We performed a comparison between DD Boost and Dell PowerProtect DD (Data Domain) based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Deduplication Software solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Data Domain Boost has a unique protocol. I don't think with other vendors you get the same efficiency. I work with some the other products, but this solution has amazing efficiency in comparison."
"Overall, scalability is great."
"The solution is very easy to manage. That's its most valuable feature."
"Scalable and stable solution for backup purposes, with good encryption and huge data conversion features."
"The most valuable feature is the support for plug-ins."
"DD Boost's best features are deduplication and compression."
"I like the tool set, it's easy to work on and the support is brilliant."
"This product's unique protocol make it superior to competing products and alternate solutions."
"The solution is very scalable."
"I like the different features. We work closely with Dell on different products and features, which is why we use them all."
"Its pricing is not overly expensive."
"As our organization functions, we have a total of 2500+ primary sites and 6300+ secondary sites. All of our entire backup systems are totally dependent on this product. EMC Data Domain is very reliable and there are no issues using it since 2015."
"The tool's performance is very good. DD Boost can improve its performance and backup."
"The stability is excellent."
"It is very fast as compared to the other competitors. Its simplicity and bit rate are also valuable. It takes less time if we compare it with the old solution that we have."
"The most valuable features of Dell PowerProtect DD are ease of use and deduplication."
"My customer was interested in ransomware protection. Currently, Dell offers the Cyber Vault solution, which is separate from Data Domain. Ideally, ransomware protection would be integrated directly within DD Boost, without requiring an additional out-of-the-box solution. This feature is currently available with HPE's Zerto and Huawei's Ocean Protect with third-party products like PradoNet. While Cyber Vault exists as a separate solution from Data Domain, having some standard protection for immutable backups into DD Boost would be a valuable addition and make it more competitive with other vendors."
"DD Boost's technical support could be better."
"The main issue I've identified is that when backing up a final backup from the branch server, we don't have deduplication functionality."
"Connectivity with the cloud and on-premises needs improved gateways."
"The solution needs to be more user-friendly for the end-users."
"It should be expanded to include other databases and software. It should also be made easier to restore."
"The product has low capacity."
"Integration could be better."
"They still have hardware different from the software."
"EMC is very expensive for small customers."
"The price of the product is high."
"Its management can be improved."
"The pricing could be better, but it's still not too expensive."
"DD doesn't have Intel's air gap technology."
"Dell PowerProtect DD (Data Domain) is expensive. Also, it has a sort of a big physical footprint that data domains have, and that's part of the problem."
"The downside of PowerProtect's flexibility is that you have so many options. It can be a little confusing. It's like having a car with too many buttons on the dash. You can do so much with it, but it takes some time to learn what everything does."
