started is what enables an additional set of problems to be solved."
"In terms of improvements for Automation Anywhere, I would prefer to see more options in packages and pricing, including a breakdown of different features and products, which would allow us to select certain products while potentially skipping others as needed."
"Automation Anywhere is one of the least stable RPA tools out of the top five RPA solutions."
"Now, it is a big complex to download the product and install it, then again to install the patches. So, it takes a lot of time to download it."
"When we are moving from one version to another version, it's very difficult because most of the features stop working."
"I feel a lack of convenience when I try to scale it."
"The product is not totally stable."
"IQ Bot does have some limitations."
"Something that could be improved is that this solution can't run when the computer is locked, which meant we had to implement it in our own on-prem server as it never auto-locks."
"The OCR has issues recognizing handwritten data."
"The product has some constraints and performance issues."
"The solution could use some AI integrated features."
"For additional features, I'd like to see a recording function and a more simple interface."
"Concatenation of error messages."
"Exception handling needs to be improved."
"The negative side is that UiPath has a really large community on the RPA side, and Tungsten RPA doesn't have any community for the developer side, which is a red flag for us and for customers."
"There is really nothing special about the capabilities of this product."
"I would like to see them further enhance the OCR, specifically in the multi-language support."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We're just starting to renew our license, and we were quoted $115,000 without the IQ Bot. The IQ Bot is another $30,000. This is with very limited pages, as we go through our first projects. The majority of the cost was for ten days of onsite training."
"The product’s pricing is reasonable."
"Approximately, for a developer, it is around $750 for a license a year. For Bot Runners, it is about $550."
"Subscription for Automation Anywhere (AA) is paid yearly."
"I feel the cost of licensing is very high for the A2019 version."
"We have saved time and money using this solution."
"They are already coming out with a community license, which is really good. That's something that I wish to have."
"It saves on the quality of work, because the quality can be bad when somebody's doing it. If a bot does the work, it's faster and comes with good quality. These are two important things along with the cost saving in the long run. That's where the value is."
"We pay yearly for the agent who runs the processes, plus an additional fee for maintenance costs."
"I give the price of the solution a six out of ten."
"There is a standard license needed to use Kofax RPA and the price is reasonable."
"Price is not a problem, because they are a competitor and we have a special rate."
"I don't have complete insight at this point in time, but I would guess that Kofax is a lot less expensive than Automation Anywhere. I would expect its license to be on a yearly basis."
"Kofax RPA is moderately priced but expensive in comparison to UiPath and Power Automate."
"Kofax RPA's licensing costs are yearly and expensive."
"Its pricing is reasonable given the product capabilities. Kofax has a wide range of products, and it can sometimes be confusing to understand which capabilities come with which product set. One of the key facets that we've been looking into recently is cognitive document recognition that was a core pile of some of their other technologies such as Kofax transformation modules (KTM)."
"The cost depends on the number of licenses and the number of RPAs."
