Enhancing backup and recovery operations and accelerating backup and restore processes while seamlessly integrating with various backup software applications
In our current production environment, we are using Data Domain for both primary and NDR, and we are planning to replace the VINs. Our focus has mainly been on improving data transfer rates, particularly for decision-making and data transfer efficiency Operationally, we are satisfied as there…

Great support, good reliability, and can expand as needed
We would implement the solution for clients.  The solution is stable.  It is scalable.  Technical support has been great. They could improve the interface a bit. It's not as good as it could be.  I've been using the solution for six to seven years.  The product is quite stable and reliable.…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Overall, scalability is great."
"We can retain the data for a pretty long time."
"The dependable protocol and stability of DD Boost are its most valuable characteristics. We encountered no connectivity issues when connecting the backup appliance to DD Boost, and we received no customer complaints about this aspect. Primarily, the smooth communication and connectivity between the server and storage were the main strengths."
"Very stable solution."
"The tool's deployment was easy."
"This product's unique protocol make it superior to competing products and alternate solutions."
"The solution can scale."
"The solution is quite scalable. An organization shouldn't have any problem expanding if they use this solution."
"The solution uses minimal resources."
"We mainly use Windows for all our operating systems. Our databases are SQL databases. For backups, we set up one master server and three process servers. Our company isn't big, so this setup works well for us. We install the Veritas NetBackup Appliance agent on all the systems that need to be backed up."
"If you use the NetBackup Appliance you do not need to have separate media servers and hardware. You can configure the same storage as a media server and master server as well as a storage port. This helps to reduce the hardware costs of the media server."
"The tool is easy to use, stable, and performs well, but it depends on the environment where it is deployed. It is leaning more toward huge enterprises where it is positioned. It needs to be as easy as others but addresses more complex requirements."
"The policy-based backup feature is very helpful."
"It is very capable of scaling and very good for heterogeneous environments."
"They are a large company with good best practices, and they give good support."
"The most valuable features of Veritas NetBackup Appliance are the ease of use and the familiar interface."

Cons

"The multi-tier functionality can be improved, but it is quite good. They could improve replication and perhaps support additional sharing network protocols. I would also like to see better implementation of NFS Version 3, but it is already implemented and quite usable as it is."
"By default, the password of DD Boost expires in thirty days"
"The experience of restoring VMware or Veeam Backup is difficult, when the backup you are using is a solution for backup, which is already having a deduplication. When you try to restore from Data Domain, it doesn't work perfectly, because Data Domain is already having a deduplication as well."
"The solution needs a better gateway between the on-premises and cloud deployment models. We have to work around it or find a third party to assist."
"The solution could improve by adding more flexibility for the customers here in Thailand. Some of the small capacity models of the solution are not needed by our customers. There should be a more flexible version of the solution."
"The product has low capacity."
"The solution could always be cheaper."
"DD Boost is a bit expensive."
"Depending on the setup structure, it can be complex to implement."
"The solution could improve by providing more integration and security."
"The only drawback for NetBackup, and of course for Veritas, is that they have stuck to the same environment and to the same UI - User Interface. This needs to be improved in future releases. It needs to be more dynamic."
"The monitoring could be a bit better."
"The reporting feature can be improved."
"More licensing options could be introduced to the software. It is currently based on capacity only. Compared to competitors, it is difficult to position it economically everywhere. From the usability point of view, they are making many improvements on new interfaces, the SaaS offering, etc."
"The price needs to be improved because it is really expensive."
"It would be a better solution if we were able to make more reports in regards to the backup system."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is a need to make yearly payments towards the licensing charges attached to the product. The price of the product is on a higher scale, meaning not everybody can afford it."
"The cost is monthly."
"DD Boost's price is good for its features."
"The pricing is high compared to the competition and should be reconsidered."
"The hardware platform is cost intense, so for small and mid-range, this product is not the best choice."
"My company must pay approximately 10,000 USD annually, making it an expensive product."
"We scale this product by adding licenses, which are related to capacity."
"The pricing is competitive when compared to other vendors."
"We pay annually. It is a huge figure for us."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is a high price and ten is a low price, I rate the pricing a nine."
"Renewing subscriptions for appliance support is costly."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is a high price, and ten is a low price, I rate the solution's pricing an eight."
"I rate the tool's pricing an eight out of ten."
"The licensing costs are approximately 150,00 Saudi Riyals."
"It costs more to license support for this solution, compared to others."
"The solution is not cheap"
