Effective project management and organization streamline task allocation
I feel that Codebeamer's workflow engine is working fine for me as of now, but there are better tools than Codebeamer available. Codebeamer is an old tool, and newer tools such as Jira offer a more appealing user interface. Codebeamer's UI is somewhat boring, while Jira's is more exciting and user-friendly. Other than the user interface, I would to see improvements in Codebeamer as it appears boring. The UI has been the same for a long time, and they haven't changed anything in that regard. It should be more colorful and interactive, and easier to navigate. When I initially used Jira before coming to this company, transitioning to Codebeamer felt challenging for someone unfamiliar with it. Compared to Jira, Codebeamer can be difficult for a layperson to understand.

Has provided mature traceability and configuration features while supporting complex product development for mid-to-large companies
Polarion ALM can learn from Atlassian tools a lot, as the usability is not the best, and it is really narrowly focused on requirements management only. For example, if you want to do testing and test result management with it, it is very limited. Jama Connect has similar limitations, and both should really focus on developing the integrations and extendability. For example, Jama Connect does not even have an extension marketplace, whereas Polarion has a small one. However, compared to the Atlassian Marketplace where you can get whatever applications for whatever price, it is a totally different ballgame. I would highly recommend Polarion ALM add more AI features to it. I know they have started to do something, but for example, I have been developing widgets for IBM DOORS Next, AI widgets, so that you can write and analyze requirements with the AI, and I have also done the same for Jira, creating a couple of Jira applications in the marketplace as well.

Real-time dashboards provide clear insights into project progress and team velocity
Rally Software is easy to use for Agile project methodology because it follows Scrum and Kanban, helping with sprint planning and backlog management. Rally Software provides real-time dashboards for different kinds of stakeholders and governance, giving clear insights into project progress, team velocity, and potential risks. Backlog management is present in the product, allowing prioritization of tasks. The dashboards provide all types of insights through analytics. Capacity planning helps optimize resource allocation, ensuring balanced workload and realistic sprint commitments for our projects. The solution integrates with GitHub, and we can also integrate with Excel and CI/CD pipelines.

Pros

"Since implementing this solution we have better communication and information exchange with customers."
"The traceability is so simple that I don't need to do any additional configurations related to traceability."
"Codebeamer is user-friendly"
"The most valuable aspect is the integration with third-party tools, as we don't have to use different tools to start from the stakeholder requirements down to subsystems."
"The platform provided the flexibility to expand our business processes, accommodating or altering them to suit the requirements of a changing environment."
"Other benefits observed from using Codebeamer include its excellent release management and access management features."
"The key features of Codebeamer include templates and basic structures, most of which are created and readily available for deployment out of the box, reducing deployment time."
"Codebeamer's API-based integration and many other integration aspects with other solutions are very powerful."
"This one tool incorporates almost all engineering tasks we need to do for one project."
"When it comes to functionalities like a real-time collaboration feature and traceability capabilities, Polarion ALM has had those basic features for the past five years already, and they are pretty mature products that have all the needed requirements management features, such as traceability and reporting, and even configuration management or version controlling."
"I am impressed with the solution’s stability."
"You can see the work ticket and you can circulate that within the teams, you can define your flows, customize according to your needs, and you can create dashboards and create the reports according to your needs."
"It is a very stable solution."
"Even though Polarion is quite expensive, it's quite a good solution for medical device development in general, especially for software development."
"The tool helped us to more effectively and efficiently gather and structure the information (requirements, test plans, project management data, etc.), and share it with the involved stakeholders in a safe and change-controlled manner."
"There are similar solutions out there such as Jira and Confluence, but they are not as good."
"Defect tracking is the one feature that behaves most like I would expect and I have found a good way get it to work for me."
"CA Agile Central is a tool that solves the agile-at-scale challenge, and is still user friendly enough to handle non-IT work loads."
"I like the Story Board since it helps me keep track of my stories and any tasks assigned."
"It really helps us scale in terms of our organizations, and be more predictable."
"With this product, searching for historical information or the evolution of the requirement, detecting conflict between projects has helped a lot."
"With the portfolio management feature, we were able to understand our capacity for the first time and visually understand all the various initiatives in-flight, and we could provide very clear dashboards to our senior executives in order to be able to choose which projects we did and to check if they were on schedule."
"Agile release management is ready to go and essentially takes the Agile methodology, adding some additional components so you can understand what you can do with it and what cannot be done with it, without redefining the whole process."
"It allows us to work in a more dynamic fashion and track more of the development lifecycle."

