Centralized device management has transformed security and streamlined remote provisioning
One area where Microsoft Intune can improve is the user interface. Sometimes the portal feels a bit complex and not very intuitive, especially for new users, and it can take time to find specific settings. Another point is troubleshooting. While logs are available, the diagnostic policies and sync issues can still be time-consuming and not very straightforward. I also feel that reporting could be more detailed and customizable. The built-in reports are helpful, but for deeper insights, I often need to rely on additional tools. Overall, it is a strong solution, but improving usability and troubleshooting experience would make it even better. While Microsoft Intune works very well within the Microsoft ecosystem, the integration of some third-party tools could be smoother and require less customization. Support is another area that could improve, as sometimes response times can be slow, and resolving complex issues may take longer than expected. In terms of features, I think more advanced automation and built-in remediation options would be helpful since common issues can be fixed automatically without manual intervention.

An affordable solution to control BlackBerry applications but has latency issues
The solution is complicated for new users. There are a lot of buttons on the first page. It can be very confusing if you’re not aware of the terms they use. For example, a button labelled ‘edit device’ doesn't explain exactly what it does or how to use it. Setup is difficult, time-consuming, and a lot of procedures are involved. There are latency issues on the application.

Effective product tracking and monitoring enhances daily operations despite needing documentation improvement
The documentation part of Workspace ONE UEM can be confusing. The documentation is not comprehensive compared to other VMware solutions or Microsoft documentation. Most people struggle to connect the dots when looking at the documentation. Even the training material and PowerPoint slide decks that trainers use are sometimes too confusing or overwhelming, with too much content but not enough clarity. The support side has recently become weaker compared to what it used to be with VMware. This is another area that needs improvement. Since working with Workspace ONE UEM from when it was AirWatch, it has improved significantly over the last five years. However, there are still some gray areas and scope for improvement, especially in documentation and workflow between different aspects of the solution.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Conditional access helps me control uncontrolled access."
"Autopilot is definitely the most valuable feature for me, because as an MSP supporting some clients with 300 to 400 users, once it is configured correctly we use Microsoft Intune so that when a laptop is sent directly to a remote user they just log in with their email address and password and their machine is ready to go with Wi-Fi, SharePoint access, OneDrive backup, Outlook, and all the applications they need automatically configured and deployed."
"Previously, SCCM was used as an on-premise solution for clients, but now they are moving to Microsoft Intune as a cloud solution with better security and functions."
"It works pretty well for us."
"The solution appears to be stable and scalable."
"We can manage and standardize security across your environment, identify problems, receive alerts, and so on. That's its purpose, and that's also why it's so good."
"Its price is reasonable. It is a part of our M365 suite."
"Microsoft Intune does help me save time in terms of management of various devices—I don't have to go to those locations to manage the devices at those locations, I can do it remotely, which is very helpful."
"The solution has a lot of features, such as adding different applications and devices to one platform. This allowed us to manage many devices and applications from a single platform."
"If an outside person tries to track or hack information, it is not possible without us being notified."
"VMware Workspace ONE has been stable so far."
"Cloud-based VMware Workspace ONE is very good; it is easy to deploy and manage, and maintenance is also quite simple."
"The solution's single plane of glass approach is beneficial. The endpoint management is very good and specific. One of their competitors is Intune, and you have leaks from other services within the Microsoft ecosystem."
"The remote management and location capabilities are good."
"Right now we don't see there's an MDM solution out there that's better than VMware Workspace ONE."
"The standard features and securities are packed with flexibilities to enable and disable in accordance with the customer’s business operational process and IT Helpdesk process."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is that it enables us to remotely manage the devices, which is its purpose, and to push applications to the mobile devices from the portal."

Cons

"The worst aspect is the reporting."
"If your MDM has to be really specific, perhaps Intune is not the better option."
"If you're looking forward to deficiency, I'd say that the Endpoint Manager support at the lower levels is poor."
"The interoperability or communication with a different platform can be better. It is a two-way street. It is not only about Microsoft. The other platforms also have to be willing to share some information, but that absolutely can be improved."
"Microsoft Intune fails a lot when it comes to device compliance."
"It should be simplified. I've worked with many different mobile device management solutions, and Intune is one of the more complex ones. It could be more simplified, and some of it is related to the wording that is being used, such as a configuration profile versus a policy. They really should have had different names to make it less confusing."
"Its stability should also be improved. It is not very stable; sometimes, it shows some inconsistencies across tenants."
"Intune should improve its software inventory to provide better metering of which software is used throughout the company. This is especially needed for reporting third-party software solutions."
"The solution is complicated for new users. There are a lot of buttons on the first page. It can be very confusing if you’re not aware of the terms they use. For example, a button labelled ‘edit device’ doesn't explain exactly what it does or how to use it."
"They need a more flexible pricing model."
"The integration on the application side could improve."
"I tried to use the tool on an encrypted disk, but it was inconvenient."
"We have had a need to move the database, and that was fairly difficult as documentation was sparse, and the first support technican said AirWatch would need re-installed."
"From an identity perspective, there is a lot of room for improvement when it comes to integration with other solutions."
"The product's stability for certain instances needs improvement."
"Windows 8.1 could have more options to control."
"We have a lot of problems when it comes to integrating with Active Directory."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I don't have any problem as far as cost is concerned. It is bundled with our license."
"Pricing can be improved."
"We are partners, so we receive some discount. However, from the customer's perspective, Microsoft Intune's pricing is competitive with non-Microsoft technology, and the price is good compared to other market competitors."
"Microsoft Intune is pretty reasonable. We have difficulty with Azure, which is probably why we have not put many assets in Azure. Everything we put there is very expensive."
"While I don't have access to high-level financial information, I believe we have achieved lower costs with this implementation."
"Microsoft Intune is a cost effective choice. It is less expensive than other products on the market."
"It is cheap, but as compared to Google, it is costly. Google is cheaper, but quality-wise, Microsoft Intune is better."
"The price is reasonable, but they should lower it a bit to make it more competitive. It's cheaper than AirWatch and other products, but I still feel like Microsoft can make a base version or with Exchange online or a la carte only Intune version which will be useful. A customer who doesn't want to go full-fledged E3 or E5 can take out or consume an Intune solution only for their purpose, and we want to target that customer."
Information not available
"The license is paid annually."
"Depending on the requirements of users, there is a need to make yearly payments towards the licensing costs attached to the product."
"The tool is expensive."
"VMware Workspace ONE licensing price is good with their supportability. The price of VMware Workspace ONE is reasonable. We are using an enterprise license."
"We've purchased various licenses for VMware Workspace ONE, including premium and gold tiers. These licenses include security measures and support for managing telecom expenses like data and voice usage."
"The pricing currently is higher than the competition."
"In terms of pricing, this solution is definitely much more expensive compared to other solutions, like MobileIron or MaaS360 or any other product in the market. This solution is more expensive by 30 or 40 percent."
"The cost is a little bit high."
