Helps us provide visibility into network performance, capacity planning, and cost analysis
Better support and more accessible resources are crucial. Customers have expressed that support is not as flexible, and it is difficult to obtain necessary information quickly. Customers would benefit from improved training material for integration with other products. The solution's pricing is high and needs to be reconsidered, and the technical support should improve to provide more accessible and open information.

A user-friendly solution that is easy to install and improves visibility
I would like to see improvements made to the user guide. From my personal experience, it is helpful to see a list of steps describing what to do next in different situations. An example is what to do and what to back up in the case of certain types of failure. There are also cases where a customer can't understand specific features. Enhancements to the user guide would be helpful for this. More features for network fragmentation would be helpful.

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Since we have gone live, it has been extremely stable."
"Provides a comprehensive monitoring solution for our open systems and also the mainframe."
"It provides us with great detailed information that can be easily reported and delivered to customers."
"Technical Support: The UIM support team is excellent."
"Another division handed us the opportunity to monitor their solutions as written, and UIM was very useful for that."
"If you have a highly disparate estate across old and new technologies, Nimsoft is the only realistic in-house answer, prior to considering the customisation of open source alternatives."
"Great out-of-the-box capability."
"It is the foundation for our monitoring solution."
"The generation of KPI-like information that feeds to the nGeniusONE (management) server is the most valuable feature."
"One of the valuable features is the packet decoding."
"vSTREAM gives us better visibility and reporting about our network infrastructure, allowing for cost-optimization."
"Sometimes it took a month to troubleshoot something that we can now do within days."
"vSTREAM gives us better visibility and reporting about our network infrastructure, allowing for cost-optimization."

Cons

"One of the biggest areas to improve would be the training aspect."
"A lot of the admin is web-based. Having the web-admin portal be a bit more scalable and adding the feature of responsive decision-making process, it would be of benefit to us and I’m sure to others as well."
"The main complaint with the tool is we are attempting to migrate off of SCOM and the management packs that SCOM has for Exchange (ED and SharePoint) it does not look like UIM and can't necessarily compete with those."
"Stability."
"Customer Service: 8/10. Technical Support: 6/10."
"Customer Service: Poor when compared to other CA groups I have worked with. Technical Support: First line - excellent. Getting beyond first line - a battle."
"It requires a very skilled team to be able to deploy that application, and if you don’t invest in training and don’t go over a long training period, you might find it difficult to deploy."
"One of the things I would like to see an improvement on is the ability to do mass deployment."
"The stability is okay, but sometimes we see that the memory on the server is not 100 percent correct and we need to stop and start the software to have it reallocated again."
"I would say that this is not a scalable solution."
"Room for improvement exists in filtering in the packet decode."
"I would like for it to have a smaller footprint of the virtual appliance and better performance."
"I would like for it to have a smaller footprint of the virtual appliance and better performance."
"I would like to see improvements made to the user guide."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product-price ratio is better than other brands such as Fortinet or SonicWall."
"Pricing for DX Unified Infrastructure Management isn't cheap at all. It's a complex tool, so you have to pay more. No one is happy with a large bill to pay, but if it's a complex product and you designed a complex solution to be monitored, it'll be your fault that you need to buy an expensive product, and that would be implicit in the design of DX Unified Infrastructure Management. Monitoring is just a small part of it. Sometimes you have to pay a significant amount of money for a complex yet very good solution."
"This product is expensive compared to other vendors (SolarWinds, ManageEngine)."
"Reasonable setup cost and licensing prices."
"CAD $400,000 annually."
"The license cost depends on the number of probes and robots."
"Licensing is quite expensive."