Cons

"The product's UI is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"One improvement could be to reduce the system or server requirements. For a client with a medium configuration server, Codebeamer did not work initially until the system was upgraded."
"There are thousands of requirements that are modified or which are reviewed; those reviews cannot be seen at one single point in time."
"We would like to see more industry-specific features that are tailored to the vertical markets."
"There should be more integration tools available. Although Codebeamer has a substantial amount of integration options with multiple tools, new technologies and software constantly emerge."
"The solution tends to eat up a budget."
"Codebeamer is not completely compatible with our internal network setup."
"What is really disappointing is that some features which have been promised for years are still not mature enough to use."
"The ease-of-use could be improved a little."
"The solution is not easy to use. The configuration aspect of the solution is not easy."
"The license model is okay for large companies but would be quite expensive for smaller enterprises."
"Based on my understanding, the tool's integration capabilities with multiple tools is an area of concern that Polarion needs to focus on more."
"The user interface is not yet optimized."
"Test management lacks an automated process."
"One of Polarion's shortcomings would be planning. It can handle plans, but the planning feature is very basic."
"Polarion ALM can learn from Atlassian tools a lot, as the usability is not the best, and it is really narrowly focused on requirements management only."
"Overall, standard/canned reporting options are probably the weakest part of the platform but exporting a data dump for reporting outside of the tool is very easy."
"It could improve by being self-organizing: user stories, different hierarchies, and different perspectives. Not just as a single hierarchical structure, but something that can be multidimensional."
"In Rally Software, the connection with GitLab and GitHub needs improvement."
"I would like to see it more well connected with the PPM tool. We have Planview."
"It could improve by being self-organizing: user stories, different hierarchies, and different perspectives."
"I think there needs to be some simplification. The team-level side can be challenging and complicated."
"Integration with Git is not very good."
"We would probably like to see a more robust dependency management system."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is reasonably priced and in accordance with the industry standards."
"Pricing is good when compared to similar ALM solutions."
"Codebeamer is not a cheap solution."
"They're not the most expensive product on the market, but they're not the cheapest either — I'd say codeBeamer ALM is moderately priced."
"You have to pay around 50-60 euros per user."
"If the pricing would come down and it was more affordable then we wouldn't have to switch."
"Our license for Polarion ALM is yearly. And it's not the cheapest tool that we've looked at. So if we had made our decision purely based on the licensing cost, we wouldn't have selected Polarion."
"The license model is okay for large companies but would be quite expensive for smaller enterprises."
"The solution is expensive."
"Software for medical devices is always expensive."
"It is an expensive product."
"Rally Software costs $50 a month, and for a base account, that price is acceptable."
"I understand it's a little more expensive. That is why many people prefer Jira."
"It is expensive and may not be worthwhile for a small company."
"We are always looking for a discount, if the solution was less expensive it would be a benefit."
"From a price point, it's a cost effective solution for our needs."
"Frankly, pricing is expensive and needs to be carefully planned for when budgeting."
"The license costs are fairly high as compared to some of the other solutions out there."
"I don't know the exact pricing, but I think the tool is priced high. They provide quality workmanship, good software, regular upgrades, and they're always attentive and listen to users. Everything comes with a price. I think it's an expensive solution compared to Jira or other competitors, but it's a complete package."
