Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The management software that runs in the cloud is called InfoSight and it is very good. It is similar to machine learning software that monitors your hardware.""The deployment is fast.""HPE Nimble Storage uses the InfoSight platform and it is useful because we can identify the faults and can analyze the performance. It has many other features. This feature is the best that I have observed from HPE Nimble Storage.""The most valuable feature is the management of Nimble Storage, InfoSight. This is like a cloud. That's really a very nice feature. I think that's the only reason to buy Nimble Storage.""HPE Nimble Storage is quick to release updates that fix bugs or problems and the failover has been good.""It is easy to use. Not too complicated.""This product is very easy to set up.""The deduplication and compression capabilities are powerful."

"The technology of Nutanix Acropolis AOS is the most valuable feature. You don't need multiple screens to manage.""One of the most valuable features of Nutanix is that it's easy to use. I love this solution—it's easy to maintain and update, and I think it's almost perfect.""The initial setup is straightforward.""I have found the solution to be stable.""The most valuable features of Nutanix Acropolis AOS are ease of management, hyper-convergence platform, and it has robust operations.""Acropolis has a great interface and lots of management features packaged with it at an affordable price.""Most beneficial feature is simplicity, ease of use.""The most valuable feature is the integration of all parts in Prism Element, the browser-based management tool."

Cons
"Pure Storages have some option, which allows us the ability to directly download that host inventory and volume report. We can receive everything directly generated from the storage itself. We do not need to use some other web browser or something. If HPE Nimble Storage could do the same it would be a benefit.""I think the scalability of HPE Nimble Storage could be improved.""When we’re setting up the solution, making options available regarding the replication tool mechanism would be ideal.""The quality of technical support depends on which member of the support team you speak with.""The solution could improve by having more granularity. For example, having the ability to go deeper into specific IO channels or specific latency issues that can happen would be a benefit. HPE has this ability on their side but it would be useful to have it on our side.""In the future, I would like to see a lower-end model that has Peer Persistence functionality.""The solution needs to be an active-active controller.""The most difficult part about Nimble was the fact that it didn't have a standard length."

More HPE Nimble Storage Cons →

"In terms of what I would like to see improved, I would say the life cycle management. I don't know if it is because they changed to an LCM from the previous way of upgrading the hardware or software but sometimes it feels that it needs a wizard that says, "Check this, check this," telling you your options. The only thing that's a bit frustrating for me is the life cycle management interface. That's the only thing on the entire system that frustrates me.""It would be ideal if it was more secure.""Limits on increasing space with the inability to have or attach external storage.""It would be great if they could improve the GUI features.""In the future, I would like Acropolis to add support for publishing external storage.""As Nutanix Acropolis AOS is on the expensive side, one of its areas for improvement is the price. It would also be better if it can be integrated with other cloud providers, because currently, it's only for private cloud deployment.""It is a CentOS-based operating system, but CentOS releases security patches almost every week or every other week. However, Nutanix releases their upgrade at three or four month intervals. According to my organization's SLA, if a critical patch is released during that time, then I need to implement the patches within 30 days. If it is a standard patch, then I need to patch it within 60 days. Since that is my SLA, I cannot meet my SLA for security because Nutanix will not release the upgrade within these 30 days. Between the critical patch release and the Nutanix release, my customers say they are vulnerable and I am accepting the risk while the SLA is breached.""I would enjoy an advanced mode where experienced users can leverage their knowledge to do advanced things currently only allowed using the command line tools on the CVM."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I would classify it as an expensive product."

  • "We pay a one-time fee for terabyte licenses, and the support is paid yearly."
  • "There is a one-time price for hardware, and with the software support, everything is included, such as software upgrades. The licensing of the solution is included in the cost of the hardware and the support is an extra cost. We have purchased support on an annual basis, but you can purchase support up front for up to seven years. We usually buy five years and near the time of the expiry, we sometimes extend it."
  • "HPE Nimble Storage is more expensive than some of the other solutions, such as Pure Storage. They charge more for every feature than other vendors."
